I bought the 180mm variant for my budget touring bike, combined with an Avid BB5 and Alhonga drop bar levers I get plenty of power, and did not overheat while descending a mountain with constant braking and roughly 105 kg total weight (me + bike and luggage), which was in the hot summer sun. That is while we had to stop multiple times to let my girlfriend's rims cool down because her rim brakes were overheating.

Awful rotor, I've used it with Shimano Resin pads that came on M615 brakes, the bite was horrible, but that was due the pads, so I swapped to metallic pads, which wore the rotor fast, these really are just for resin pads as claimed. They overheat fast, upgrading to Hope Tech Floating rotors made a huge difference, they did not get as hot. and had good braking performance for a logn time, it took a long time before I had to sand them with 100 Grit sand paper. I had them in 160 rear and 180 front.they kept getting glazed.but with the SM-RT56 it did not help at all, the rotor just kept overheating.

Lots of surface area for the brake pads to grab onto and numerous holes to dissipate the heat. Whats not to like? Installed easy with the 6 bolts that were included. Instructions on the Shimano website are easy to follow.

Exactly what was needed/expected. Like all things Shimano, good value proposition and WORKS!
Fine rotors at a great price. I do get some squealing but thereβs more to squealing than just rotors.
Great product. Quick shipping. OEM packaging.
Excellent, high quality basic rotor for urban and commuter bikes. Keeps your cost low while providing solid performance .
The original disc was machined flat with sharp, square edges and precision holes but the replacement was cheaply made by just stamping it out of sheet metal. While it is flat, the edges are curved, not square and the holes have a slight protrusion on the back side that was left by the stamping process that causes a noise when the brakes are applied. It does do the job of stopping but not as good as the original.
This rotor works great with the basic Shimano font disc brake. Includes all required hardware. Even had thread locker pre- installed!
I've just put these on my girl friends bike so it's a little early to give a detailed review. These went on a decent mountain bike and we are rec riders. So far we've only ridden on pavement and a little gravel in good conditions. I put on newer wheels and slick style tires so I added the new rotors to give a niece new feel and appearance. So far these are have been great and the price point is good as well.
