Sea to Summit Tek Towel X-Large - Desert
To the touch, the Tek Towel resembles a classic cotton terry towel, but uses the properties of synthetic fibers. Made of recycled polyester and polyamide, it absorbs up to six times its weight and will be dry again in a short time. This makes it perfect for regular sports activities such as swimming, gym, indoor sports and more or for summer holidays in a tent. It has a terry finish with a long pile and is equipped with a hanging loop with the patent. It comes in a handy EVA foam zip case.

Have both the XS and M. The M has joined me for a round the world trip, everywhere from Everest BC to hostels throughout Europe. Accidentally set part of it on fire in Nepal, but it's all good...just a flattened scorched patch! Still works fine. I hate the 'suede' feel towels - this one feels like a proper towel and drys quickly. The M is just enough to dry me off (170cm skinny female with super short hair), but if you're taller or have longer hair, maybe opt for the large). Highly recommended! (just don't put it next to an open fire ...my bad).

This towel is great for camping, hiking, etc -- not sure about backpacking given the size/box-y ness of the container. It really came in handy during my camping trip to Yellowstone. It comes with a tab that makes it easy to hang up, which is efficient for drying the towel after its been washed or in general.I happened to catch some trout during my trip to Yellowstone, and was able to use one of the towels to support the cooking process. Afterwards I used my sea to summit sink to wash the towel, and hung it up to dry so that it could be used for other purposes.

I bought this towel for a 3 week long road trip and I also camp a lot. I know it's expensive, but the xl size was the only way to go for me to use consistently as a bath and beach towel. It does dry really quickly and has a great case. The only improvement I can suggest is instructions for how to fold it so that it fits nicely back in the case. It took me a long time to get that down since you can't just shove it in the case. It has to be folded exactly right. Otherwise great towel I'll probably buy another for my boyfriend to use when we camp. Everyone is jealous of this towel

These are great towels as other reviewers have shared. I bought the large and extra-large versions specifically for camping/backpacking and also for deployments. They work outstanding in both environments! I appreciate they feel much more like a regular towel over a major competitors brand that I've used for years that feels like a shammy you dry your car with. They both dry quickly and pack down small but you can't beat the next to skin feel of the Tek Towels. Pay attention to the sizing/recommendations. The XL is definitely a big towel if you need or like the abundance. I recommend the Large for most situations ie field showers, pool, and such.
I love this towel. It immediately absorbs water and is so lightweight and compact. I love having something that’s easy to grab and take with me when I travel, so I have something familiar with me. It does take some time to dry upon being washed in washing machine (on low heat), but otherwise easy peasy.
It's a towel that works better than regular towels its size. It also costs a lot more than it is worth in proportion to its functionality. I got it on sale and still felt like it was too expensive but I wanted to give it a try. A couple of cheap dish towels are good enough for the job and don't weigh that much more or take up that much more space.
After spending a couple of weeks in Ukraine with one towel, I’m glad I brought this one with me. If you got the space, buy the more bulky one as the lightest weight one is like drying off with a piece of suede. That being said, the bulky, softer towels by sea to summit didn’t disappoint. It dried quick and soaked up all the water I could shake at it.
We have been using these Tek Towels on three sprinter van trips so far. We find that the large and x-large sizes are best for bath towels. The wash towels are used as wash cloths. The Tek Towels have the thick feel of a real bath towel. They absorb very well, much better than micro fiber. They dry within hours so we can use them morning and again late afternoon without having damp towels. When we visit friends' houses, we prefer to use our Tek Towels and Tek wash towels over their bath towels. This has the added benefit of saving the hosts from having to do laundry. We like these so much we are buying two sets for fellow vanlife friends as host gifts.
Had original version, X large. Took it with me on Around Australia trip. Used every day, as towel or sometimes curtain, stuck between glass and frame on driver and back window to stop me from burning, with small parts that stick outside, resisting 140km/h with ease, while banging over the side of he car. Washed and dried in caravan park's washers and driers. Never changed a bit. It's sentimental part kicked in after I left it in Karijini. Still crying about it. Have to get another one.
The extra large is a good size. The towel folds down into its case so it is reasonably small and easy to pack. It soaks up a lot of water and yet dries quickly. And it does not have that scratchy microfiber feel. Bought one for myself and one for my son for our high adventure trip to Alaska. We both enjoyed our towels and their packability.
