I'm mostly a side sleeper but spend a lot of time moving around in different sleeping positions during the night. This pad was so ridiculously comfortable that it felt like my bed mattress at home - I've never been this comfy backpacking before! I also didn't realise how much of a difference a pad with an R-rating of 3.5 makes (my last pad was only 1.5): for once, I did not get cold during the night (on one particularly chilly Fall Sierra weekend, we woke with ice on our tent). I'm only 5'4 so the women's regular pad was plenty long enough for me and, being 6" shorter than my last pad, afforded me a little extra room for gear at my feet. Not too heavy, either, especially considering the pros of a good night's sleep compared to the lighter and thinner/lower R-value ... Inflating was easy; packing back into the stuff sack with the inflation bag stumped me on my first trip, but I had it down pat by my 2nd trip (fold the inflation bag first into 3rds lengthwise, then fold until it's small enough to fit into the end of the stuff sack, THEN fold and roll the pad and pack it in the other end of the stuff sack). Summary: brilliant pad and worth every cent! Hope it holds up.

I bought my Sea To Summit Light XT Insulated in 2021 and now in 2023 I experienced random topside punctures. I contacted Sea To Summit and they replaced it under warranty. Searching for other people's experiences has found the same issue. The dimples on the top get pin hole punctures. I have had to patch 5 places where punctures have occurred and all in the same dimple edge position. I've heard of others getting more than 10 punctures in the same locations. Sea To Summit will replace under warranty but it's an unpleasant experience waking up in the morning touching the ground and having to buy extra patches if your away from home/work for a trek. The bag is too tight to fit the mat in and there isn't a logical place to store the puncture repair kit other than in the bag cord hole. I loved the sleeping experience when it didn't deflate aside from the balloon rubbing sound when changing position, but over all there is a design issue with this mat so I can't recommend it to anyone. This is a premium price mat competing with the Worlds best manufacturers, but with the design issue it's not worth buying unfortunately. I envy those who haven't had this issue, other people have had the puncture issue on multiple replacements.

I have used this pad for probably over 100 nights at this point. I'm a Trail Worker, long distance hiker, and former Wilderness Ranger, and this pad has kept me extremely comfortable almost every night. It's thick, quiet, and plenty warm for most trips. After 40-50 nights or so, I was having to wake up every 2 hours to re-inflate because I was hitting the ground with my hips/shoulders while side sleeping. I had gotten used to it, but finally decided to throw some patches on one day. I found SEVEN holes on the pad, all on the top of the pad, which was very surprising to me. No holes on the bottom (great!), which has definitely seen pokey conditions; one hole in a crease near the seam, which makes sense with repeated use; SIX holes on the edges of the air cell ... Four of those were at chest level and two at knee level.Obviously, this is an issue because I now know exactly where every future hole will be. After patching, I took it back out on an 8-day trip and it was like new. The next 8-day trip, it was back to deflating. It would be almost flat by about 3 or 4 AM. I'm hesitant to even patch it again at this point, because I know it will continue to get holes in the same place. You can see pictures of some of the patches below.I've loved this pad, but I will be looking at other options going forward.

I’ve used this sleeping mat now for 4 camping trips and I’ve been very impressed. I have slept on 2 other types and it either popped one of the first times I used it, took too long to inflate, was annoying to inflate, or deflated in the middle of the night. This is not only comfortable, but it has worked on uneven ground, rocks, roots, and it weather as low as 40 degrees so far. My husband tried mine out and he liked it so much I got a men’s ether for him as well! I also loved the integrated air pump system that comes from using the bag. It takes about 3 times to get it inflated. I also have a pillow as well from them and it fits perfectly in the bag when everything is put away. Easily the most comfortable mat I've owned. It's easy to inflate, and the integrated pump is a genius piece of design. Packing away is very easy and takes a couple of minutes on a bad day. There's enough room in the bag for my Aeros pillow as well.I'm a side sleeper, and was able to sleep very comfortably without waking up with a sore shoulder. The air adjustment feature makes it simple to find the perfect level without needing to get out of your sleeping bag - just be careful to pull the correct tab or you'll find yourself on the ground on a deflated mat.It is quite narrow, so if you're a back sleeper you might find your arms fall off the sides of the mat - if that's a concern, consider sizing up.My partner found it to be quite crinkly when moving around, but ... Miraculously, the mat came out unscathed (although I'm not willing to go round 2), so small sticks or rocks should be no issue. I wouldn't recommend it as a dog bed.All round, I can't fault this mat for me. It's comfortable, warm, light and easy. It's pricey, but snag it on sale and sleep like a baby.
I am a wilderness ranger and spend most nights of the week in the backcountry. I was looking to upgrade my sleeping setup for something that was still light and packable but would provide me with higher quality sleep. I was a bit skeptical about the women's specific design (normally that stuff is rather gimmicky) but I figured I'd take a shot because they at least had a long size that would fit me and I'm so glad I did! While this pad is slightly heavier than what I used to use, it's worth every ounce because of how comfortable it is. I paired this with the Women's Flame 15 and there's actually a difference in the women specific gear versus men's, which is what I'd been using for the last 10 years. I am an active sleeper so what I like most about this sleeping pad is that I can get comfortable in any position, be it back, side, or stomach. I also really like the material it's made out of. It seems like it would be pretty loud with tossing and turning but I found it to be quieter than most pads I've used. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the bag, I don't really use the pump because it's too much fiddling for my taste, so I kind of wish it came with just a normal bag to save some space. Either way, so happy with this pad and highly recommend it!
I'm currently on a deployment in the Middle East. The last air mattress that I had from sea to summit lasted me six years and was used a lot in all weather conditions. I upgraded to the "Ether Light XT Insulated Air Sleeping Mat". This mattress never left my cot and was comfortable. One night I lost all my air and followed the instructions for patching it. Used soapy water located the holes, wiped it down and let it dry. I used the smaller patches and let it sit for an hour. Still lost all my air then used the large patches and the issue still accrued. I used soupy water again and found no holes. I sent a message a few days ago and haven't heard back. For how pricey this mattress is it should have lasted more than just a few months.
I have just tested this mat on a bike packing trip and I am very pleased! I had the most comfortable sleep I have ever had in a lightweight tent. I used it with the Aeros pillow (which I bought ages ago and had never used) which it is designed to integrate with. The pillow attaches to the mat with self adhesive Velcro patches that are supplied with the mat. Although I was skeptical, the pillow stayed in place. The temperature was quite mild so I can’t comment on the the insulation qualities yet. It is nice and compact when storing and rolling in it up was very easy. Thanks Tom’s Outdoors for great service and competitive pricing as well as having the live stock availability!
I usually use a foam pad. I have a couple of Klymit inflatables that have given me zero issue, and I was thru hiking the SHT, so why not maximize my sleep by getting the most comfortable ultralight pad on the market? well it sprung many leaks (by day 3) that were never fully patched because I couldn't find them. the two I did patch after only a week were on the top, in the "button" area (which leads me to believe manufacturing defect). it gradually got worse until I was waking up on the ground 3 plus times a night after a week and a half. luckily I ended up with a replacement pad at around mile 160 (due to the kindness of a stranger and a husky that didn't want his torso length foam pad). I'm sure this was a factory defect, but that's not allowed when you're dealing ... MoreI usually use a foam pad. S2S is a great company, but the qc needs to be tightened up.
Hi, I purchased this several years ago for backpacking and since I live in Canada and work full time, I only do maybe 2 or 3 trips per summer, so I would estimate I used this maybe 25 nights? always in a tent with a ground sheet, nowhere rocky or in cactus or anything and a bit disappointed - two air leaks that were extremely difficult to find ( had to use soapy water at home - miniscule holes = smaller than a pin head. Have now patched both and hope that this works. Would not buy this again = for the price and limited # of times used carefully - too risky for the backcountry. It is however, as comfortable as my bed, as long as it's not leaking!! It is very noisy as well. I am now nervous to depend on it in the backcountry - packing extra patch kits and soap, just ... Trying to find the holes in a running stream is ridiculous and could not even find them in my bathtub - soap test only thing that worked. Would not even stay inflated over night with miniscule pin holes.
