I had the toughest time finding size information for a dry sack that would fit my Marmot 2-person tent. The standard case was not waterproof, and I like to pack it on the outside of my 48L backpacking pack, since I don't have a ton of room inside. My Marmot tent is about the size of the REI halfdome (probably just a little bit smaller) but it packs down around the same size. The 20L sack came in an orange color and just perfectly fits it, so if you need a dry sack for your 2-person tent, and you think it's around the same size, I think the 20L would do you wonders.I love the feel of the sack (hehe) and it's definitely super lightweight. I can totally see how it would wear out quickly though if snagged on branches, rocks, etc, so I plan to be very careful with ... MoreI had the toughest time finding size information for a dry sack that would fit my Marmot 2-person tent. Ultra Sil dry bag, the buckle for the closure is attached to the bag with a short metal screw that screws into the plastic snap buckle. Mine lasted one short trip before the screw pulled out of the plastic. Called Sea To Summit and they know the problem, they are changing the design. It was never field tested. In manufacturing the screw gets over tightened, or installed loose and falls out. Metal screw with three threads, into plastic, poor design.

I bought a number of these dry bags in different sizes and colors. I just got off a river in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and it rained every day, except ONE! I was rafting and used a large, tough dry bag, lined with a large Ultra Sil dry sac ... then organized my gear into these smaller bags. I have found that redundancy in the field is a good thing! It was so nice to reach in and grab a bag, knowing what was inside!!! All my clothing and gear that needed to stay dry DID. As I pulled individual Ultra Sil Dry Bags out for different items, the other things in my pack stayed dry. Organization and dryness - what more could I ask for!One thing I noticed is that I don't need as large a dry bag as I thought I did, as you can compress items, and save space. I bought this to wash my clothes in while traveling internationally. I wash my clothes every day so that I can travel for weeks out of a carry-on. This bag took up nearly no room in my carry-on and was large enough for a couple of shirts, socks, & underwear, with plenty of room to fill with water. Easy to handle to agitate. Yeah I know this is not its intended purpose, but it works great.
I bought a smallish one a few months ago to use as a bear bag and it is perfect! Ultralight and it closes in a way that is waterproof and can squeeze our air. I just recently got another one (large one) to replace a pack liner & will be using it on my next trip. So far I have used it once in a day pack, and it worked well. Highly recommend!
These bags sound like a great idea. They are supposed to keep gear dry and compartmentalized. We just finished hiking the Appalachian Trail and this piece of gear was our number one regret. We didn't expect our gear to stay dry if these bags were submersed in a pool. Fair enough. But our gear didn't even stay dry in the rain. Not just the rain, our gear was wet on the inside if the air was humid! I don't understand where the dry part of these dry sacks comes into play. Moisture just saturated through the fabric. Halfway through our hike, my family of 6 tossed $500+ worth of dry sacks and replaced them with Great Value gallon freezer bags! Just stick with the Ziplocs. You'll thank me later.
I decided I needed a little dry sack to hold various odds and ends that I keep in my pack that usually just floated around in the top pocket. I went with Sea to Summit's pack because I have had great experience with all their gear in the past and this is great too. I haven't put the pack through too much, but its light, water tight, and reliable so far. Sea to Summit always seems to deliver.
These are great dry sacks. At first glance, the price may seem a bit steep for an individual lightweight dry sack, but they are durable and I have confidence that I won't have to replace them for a long time. The material is extremely lightweight and non-bulky. I really enjoy how the sacks are slightly transparent, so it is easy to get a basic sense of what is inside if I am using several stuff sacks at once. For me, the 2L (in red) is the perfect size for a small/lightweight first aid kit to protect bandages, gauze, medications, etc. from getting wet in the rain. I have given these as gifts in the past and will likely buy more in the future - can always find a way to put another dry/stuff sack to good use. My only minor complaint is that the buckles can be a little ... MoreThese are great dry sacks. These bags are sturdy and work as advertised for the most part. I used a 13L for my sleeping bag and an 8L for clothing on the AT. 1300 miles in and I'm MOSTLY happy with them, BUT....The screw that holds the plastic buckle to the closure strip comes loose. I almost lost one the first time one came out, by sheer luck I found it while packing up tent. Another thru hiker lost his as well, this is not a problem isolated to one defective bag but rather a serious QC or design flaw.
I have owned and used dozens of these over the years. They are good for a year, maybe two. I wish that I could attach a picture of the 8 that I am throwing away right now. The same thing happens. The seam tape on the insides becomes separated from the bag. Sometimes this is only in small patches but I have two bags in front of me right now where the tape from the entire length of the bag is separated on one side of the seam. Whether for an inch or the entire length, though, this means that the seam is no longer waterproof. The tape that they use doesn’t stick well to the fabric and comes off over time or with even a bit of stuffing. For the longest time they were the only lightweight dry bags that REI had. I’ll try a different bag this next purchase.
