These are not only comfortable but ankle support is incredible. Iāve rolled my ankle many times on hikes and scrambles and the boots save me every time. The waterproofing is excellent. Iāve crossed streams and have walked through water for extended periods of time without getting wet. The traction is great too! Iām contemplating buying a second pair because I love them so much! Iāve owned these for just over a year and theyāve come on many adventures. Great quality.

I bought this booth on Sept 5 2021 and by July 2022, I had worn it on a handful of hikes in spring and summer enjoying the comfort it offered on steep terrain and for long days of being on feet. However, my love for them started waning like the glue that holds the soles together. I get that i may have hiked in wet conditions, but these boots are gortex, so you would suggest that the glue holding it would not be something that dissolves in water but with use it does, with leaks throughout the sole-booth border. The toe cap was first to go with a hole big enough for water to get in even, really making the boot very uncomfortable. Recommend this boot for very dry areas, but if like I, you wanted to get a boot for the pacific northwest or anywhere else rainy, I would ...Ā MoreI bought this booth on Sept 5 2021 and by July 2022, I had worn it on a handful of hikes in spring and summer enjoying the comfort it offered on steep terrain and for long days of being on feet. I love my new Scarpa Kailash boots! Very comfortable straight out of the box. I will be honest in saying I thought initially they felt a little hard on the foot, restrictive around my ankles and a tad weighty but that's more likely because I haven't worn hiking boots (or boots of any kind) for 20 odd years! What I have worn a lot is light weight sneakers/runners. Now, having worn them on a few short walks, out to the shops and around the house, all the sensations of a new shoe have dissipated and I would happily now describe them as almost like a comfy slipper! Love them!I had also tried on pairs of Scarpa's Khumbu GTX and also their ZG Trek. These were also very comfortable. The reason I went for the Kailash? I stumbled upon an online sale price from Scarpa putting them at $10 cheaper than what I could get the ZG Treks for. The Kailash are a more expensive boot,, but probably not much difference in comfort... I'd be very happy with any of these Scarpas :)

Well I have owned a pair of these before was my first pair. They were great. So I searched for a new pair. Found this set but the only thing is the rubber on the side after one day of east use I noticed the rubber on the toe coming off. This should not happen. Otherwise I like the boots they are very breathable and lasted along time took a lot of abuse. I would like to see them replaced for the money. I would recommend the product as long as they hold up and donāt fall apart.
The boots are amazingly comfortable. I have worn them on camping trips with some water crossings, hiking, general outdoor activities, and also some around the house work. Once I figured out how to tie them to fit my foot better I couldn't hardly tell I had them on. They breathe well and my feet feel fresh and dry. I also wear wool socks which add to that. That traction is there for me in everything I've put them through. I believe I've found my new favorite boots.
4th pair of Kailash Trek GTX boots and I'm sticking with them! So these comments aren't a review after wearing them for 5 minutes, this is after hundreds, probably thousands of kilometres. Over the years this model has changed slightly but it is still a really good boot to wear. I'm using them for working in the bush all day and on my feet working. They have stood up to all that I can throw at them. They are comfortable, keep my feet relatively sweat free, and when in water feet stay dry as long as I don't go over the high tide mark! It is very rare for me to lose grip even on WA pea gravel, I get great ankle support in rough terrain. Yep I love these boots. For me, these boots are spot-on in every department and I'll stick with them until they change the model too ...Ā More4th pair of Kailash Trek GTX boots and I'm sticking with them! I have an old pair of Scarpa hiking boots - about 18 years old, to be exact - that have served me heroically over the years. I even had them resoled recently. Even though they are still going strong, about two years ago I decided it was time for a new pair. I like a sturdy pair of backpacking boots, with a stiffer sole, GORE-TEX waterproofing, and with some mesh in the construction (because all leather isn't breathable and is too hot). The only boots at the time I found to check all my boxes were made by Asolo. They felt great in the store. They felt great just casually walking around. But on the trail, they gave me terrible heel blisters. I decided they were a half size too small, so I returned them for a half size larger. The only boots at the time I found to check all my boxes were made by Asolo. They felt great in the store. They felt great just casually walking around. But on the trail, they gave me terrible heel blisters. I decided they were a half size too small, so I returned them for a half size larger. They felt better in the store and casually walking around, but again they gave me terrible heel blisters. I tried no less than four different brands and weights of socks, with no relief. I kept trying to break them in, but they still gave me blisters. So I went back to using my old Scarpa boots full-time. Then I came across the Scarpa Kailash boots at Moosejaw, and decided to give them a try. I ordered the same size as my old Scarpas, and right out of the box they were totally comfortable. The fit was nearly identical to my old boots. They DID give me a mild heel blister the very first time I wore them, but I attribute that to being new boots, and also to the fact that I had not hiked in two months at the time. Subsequent hikes (I've probably got 40+ miles on them now) have not caused any additional blisters, and the Kailash boots are totally comfortable and really sturdy. In fact I love them so much I ordered a second pair to have in reserve so I don't have to go through this drama again when I need my next new pair! My only complaint so far is that they are just a tiny bit more snug than my old Scarpas, and when I try to install my standard Superfeet aftermarket footbeds, the fit is just a little too snug. I'm hoping they may loosen up just a bit with use, and that the suede may stretch just a little so I can install my Superfeet footbeds.
This is my forth pair of these shoes. I wear them every day (whether I'm going hiking or going to work) and they me last 4-5 years. I like them because they're very comfortable and the GORE-TEX keeps my feet dry. They also get a great grip on the trail and protect my feet from all manner of trail hazards. On the negative side, the sole separates from the shoe after a few years. Itās possible to glue the sole back on, but for what these cost, the soles shouldnāt come unglued.
These are the fourth pair of Scarpas Iāve had over the years and so itās disappointing to give them this rating. Walking through ~ 5ā wet grass gave me wet toes. I wondered if the GTX membranes were faulty, took them back to MEC and was shown thereās no GTX liner at the tongue. The staff were good and wouldāve taken them back but I felt it was on me for not seeing this when purchasing, and they fit perfectly so theyāll be a dry season boot.I shouldāve seen the design when buying them or paid attention to the other low rating reviews that mention the issue. When you see GTX and āwaterproof-breathableā describe a boot product, youāre likely thinking waterproof higher up than 2 1/2ā, which is the highest point of GTX at the bottom of the tongue. Theyād be a great boot for the application if Scarpa continued the liner at the tongue.
Very durable boot, I found I got some pretty bad hotspots though when hauling a 20-22kg backpack up in the Victorian alps, but I don't have this problem if I'm walking without a load. I have to tie the laces in a specific fashion to prevent bad blisters/hotspots. The original Scarpa insole was pretty average, I replaced it with a Sidas one. My size 45s weigh in at 1.6kg which is pretty heavy, mostly I prefer to be in my Vivobarefoot Tracker II FGs (1.15kg) unless the terrain is too gnarly. The barefoot style boot is, hands down, much more lighter, comfortable and agile. I'm still trying to decide if these Scarpas will come with me when I go back to the Himalayas.
