Do not use it often because I use Nexico HD camera + microphone. Its speakers are loud enough for day to day conference calls and very clear for 8 hrs. of usage. Volume from Youtube videos etc. are pretty decent. The only issue is that Samsung does not provide an app yet to ensure drivers / firmware upgrades happen. Not sure if they come through Windows updates but having a separate app is assuring.

If developer activity does not produce applications that I am interested in, I could sell this device for a lot less than I paid for it, most likely, but I am happy with it. Each experience has been positive, and that's enough to be grateful for. Many people have said that this machine doesn't make a lot of sense, but it does everything I want it to. It has a very nice screen, powerful and fast enough, is the right weight, is efficient with power, and looks very nice. It's a pleasure to use. I want a laptop to be easy to use and to help me get stuff done as quickly, enjoyably, and comfortably as possible. Looking forward to using Microsoft 365 applications on the web for work while I'm at home or on the road. Last, the charger being small is excellent. But I like even more that I don't need to bring it on the road because the machine is power-efficient. I carry two laptops in one bag, one work-issued, and this one. The less stuff I have to bring, the better. Together they are pretty heavy but it's worth it. At least I can carry both of them. Back to back in a light bag, with one of them in a mylar bubble-wrap mailing envelope, they have more tensile strength and protect each other from damage to some degree. The physical fragility of the device is the greatest concern I have, as the price to toughness ratio of this device is pretty high, necessitating care and mindfulness with its transport and use, and vigilance against theft.

I traded in first generation Microsoft Pro X to get the Galaxy Book4 Edge 14". I have not been disappointed. Great screen, great keyboard, zippy performance, long-lasting battery, and low heat. I bought this mainly for work, which involves mostly Office applications and Web research. This is the most lap-friendly laptop I've ever owned. It is light, nicely balanced, with backlit keys, and stays cool. The application compatibility of Windows on ARM has improved immensely. I have an Intel computer for my music hobby, but I wanted to test the limits of the Elite X processor. My Pro X couldn't run any of my music applications. The only plug-ins I could not install were my Korg plug-ins. I made a Live Set in Ableton Live with six MIDI tracks using Zenology Pro and Arturia plug-ins with no problems. Amazing. Overall, this is a great laptop for most use cases, but you may run into compatibility issues for specialty applications. I would enthusiastically recommend this laptop if you're looking for a laptop specifically for writing.

For me a techie guy, it's an "acceptable" product, understanding all the drawbacks of the ARM64 architecture. Input lag is noticeable.

I've only had this a couple of days as the launch was only Tuesday and writing this on Thursday.I have been using it as my daily driver and trying to put it though its paces in "real world use".I like the design, and size. Reminds me alot of older MacBook Air's.The trackpad is big and works well, keys are ok. I prefer mechanical. I can still type just as well as on any other laptop. The screen is probably the thing I like most so far, very bright, vibrant and just clear as can be.I've used this in true "laptop" form not connected to anything, and connected to my LG Ultrawide with mouse keyboard etc. It seems to have detected my windows hello compatible webcam but did not allow me to use setup my face as a login option. I was a little disappointed that it didn't have or doesn't offer by default the "face id" login.I use Horizon View to access my work computer, and while it launches and works well enough, it has caused a BSOD twice in just two days. I assume this has to do with the X86 emulation. This may prove to be a dealbreaker for me if it keeps up as that will mean I won't be able to use it for work.I did install Lego Batman (Epic) and Bloons TD6 (Steam) but games launched, but I haven't actually tried playing them for any real amount of time. I'll do that this weekend to see if it gets hot and or loud. I attempted to install Fortnite which did install, when I attempted to run it, the launcher said that the ARM Architecture isn't supported.I have to compare this experience to when Apple launched the M1, I got a M1 Macbook pro and honestly it was just a more "seemless" experience. It wasn't obvious that you were using a new architecture in the same way it is with this. I suppose that is to be expected with the tighter integration (OS & CPU) that Apple has.The battery life has been good but not mind blowing my any means.

Samsungs quality control here is poor. The "rubber" feet on the back were Clicky, not solid. Once booted up the cursor would travel off the right side of the screen for not apparent reason and adjusting the resolution did nothing to fix it. I went back to the location and the demo model was doing the same thing. The Snapdragon processor was snappy and giving good battery life even in my short time with it. The keyboard was average but you dont want to type on it for long periods of time. There is SO much bloat on here that is not necessary and unlike on their phones where a lot of it is useful, it's not on Windows. The travel is very shallow. Seems like Samsung may have just thrown these together because the quality control for what you are getting doesn't match up. I am going to grab a different brand as I like the new chip and it's nice to have a laptop you can actually use on your Lap and have it not be a Hot Plate after using it for five minutes.FYI if Co Pilot is giving you the heebeegeebees, it looks like you can uninstall it and have a great new laptop with a fantastic chip in it, just not this one. I did find that Co Pilot enhanced many other things like the camera and sound quality overall all so I wouldn't let any preconceived notions make you get rid of it before trying it out. Personal opinion.

After trying the Asus ProArt PZ13 and the Lenovo Slim 7X, this Book Edge 4 impressed me the most, sharper display, reflection reduction, and a bit more color accuracy although not at Apple MacBook level.Ink deep blacks, punch colors, but too bias towards yellows and reds and no way to fix it.Samsung does offer and extra blue vs red color tone control, but that hardly does anything, I just keep it in the middle otherwise it affects the image in a weird way.The antireflection coating works, but it makes the overall image looks a bit dull, not the usual Samsung punchy colors that we love. Looking at it right now as I type, everything looks sharp, the white space looks clean, no patterns, but it doesn't give me that feel from the display from the Acer Slim 14 chromebook, that display although not OLED, the image quality looked premium, this one is OLED, but that antireflective coating does something that takes away from the image quality. The keyboard is awesome, I am using it to type this review and I love the feel of typing on this keyboard. The key lights are not so intrusive but they still bleed from underneath the keys, Apple does it better. The trackpad is big and it works find, but not Apple standard either, it doesn't feel premium and it takes a lot to make a click, I much prefer the feel of the trackpad on the ACER Spin 14 chromebook, glass and haptic feedback for the clicks.Samsung just created a minivan with this laptop, utilitarian, practical, it works, but it is not sexy. The Snapdragon processor is snappy, and battery life is better than Intel, but not super impressive as people claim it to be.I love that out of everything I have tried so far, this is the slimmest laptop, portable, and feels good to carry around, I Just wish they would have used a darker charcoal color, I don't like this plastic silver color, it feels fake and cheap, not an eye candy. The speakers work, but nothing special, definitely not Apple caliber. The sound through headphones is good, and the Atmos sound effect wakes up the sound, but again, nothing special, no separation of sounds, everything sounds muted together.I hope all that helps you get a feel for this device and helps you decided. Out of all the snapdragon PC with OLED display right now, this one is the best to me.

[Rewarded Review] Returned. Heat and poor battery life
4 September 2024

So...I have never been teased by a laptop before. This is an incredibly gorgeous, stunning, head turning, and light laptop. All the things you want and Samsung got it right. Until it wasn't.The incorporation of the Snapdragon X Elite here is incomplete. I cannot believe that for such a robust chipset with such an incredible laptop I found myself dreading to use it. The laptop became incredibly hot, and I mean HOT. I would run normal office stuff, with some Chrome tabs open, but when I would launch YouTube, skype or Slack...forget it. I could see the battery draining. To give some perspective, I took a 30 minute break leaving everything I had open, but closing the lid.....I came back and the laptop had lost 8% battery without me using it. To give some perspective, I took a 30 minute break leaving everything I had open, but closing the lid.....I came back and the laptop had lost 8% battery without me using it. I found myself reaching 18% by lunch. That makes it for me unusable as I travel a lot and not always near a charger.I believe the Snapdragon X Elite is efficient and powerful, but Samsung has not tuned it to their build. Its a waste as I know Microsoft and others are faring far better with lower SOCs levels. I know that arm64 has issues with the new chipset, but this is not good. To fix this I bought a Microsoft Surface 7 with the Snapdragon X Plus (lowest chipset) and 512G RAM and with even more intense usage I reached above 60% by lunch. That says something.Because of this I had to return it. Extreme heat and poor battery life. Sorry Samsung, maybe next time.

[Rewarded Review] Stunning laptop
24 June 2024

I've been using the Book4 Edge for the last few days, and I'm amazed at how good it is. Samsung's always had great OLED screens, and this laptop is no exception. But here's what's different between this and previous laptops:1) The Snapdragon chip is crazy fast, and sips power. It's amazing to go a whole day with the screen at 100% brightness. And the responsiveness and the speed of the processor is astounding.2) Samsung's previous laptops have had poorly tuned touchpads, and I'd often have to turn off the various windows gestures. No issues here.3) The thinness and the lightness of the laptop for a 16" model is stunning.4) I've been able to run a number of games at 1920x1080 resolution at 30+ fps. The AI up scaling isn't turned on for most games by default, which is a bummer, but I expect that to increase over time.5) The best thing about it is the speed that it turns on from sleep. As in, instantaneous. You open the laptop and it's on. If the laptop is open but asleep, and you touch the fingerprint power button, it's instantly on and you're logged in. It feels more like a tablet than a windows PC.I'm a little sad there's no Windows Hello facial recognition, but that's pretty much it. Everything else is fantastic!

[Rewarded Review] The future that should have been present already
13 October 2024

This is my second Snapdragon X Elite laptop and second I am forced to return, but not because I have compatibility issues with the non native arm software. Both laptops were open box but I doubt new condition would be any different, and some issues may be specific to this very unit, some will probably be fixed in the future updates.Hardware related - the only CTRL key (since copilot button replaced the right ctrl key, and why ctrl, why not alt who uses both alt keys, or give the remap option as a choice), so the only CTRL key has a different and very loose feeling and irritating sound when pressed; left Shift key has a similar loose feeling, Backpace to some extent, so all wider keys except space bar, while all normal keys are very firm and pleasant to type on ... MoreThis is my second Snapdragon X Elite laptop and second I am forced to return, but not because I have compatibility issues with the non native arm software. Both laptops were open box but I doubt new condition would be any different, and some issues may be specific to this very unit, some will probably be fixed in the future updates.Hardware related - the only CTRL key (since copilot button replaced the right ctrl key, and why ctrl, why not alt who uses both alt keys, or give the remap option as a choice), so the only CTRL key has a different and very loose feeling and irritating sound when pressed; left Shift key has a similar loose feeling, Backpace to some extent, so all wider keys except space bar, while all normal keys are very firm and pleasant to type on given the very thin laptop profile. From my experience in the past this key will eventually fall off so I do not want to deal with the warranty replacement and am force to return it to BB while I can. Since laptop is practically silent this is even more noticeable. As far as I know I am not OCD or this issues triggered it.All four "feet" that laptop sits on are also quite loose, but not noticeable or intruding as CTRL key.Power profiles are inconsistent - Samsung High Performance profile is different from the Windows Best Performance. Only with the Samsung High Performance profile you can get close to 4GHz on one core, or higher than 2GHz on all cores for a longer period of time, with fans spinning higher (still way quieter than any x86 laptop)Geekbench gives great results, however Cinebech 2024 arm version gives very low score compared to other laptops with the same Snapdragon version.AI performance is also very inconsistent, and that is why I mostly bought this laptop to try on. I am talking local large language model consumption that can be very well executed with more than 10 tokens/s rate, while AMD or Intel (previous gen models but still marked Copilot AI) gets 3 token/s at the same tasks. But then, it would go down to 3-4 tokens/s without any reason, and I assume it is related to power profiles. However while doing high intensity tasks even for a short period of time cpu produces strange sounds not heard by me from the time of intel cpu 20 years ago, when I had to go and use special tweaking software to deal with the cpu states to mask the noise. It is not cpu fan but some kind of electrical interference.Screen is fantastic but randomly flickers for a fraction of second, noticeable enough, and very annoying. It happens in Chrome, Zoom, did not notice in Edge. First I though it is related to variable screen refresh rate, but not, happens regardless of the setting when video is played or camera in use.I had a few OLED laptops and never experienced color change on video being played while scrolling up down? When charged can get very hot. When taxed with longer tasks can get very hot.Battery life is good having in mind smaller battery compared with my other Asus Rog Flow X13 AMD 7940HS that had noticeable lower performance on battery. My mixed usage gave me 10+ hours on both, but again Snapdragon had a better performance and 54Wh battery vs 74Wh on AMD.Now the goods - I love overall performance on day to day tasks, very snappy, Excel is excellent, practically no performance loss on battery, instant on most of the time, arm specific application works very fast compared to x86, my own projects that I was able to re-compile to arm works better and faster than x86. It seems like this is the future I was taught 30 years ago learning the risc cpu architecture. But unfortunately still a future, not a present.Mac M silicon is, but Windows Arm is not (yet). At the end, the price % drops tells you all, and I would not even try them at full price.
