I do have the original Tectonic backpack and I LOVE IT. It's very comfy under heavy loads, roomy, pockets for gadgets and the headphone pocket is huge. Unfortunately, the pocket area is about to rip so I've taken it to a Samsonite store to evaluate it whether the damage is a warrantied item. I bought the Tectonic 2 in the meantime and compared to its big brother, I must say I still prefer the Tectonic backpack. Great Business Laptop backpack. we use these backpacks for our field service managers, sales and technical support employees to carry around the country. we are not easy on these backpacks, and they have held up very well. i wouldn't use anything less then a quality Samsonite backpack for our employees. they have held up better than any other backpack we have tried. well worth the money for the service they provide. I know that myself and several other employees carry a heavy backpack (our on the road office) and they have lasted longer than any backpack I have seen.

I use this backpack for work purposes. I travel 80 to 90 percent with my job and this is a great backpack for traveling. It easily fits overhead or under the airplane seat. It is sturdy and comfortable on my shoulders and back. I love the suitcase handle on the back. It holds all of my goods including a portable monitor and laptop. The cushioned laptop pocket keeps my laptop and portable monitor protected from bumps. It has a sturdy handle so that I can hang it on bathroom stalls without worrying about the weight of the backpack breaking the handle. I only wish it had more zippers/pockets to hold items, especially smaller items. It has only 2 small pockets and then the main pocket and laptop pocket.

I like this pocket for grabbing things like tissue, gum, snacks, or a small tube of hand lotion. The things mentioned tend to stick out a bit when I store them there. I know it's not meant to be a closed pocket and it works well. But I do wish it was a little bit deeper. That way, things would sit more comfortably in there. The two cup holders are fantastic. They can fit large tumblers. I use to hold all sorts of misc items such as a leak-proof thermos, gloves, or a compact umbrella. As others have stated, the top handle is great. It's nicely reinforced. It's what I always reach for first when picking my bag off the floor. The zippers themselves are very high quality. They are thick, the straps are large, easy to grip, and the zip action is smooth. I do really like that the bag itself is rather large but light-weight at the same time. This is key for a frequent business traveler whose body gets mangled by carrying laptops and sits in economy class flights all the time. My only big complaint is that I wish the bottom was more reinforced. If your bag is sitting on a hard floor and if you don't put your laptop in carefully, it will bang the floor.
I was very impressed with this backpack. It is the highest quality backpack I've ever owned. There is additional padding on the back straps that make it supremely comfortable. It appears very well constructed. I trust the Samsonite brand.
I was looking for a backpack for my outing / bushwalking. I didn’t want a heavy bag. This bag is pretty light, only 0.8kg with thick padding to support your back. I wish the bag had more pockets to organise my small items.
I've had this bag for several months now and it still looks like new. No issues with zippers or straps, everything feels sturdy and well constructed. My large 17" laptop barely fits in it, but it does fit. Nice size with plenty of pockets and places for so many things: cables, water bottles, sunglasses, etc. If needed I could probably fit everything I need for an overnight trip in this one bag. I look forward to years of use, and I expect it to last.
Great laptop bag. Zippers are smooth and good quality. Durable material. Protects your laptop with thick insulation. Enough space for other things like chargers, water bottles, textbooks and gym clothes.
I really like this backpack for its generous size and key features: strap for a suitcase handle, side pockets for drinks; several outer pockets for small items (though I wish it had compression straps - the only thing it is missing). However I am disappointed at the quality. My previous backpack (from a different company) lasted for many years. This is not very old but out of warranty, and the zipper on one of the compartments broke. The teeth just pulled out from the tape so it can't be repaired. Bummer.
