I had tried on all sorts of boots eg Lowa/Crispi etc to upgrade my stiched danners which i wear 80plus hours per week. All far too narrow. But i tried on the civilian quest 4d and WOW.So jumped on Varuste ordered the forces version and damn best boot ever. Wide fitting but snug and the toeball step off is perfectly set for jogging or fast walking. And the heel stability is exceptional. Softer material under the laces is easy on the top of the foot. Im loving these. And they are grest looking. ORDER FROM VARUSTE. BEST PRICE. BEST PROVEN HARDWEAR GEAR. AND SUPERFAST EASY PROCESSING AND SHIPPING. REVIEWER FROM NEW ZEALAND.

Former military (USMC), later a cop for 29 years and an avid outdoorsman. I've been issued and bought myriad boots. This one, my friends, is the absolute gold star. Lightweight, phenomenal ankle support (without being restrictive), rought-out black leather with thick Cordura nylon, completely waterproof (fully submerged tested), fast rope instep (not that I'm planning on doing that craziness anymore) and as comfortable as your favorite sneakers (that's tennis shoes if you're not from New York). I wish I had these boots available to me years ago. These are 3 season boots for daily wear; hiking, fishing, climbing, hunting, just walking/standing around etc. I own and and have tried a lot of boots, all the big names, mostly tactical types (most comfortable and practical ... MoreFormer military (USMC), later a cop for 29 years and an avid outdoorsman. True to size, love em!

This is the best boot I've ever had. They are sturdy and protect my foot extremely well. They don't create any hotspots and sinch up very well around my foot. I had these crawling up rocky hillsides and trekking through swaps and they have held up spectacularly. They lock in the ankle while also fostering mobility and flexibility. These are by far my favorite boots and when my pair finally needs retire I will defiantly be getting another pair.

I have owned two pair of the over-ankle Quest 4D 3 GTX Hiking boot. They are as comfortable as a favorite pair of slippers, and easy to get on and off, and my first pair lasted 1,325 miles of hiking before I retired them to yard work. I got these high top boots because I now needed something with extra ankle support. These are a great higher version, very comfortable. They are harder to get on/off because they are higher, but Salomon should have used open eyelets for the upper 3 lace holes and solved that (hence I only gave these boots four stars). As with all Salomon footwear, throw out the factory insole and get a proper arch support (I use the green Superfeet Trailblazer Hiker models).
Two out of the five reviews are low stars. One review was a small defect, the other was a customer service issue. Overall, my experience with these boots, (my wife has an identical pair) is nothing short of tough, durable and perfect for long winter-rough terrain hikes. Excellent service boot as well. I’ve tugged and pulled on these laces to recreate the issue that one of the other reviewers had and I couldn’t break it. I really did put it through its paces. Perhaps the quality of the stitching was overlooked. Personally, I think high end brands like this should consider to stop using other countries to make their boots. Charge more if you have to. QC issues can cancel out brand loyalty real quick. I’m still in, but obviously others not so much… Anyhoo — Once ... MoreTwo out of the five reviews are low stars. Water resistance through partially ice covered steams, up rocky hills and over fallen trees. I even slept with them on one cold night. Great boot.
After about 3 months of almost daily wear, the left boot started leaking. It’s been about 9 months that I’ve owned them and they’re good but I don’t love them. Main think for me more than the leak is the squeaking. The plastic squeaks constantly as you walk. Maybe ok if you’re working in an s2 shop but not ideal for hunting. If I was to buy them again they’d need to be about $100 cheaper for me to do it. Not the worst but definitely not the best. I’ll keep wearing them until they fall apart but so far it seems the outsole with last longer than the boots themselves.
I’ve waited about 6 months to write a review on these just so I could get a good feel for them. They’ve been what I’ve worn daily and they’ve been good but I feel for the price they could be better. Break in wasn’t anything terrible. Although they were a bit tight out of the box. My biggest complaints are that the plastic covering the toe started separating after about 2 months. And that may have been what started allowing water to seep in but I’m not positive on that. It’s a slow leak but after about an hour of hiking in wet grass on a hunt my feet were soaked but still warm. Wool socks help. All in all I like these boots but given the fact they didn’t even last a year I wouldn’t buy them again unless they were about $100 cheaper. Love the boot. Light weight and comfortable. A bit warm for summer wear but will be great for the fall. Only issue is depending on the amount of lace tightness the eyelets on both boots can dig into your ankles/feet. I adjust the tightness and seems to help. I love the design of an eyelet that secures and maintains tightness. It works so well that it’s pretty tough to unlock them but that’s great. I’m thinking on buying my wife a pair next sale.
My left toe got ripped in an open grassy field, I didn't trip or walk into anything I have no Idea what happened to them I didn't notice until I was taking them off. Since one was torn I decided to check the waterproofing on both of them in a bucket of water, the one that was torn was waterproof but the one with not a single mark on it leaked like a submarine with screen doors. Mind you, I had only worn them for a total of 3 or 4 hours. I'm so dissapointed in the quality of these $300 dollar boots I could scream. My $120 Reebok's are 10X more reliable than this. I tried a warranty claim and haven't heard back if the rectify this and the next pair are better I will update this. My overall first impression is that with these boots your buying a brand name not quality.
I purchased a pair of these boots in sept. Of 2023. The boots fit great and felt great. However! The eyelets on the boots wore out within 3 month of moderate use. When I attempted to complete the warranty, the warranty would not process. I’ve made several attempts and have given up on the warranty process. I’ve tried to contact customer service via phone with no success. The text support line is a bit so pretty much useless for me as well.
