Really wanted a portable pin nailer due to the convenience. Pulling out the air compressor to fire 2 or 4 pins is a pain. Got the Ryobi based on positive reviews. First the strike is not as powerful and the gun size is much larger than my Rigid so it's hard to get into confined spaces. All 3 stopped firing nails after 1-2 weeks of occasional use (100 nails). The light comes on when pulling the trigger but nothing happens. No noise nothing. Hard to believe this could occur on different units.

This Ryobi 23gauge pin nailer performs well and does what it's advertised to do. It sets the pins nicely with no issues. It's not painfully loud when it fires and the lithium battery is long lasting. The LED light is excellent. The longest pins it can load and fire are 1-3/8". Would be nice if it could have gone to 1-1/2". I've had no jams, loading is simple. The shortest pins it can use are 1/2". The pins do almost disappear which is delightful. It's a good little device that performs well. I suggest a pin nailer purchaser review the comments by buyers of the pins. It's clear that some pins do not perform well in some nailers (Makita in non-Makita pin nailers) and other brands perform well in all pin nailers (pins from Porter-Cable). I was excited to learn I could purchase both galvanized and stainless steel pins for my nailer. As a last note some buyers did not realize that these "pins" have no head. They're sharpened on one end but are just otherwise are the pins are just a very thin cylinder with no head. But, if you consider nailing pins on both sides of a picture frame corner, you'll realize that this joint is largely locked in - heads not necessary and no heads to show! I recommend this 23-gauge pin nailer.

I have only used it briefly on two occasions and so far it works great. If it is any thing like the 18 gauge, it's an excellent tool. 99% of my many Ryobi tools have been very good, reliable tools. They are not elite tools with an elite price tag that will impress other workers but they get the job done and represent good value. I have the other red, blue and yellow tools but their high price is tougher to swallow when they break down or disappear. And the better performance does not always justify the higher price. These pin nailers are even better value. Years ago I bought the 18 gauge for only occasional use and ended up selling my air nailer.

Useless and don’t buy! I bought this tool with a 5amp battery and a 2amp it was working great at first and out of no where it started to skip and after each pin gets stuck.. I went to Home Depot to return it they said you’d have to send it one of there providers how can fix it and if they didn’t they can replace it with new one because it’s under warrantySend it and after 7 month of back and forth with them it’s still at there shop and they didn’t fix it so I went and bought another one same exact one and after couple month it’s doing the same exact thing !!!Don’t buy this garbage
My experience was not very good at all. First one I bought stop firing after 3 pins were driven in then it just made a cycling sound and no longer fired anything. Returned it, got another and that one wouldn't drive nails all the way in. Almost every nail would stick out about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. I returned that one and tried again. This one was the best one out of the bunch and drove the nails further but you could still feel them sticking out. I ended up giving up and returned it and will look for something else. Unfortunately I'll have to pay more but hopefully something else will be better.
It’s the best cordless 23g I have used yet. Far better than the Makita. (Which is terrible/ jams up/ won’t truly sink a pin in material over 3/8” thick)This will sink an 1 1/4” pin through solid maple, no other cordless I have used can do that. But that’s only if you take the rubber guard off the end. Otherwise it will leave the pin slightly proud. It does not fire all the time every time. Not a miss fire or jam, it just doesn’t do anything. Then you press it again and it works? I have been told the same issue by three other people who have it.It’s also fussy about the quality of pins you use. It works better with a higher quality pin.The light on it is a nice feature, it’s a little bulky to get in tight places. But hey it’s cordless!Just to be clear. It’s does ... Like a lot of people I have been using a brad nailer for my finishing projects. I got into a DIY finishing project and the brad nailer was still leaving too large of a hole that needed to be filled. I did some research on pin nailers. I was able to purchase the Ryobi AirStrike 23-gauge pin nailer on-line though Home Depot. Best thing I could have done. This nailer drives headless nails flush in both hard and softwoods. I have not used it very much on hardwood yet, but enough to be impressed. With no head, the entry hole it leaves can be finished right over with no need to fill. I thought maybe being headless the nails would not hold very well so first thing I did was nail a couple pieces of scrap together and see how well they held. They held surprisingly well. I am ... I am very impressed with this tool from how it functions to how it fits the hand. The LED lights make it easy to see the target area. The two stage trigger makes it safe to use and this means there is no need to press the nailer into your project meaning less marring or marking of the material. This was a good purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nailer that leaves VERY little visible evidence of a nail or entry hole.
I've been using pneumatic Brad nailer for years and always had to fill dents and holes after. I bought this gun to install freshly painter end caps on a kitchen island hoping to keep touches to a minimum. To my surprise, all but 2 pins were perfectly driven (I had to tap 2 with a light hammer because they were just a touch proud of the surface) this saved me hours of rework and protected my project perfectly. The one issue I had is that the gun holds the pin strips really tight and switching lengths often leaves 2 or 3 of the old pins in the chamber. I assume it's extra tight because it's new so fire a few shots into scrap when changing pins so you don't accidentally fire a longer pin into thin matterial. There is also no tools jam removal which hasn't been an issue so far (no jams yet) and the Allen wrench to remove the front cap is conveniently stored on the tool but itis slower than a quick release tab if you run into an issue. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase and can't belive I waited so long to buy this. It's a must have for thin trim, fine finishing work and small wood working projects.
I've bought one directly from store and there was no edge guide that comes with it in the box. Its the exact same model P318 but picture shows has edge guide on it with inch marking. Mine did not come with any inch marking and no edge guide whatsoever. I asked one of the employee to open another box and it was all the same with no edge guide at all. The ones sold in store are probably an older version. I'm a bit dissapointed and wanted to have that edge guide for repeated nailing with accuracy. Other than that the tool works well and still recommend it.
I have had this tool for over a year now and I absolutely love it. I am flooring installer and use it often to reattach baseboard in situations where I don't want a nail head (like on natural wood etc). If you use the X nail trick it holds like a brad nail would. This thing very very rarely misfires and and sets pins perfect nearly every time. it is also supper handy because unlike a brad it can be fired through a mitre to hold the 2 pieces together. If you do a lot of finish work I 10/10 recommend this tool
