Royal Canin German Shepherd Adult Dry Dog Food 11 kg

My dog has always had a sensitive stomach. I used to prepare his food but when his weight dropped alarmingly (to under 34kg for a 69cm dog) and runny poo became a regular occurrence, the vet suggested a prescription diet. After a few months his weight improved but he was still runny from time to time. We decided to try Royal Canin GSD food and there was immediate and lasting improvement on all fronts. He’s 9 years old, a lean and muscular 39kg, and he's fit and full of energy. We started him on the low end of the recommended feeding guide but he put on weight too fast, so I agree with other people who have commented on this, but it’s very easy to adjust for your dog - just measure his food and weigh him every few weeks. Excellent complete feed.

My German Shepherd loves royal Canin. Her breeder uses it exclusively with some fresh meaty bones and my dog isn't keen on any other kibble. She was on the Maxi, but was very enthusiastic when I switched her to the breed specific kibble. She loves this with her bones and a bit of fresh meat.

Full of fillers

I used to get this for my GSD all the time, however after looking into the ingredients I have found out that this product it is full of fillers like rice and corn (maize). With the main ingredient being rice, and this food still having a high price tag I wasn't very happy about it. I understand a lot of the dried dog foods do have rice or corn in them however you wouldn't expect them to be the main ingredient in the food. I also found that the feeding guideline for this product are extreme and the dog should only be fed about 2/3 of what is recommended. My German Shepherd is quite active and would be busy playing during the day, go out for a 4km run/walk daily and we would throw the ball around for about 15-20 minutes. The recommendation from their guidelines for his size is 379g low activity, 499g moderate activity & 579g high activity, however I would only be feeding him roughly around 340g (4 cups) a day and I would class him as moderate activity and he definitely isn't hungry or requiring more food. I don't understand why they would advertise to feed your dog more food then is necessary especially since German Shepherds are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia and for them to be carrying more weight then necessary can cause lots of problems. My dog also did go through a stage where he just would not eat his food at all. He is very happy to now be on the BARF raw food diet.

Great dry dog food

Very happy with the German Shepherd specific Royal Canin dry dog food. My dog wasn't keen to eat it at first but 20 seconds in the microwave seemed to make the difference. Pet circle is a great company to deal with.

Royal Canin is the best!

We have always had German Shepherds and for the last ten years we have been feeding our Shepherds on Royal Canin. Our ten year old girl started on RC as a pup, and she is very healthy and her coat is stunning. Never any problems with her digestive system and every day loves her biscuits. It is the BEST!

The best food for your dog

We used to use other foods but since using Royal Canin my dog doesn't do smelly farts, his skin and fur stays fresh much much longer and best of all we only have to pick up once a day and that too doesn't smell bad. My dog is nearly 10 years old and still like an eager pup/ What more could you ask for. I have had other dogs before not on R.C. and the story is quite different.
