We finally found this at Kroger near the Tomball area. I had a campaign with Ripple Street. It’s actually not my taste for wine but it’s not bad. A bit sweet but mostly bitter. I only had a tiny bit since I’m pregnant but we plan to pair it with some cheese and fruit this weekend when we have friends over. My husband was not a fan at all. He prefers sparkling wines that are sweet. Same with his cocktails. The guy who helped us in the store said that this wine is mass produced so you’ll never get the same taste twice. That’s disheartening but we’ll probably never buy it again.

It was a bit dry for me. Personally, red wines are strong for me so I like to pair with food. I paired this Cabernet Sauvignon with ground meat and sausage pasta (White sauce- Bolognese). I also made Cabernet Sauvignon Red Sausage Pasta with my leftovers. Strikingly, this red wine was not as strong as I was expecting. While opening and smelling the wine, the blackberry and black cherry fragrance and taste were dominant. We were able to taste the the hint of oak barrel and vanilla. I would recommend to an oenophile.

I really enjoy Robert Mondavi wines. when I do drink a red I like a Bourbon barrel Cabernet. I like his texture. I like his flavor. I love the taste of the bourbon which is weird because I'm not a bourbon drinker by any means! but I love the different flavor that it gives a Cabernet or a Chardonnay. in fact, his bourbon barrel Chardonnay is absolutely wonderful! it has a decent price point. I've sold it in my restaurant. I've carried it and his other products on and off for 9 years. He has great products. Robert Mondavi rocks!

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon is my new favorite. It has a bold flavor and aroma that highlights the Bourbon. The aftertaste is pleasant and satisfying. The mouthfeel is on point. We enjoyed this exquisite wine with a cheese fruit tray appetizer and a meatless pasta meal. I feel it will pair well with any hearty food. I will purchase again for myself, as well as, to serve/gift to family and friends.
My first experience with wine aged in whisky barrels. The nose is slightly smoky, with dark fruit and then the distinct smell of bourbon. It's medium bodied in the mouth with, berries, oak and then the bourbon finishes. I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth this is. Can't decide if itsit's whisky or wine kind of evening? Try some of both.
I hesitate to write this recommendation for fear I may ultimately face product shortages!!! Well done, Robert Mondavi!! This private selection Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Red Wine is devine! I love a BIG red, and could not be more pleased with the complexity and mystery of this lovely vintage. I want to buy them all for myself and a few friends! Truth.
If you haven’t tried this one you should. I’m a huge Malbec fan and I like my Cabernet as well. But there’s something really rich about this wine. I like the bourbony flavor and the oak tones. For the price you can’t beat it. I would set side-by-side with more expensive wines and still choose this one. Now you may or may not like it but it’s been a winner for serving to friends for dinner, cocktail hour as long as I’ve been able to find it. So for the price give it a try… Hopefully it’s something you will enjoy as much as I have!
EXCELLENT !!! I went back agin the other day to purchase more wine AND also my favorite liquors and beer. I make the trip from Hazlet because it's worth it and I also compliment the staff when I am in the store for their assistance!!! GREAT!! Thank You! Joey
This wine will never receive an award at a Paris tasting. No problem. This wine is excellent for your every-day quaff with food or by itself. For the price-point, you can't beat a reliable name like Robert Mondavi. Red fruit forward on the nose, with strawberry and cherry, cherry cola, and red licorice. Similar on the palette, along with hints of oak, vanilla, and chocolate, with a creamy texture that doesn't overpower. This is not a super complex wine, but it satisfies the taste buds and does what it's supposed to do...like a white T-shirt that fits just fine. It won't turn the fashion industry upside-down but it serves its purpose.
As far as domestic wines coming from the mass production vineyards of California go, it's not bad. It's dry and with some very high oak notes coupled with some vanilla sweetness from the aging process. I would not go so far as to call this complex or layered. It tastes pretty much like every other California cabernet. More sweet than earthy. But hey the price is right and you can put it on the table in mixed (friendly) company and not be ashamed of the label. Especially if any of your guests watch PBS because this vineyard sponsors pretty much every cooking show. I'd probably use this more for cooking and braising than drinking in the future.
