The Ring Chime is a handy addition to any Ring doorbell setup. It provides a loud and clear notification sound when someone rings the doorbell, ensuring you never miss a visitor. Its easy installation and adjustable volume make it a practical choice for enhancing your home security system. However, it's a relatively simple device with a limited purpose, so its value depends on your specific needs within your Ring ecosystem.

Pros: Really sharp image when in use, fantastic night vision. Connects to devices easily and maintains connection throughout the day. Small and discreet, ideal for speaking to anyone at the door when not at home.Cons: Maybe not as easy to install if you have no tech knowledge however easy enough to get electrician to do so. If signal poor image can take some time to appear on device.

My flat is on a level like the 1st floor of a flat but the Ring doorbell needs to be closer to the router for a good signal in order for it to work. The Ring doorbell has lost connection many times and I've had go downstairs, unscrew the 2 bottom screws to get to the reset buttons. You also need to be prepared to leave your mobile on wi-fi or your data all the time for the doorbell to record. The Ring doorbell is like a mobile phone when it comes to charging it so be prepared to removing the 2 bottom screws, unmount it and take inside to charge via usb charger weekly. I am thinking about returning this doirbell as it's not living up to what I've heard about it, disappointed.
Purchased the Plug In Ring Doorbell during a JLewis promotionWanted a bell for the kitchen areaIt can be programmed for Rings & Motions sounds/ volume adjustmentIt has a small blue led warning light that can be switched off.Device Health showing signal strength & wifi connectionAlso it has a snooze function so it is possible to put on mute for a set timeAlthough the notifications come through on a mobile phone, this is a back up, as sometimes a mobile phone is not available.
My first wireless Chime just quit on me without warning. One day it was working, and then the next day it wasn't. It lasted about 2-3 years. The new wireless Chime, I guess you can say Gen 2, is not only better looking (it doesn't look like a Lego block with outlet prongs), it functions a lot better. There's a blue indicator light that shows you that it's connected, and there are more notification sounds to choose from the previous model. Why didn't I spend the extra $20 for the Pro model? There are two reasons, I didn't need a night light, and two, I didn't need the Wi-Fi extender. A quick recap, the second generation is more aesthetically pleasing, is eat to install, has better functionality, and for $20 less is a better value, if your Wi-Fi is sufficient.
Ok so they are good but they do have few issuesThe camera seems to have fits and starts, so whole chunks of recording missingI bought this for several reasons one being to monitor my Autistic daughter in case she goes out the door but it is Not 100% on picking up on movementAlso the extra doorbell speaker which is sold based on being able to put it somewhere/anywhere in your house, has a Very limited WiFi connection rangeSo does Not "Go Anywhere"
Tl;dr If you have Orbi mesh WiFi, get the Chime ProWe bought the Chime because we didn’t need the WiFi repeater the Pro has since we have a nice Orbi mesh WiFi system for our house. When it (a version 2) arrived I tried to install it but each time it tried to connect to its own temporary network my iOS devices (I tried several) said it was unable to join that network. After a lengthy call with first level tech support we figured I got a defective device and was sent a new one.Several days later it arrived (turned out to be a version 1) and it too had the same issue. After a while with first level tech support they bumped me up to their “expert” level. Again I spent a while with Matt (the second level support) and we ascertained I got a version 1 device and he ... Again I spent a while with Matt (the second level support) and we ascertained I got a version 1 device and he would send me a version 2.Several days pass and the version 2 arrives. Guess what? It too had the same issues. Called support and immediately asked for the “expert.” Lo and behold I was connected with my good buddy Matt. After a couple hours (and I am not kidding) he suggested turning off my Orbi. I did that (which was no easy task since I had several satellites to unplug) my iPad was finally able to connect and we attached it to a hotspot from my iPhone. However to get the Chime onto my home WiFi we, of course, had to turn back on the Orbi’s and reset the Chime. Again, no connection. We were both ready to throw in the towel and return my Chime for a refund when I suggested maybe the Chime Pro, since it was a repeater, had better WiFi. Matt agreed and arranged to have a Chime Pro sent (my 4th Chime now.)Several days again pass and the Chime Pro arrived. I held my breath and went to install it. It worked! First time, no issues. I want to thank Matt at Ring support for all the great service he provided. So the bottom line is if your Chime doesn’t want to connect to your phone for setup it may actually be your WiFi router interfering and to try the Chime Pro instead.
I bought this thinking it was of use and I suppose it is but it is limited. You can only view live or get live alerts if you do not subscribe to a monthly package. Without the package you cannot save events and view them later. I would have thought you would have an option of storing them in a limited way for free with extra features if you want to subscribe. You don't have an option of storing anything locally on your own device or sd card etc.. So, for me, this is a disappointing product. I think it is important to know that as it would help you make an informed decision as to whether this is the right product for you. I got it on offer so the price was ok and I will keep it but at full price it would have been sent back. I have a far cheaper camera system that I ... I have a far cheaper camera system that I can set to give movement alerts and it stores them for free but shorter than if you subscribed. I will have to point one of those towards my front garden to view and review activity as this doorbell isn't as good an option for that.
Poor wi-fi connectivity. I'm not a fan of Wi-Fi and I do understand why it's popular. I bought the Chime Pro hoping for better wi-fi connectivity I was disappointed. The suggestion to move the Chime or Router closer too each isn't always possible. I went to a lot of work to get it worked. I had extenders setup through out my house with one less than a foot away and still had problems. I finally realized the Ring system perfers a separate 2.4Ghz signal not a blend of the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz as one network. I hope this helps someone.
