You also don't want to have a recipe halved down to 1-2 servings spread like paste over too much pan real-estate. This casserole fits a standard 2 person serving size for a main. 3-4 for for a side dish. If you eat the whole portion you will feel guilty but if you're single then there's no one around to find out.

Bought to replace the middle one in the set that got broken. Very good value for money. My only concern is that the handles are much smaller than on the only one, making it more difficult to keep hold of.

You also don't want to have a recipe halved down to 1-2 servings spread like paste over too much pan real-estate. This casserole fits a standard 2 person serving size for a main. 3-4 for for a side dish. If you eat the whole portion you will feel guilty but if you're single then there's no one around to find out.

I have been using Pyrex products for many decades and love their resilience and durability. With these little casseroles, I can make some home-made spread or pate, put it in the casserole and pop the lid on - all safe and sound in the 'fridge and presentable for the table. They are of course also good for small stews and bakes, with the second days portion cooling and safe in the dish, lid on and stored in the 'fridge.
This casserole DOES NOT have a LID! The first one which was delivered did not have a lid so I reported it and re-ordered another. The second one came without a lid too!
Dish is perfect in size for 2-4 people and is 5 stars BUT I had to look at 3 dishes before I could find a perfect one without chips or cracks in the lid or dish. It’s mainly chips on the lid. So for the price if you can find dish and lid in new condition then great. I suspect this dish will not withstand and accidental drops!
I am not using this as a conventional kitchen accessory; I am using it to bake bread! Because of the risks involved in moving trays of boiling water in and out of the bottom of my oven in order to bake bread I researched on line alternatives. I can now trap the moisture in the loaf while baking by inverting a pyrex casserole and baking my spelt loaves inside them. These 1.6l casseroles are the perfect size for baking two small round loaves!
Broke easily like sugar glass. Could not withstand high thermal temperatures like how pyrex products should.
I broke my last one and cannot function without it! Pyrex is the classic casserole dish. Comes in several sizes and is so versatile for crumbles, stews etc. It washes up really well every time and I think every home should have at least one.
