I hate reviews like this, but I think if done correctly they can maybe help people kind of understand challenges that they might face or situations that they might not have thought of.Before we get any further, if you have more than one cat this system will both cost more and be more work than just a regular clay litter system. I say this because the only way to make it where you're not replacing the cat pads every 2-3 days is by having more than one litter box which just doesn't add up to being a positive investment because now you have to also buy double of everything.Chronologically, my issues came up as so:1. TL;DR This will be a continuous training effort that will probably just never stick. TBH, I have one fairly new cat and they just straight up prefer the clay litter. The instructions say that if you let the cat litter box get dirty enough they'll prefer the cleaner breeze option, but that just never seemed to really work. And then, after I even threw out the old cat litter box because it had already been about a month my newest cat decided that he would just rather use the restroom wherever he pleased if there were no clay litter box.2. I guess my cats poop is just really stinky because basically nothing would get rid of the horrible smell. I even tried the extra strength pellets, but at some point I would just get a whiff of cat poo. I think the biggest issue is that in some cases the pellets just don't have that same coverage ability so there's really no way to stop odors from coming out. I think the solution to this is probably inferred to be that you need to get rid of the poop immediately, but I work long hours so that's just not possible. I'm not going to sit there and wait / watch for when my cat poo.3. The cat pads were actually a pretty stellar thing; however, the cost ratio just doesn't work. I think it works for the one cat situation, but even then it seems like as if I would of had to replace my cat pads every two days to really keep that area clean.Overall, I like the idea of this product. However, for my specific situation outlined in the examples above, this product did not meet expectations and also caused a lot more hassle.

I adore this litter box. I have two cats and have had it for YEARS. My cats use their litter for the entire month no issue. We change the pad every couple of days. It has cut down on the mess and litter tracking a ton. BIG BUT.... The only issue I have is that I really wish this was available in a higher quality material. The cat urine eats away at the top layers plastic over time leaving a burnt looking, porous textured stain that you cannot clean off nor get the odor out of. I also agree with other reviews that the grates in the top layer need to be a tiny bit smaller because the clay pellets easily get stuck in there. I would give this 5 stars if the quality of the material was better, because how it is now, you WILL have to replace your whole litter box just ... MoreI adore this litter box. I would pay the extra just to have this in a better quality option.I also think for now, they could offer the top layer by itself for both the big and small versions of the litter box, so at least people wouldn't have to buy the entire thing once a year just to replace the top layer.

We have two fixed male cats. We LOVE how clean this litter box system is and how little we need to maintain it. We have a shoe tray underneath it to catch stray pellets and we see maybe a couple a month on the bare floor now. We change them once a month. The pads and litter are cheaper than traditional litter, more cleanly, and you'll never have to scoop pee again. Just take the pad tray out, dump the soiled pad in the trash, sanitize the tray with a wipe, add new one, done. I can do all this with one hand, so I've cut down on sanitary gloves too!And the shovel that comes with it is great. It has divets on the corner tips of it so you can easily scoop the tiniest poops that usually fall through the holes.

A friend recommended this system to me almost 5 years ago, and I have never went back. I only have one cat, but this is the most easy breezy type system I've ever dealt with. It is expensive, and normally I will buy the cheapest in most things wanting to save money. But this just makes my life so much easier as it is not messy. If pellets come out you just put them back in the system. With one cat my pellet bag lasts for several months. I've heard of people reusing them and I believe boiling them, but I have no interest in doing that extra step since I'm a mom and already doing too much. Each pad last several weeks for me. Basically, whenever I start smelling urine it's time to change either the pellets or the pads and that's how I know. I've heard of people reusing them and I believe boiling them, but I have no interest in doing that extra step since I'm a mom and already doing too much. Each pad last several weeks for me. Basically, whenever I start smelling urine it's time to change either the pellets or the pads and that's how I know. However, once in a great while I don't smell it at all and I went too long without changing the pad and some urine can leak. I've tried generic pellets as well as pads and they don't hold a candle to these. Recently there was some sort of supply issue where I couldn't find refills anywhere even in my local stores or online and I had to buy generic and it was a terrible experience. The pads were not big enough and you could smell urine immediately. My cat has no complaints, and I'm sure he's happier not having a bunch of litter stuck in his paws. The pellets are dangerous, though, so you need to be careful your dogs are not getting in here. I have a very strict home with multiple dog gates so they cannot get in here since they could choke on these pellets. Hopefully they don't raise the price anymore since it's already expensive to buy these systems and the refills but I'm really happy with them.
I want to offer some information I couldn’t find when searching other reviews along with reiterating what others have said already. Background on my cats and their previous litter boxes: I have two male cats. Both are around 10-13 pounds so they need some room to maneuver comfortably in their boxes. One hikes his behind up high when peeing and often pees over the edge of traditional litter boxes. I had a top entry litter box and a two piece covered corner box before this because of him. The reason I replaced those boxes with this is because 1. My sister said really good things and 2. I was SO tired of scooping the heavy pee clumps, changing the litter often, deep cleaning the litter boxes, and smelling that “litter box” smell. I was SO tired of scooping the heavy pee clumps, changing the litter often, deep cleaning the litter boxes, and smelling that “litter box” smell. Here are my takeaways…- NO MORE SMELL! The only smell I notice is when there’s a fresh poop which either dehydrates quickly, or you can easily go scoop the poop and maybe like.. one pellet that got stuck. I scoop into little snack zip baggies (gross-sounding, I know) and just toss in the trash. No smell in the trash either because the bag is sealed! Alternatively you could just flush the poop.- The pee pad absorbs like a diaper and do not leak from the tray. The pads are also so easy to change! Beats scooping and scraping the big, heavy, stinky clumps daily (or every other day if you’re busy/lazy like me). Those heavy clumps would stink and weigh down the trash too ugh. I live in an apartment so taking the trash out is a major chore for me.Overall, I am EXTREMELY happy. Having this box is making my life easier and my nose happier! The only issues I have is that sometimes the one that spray/pees sometimes gets some pee on the wall. Not enough to make it a huge problem like before with traditional high sides that weren’t really all that high. If the side on this box was maybe a half and inch taller the problem would be solved. OR if maybe they would made the XL in a covered that would be great! The smaller covered box they make is too small for my big boys.Lastly, it probably took my cats about 2 weeks before they decided to use this new box. My sister’s cats adjusted much quicker than mine, so remember every cat is different!I hope this is helpful and I hope this box works for you and your kitties too!
The design of this litter box is awesome, but it’s not perfect. One of my cats is a giant, so this is the perfect size for him. He also has crystals and has had urinary blockages. This is the perfect litter box to make sure he is urinating because urine seeps to the bottom and is absorbed by a pad. You just pull out the drawer, and you can obviously see whether or not your cats are urinating. It took over a week for my cats to take to this litter box. It uses pellets, and my cats are used to crystal litter. Some cats may never take to it, so keep that in mind. This is an expensive litter box to maintain. Basically you have to buy the special litter. No other litter will work in this box. Even pine pellets, when they turn to dust it will fall through the grates at the bottom and make a big mess, and this litter is expensive. A tiny 7lb bag of pellets is $18, but it’s also supposed to last a month. So far at almost 2 weeks, the pellets look fresh and don’t smell. Every time you scoop out poo though, you’ll be removing some pellets. Keep that in mind too. The pads that you need to absorb urine are over $20, and 10ish pads come in a pack. The pads do last a while and don’t smell which is good, but this is expensive to maintain. Also, you’re supposed to use a 3lb bag. It’s not enough for cats to bury their poo, so it sits on top, and it will smell when they poo unless you scoop it right away. You have the option to add 2 bags, but again, that gets expensive although it adds enough Litter to bury poo. However, because it’s overfilled, when they dig, some of it will end up on your floor. Not the end of the world though because it leaves no dusty residue on the floor, and it’s super easy to just sweep up. I wish I could use a different litter with this box, but I’ve had this box for over a week and there’s no smell, and the pellets look fresh, but then again, they just started using it more frequently. I still haven’t been able to get rid of my old litter box yet. Again, this is a great option if you have big cats or your cats suffer from crystals and urinary blockages, but it’s expensive to maintain, and it’s not as perfect as I thought it would be for $80. If your cats don’t have issues with their current litter box or don’t have crystals, I can’t recommend it. It’s a super expensive litter box. It would be one thing if it was perfect, but it’s not.
I have two cats so I bought the XL. It seems to control odor and work well for urine, but I'm not as impressed with the solid waste control. It isn't easy to scoop since some of the feces falls through the holes in the scoop (which is too small overall IMO) and the rest get evenly distributed throughout the box with the cats try to cover them. The feces is really noticeable in the box, especially since it's difficult to get all the bits out.The biggest problem with the XL system (besides how expensive the pellets are) is the "doorway". Seriously? Why is it even there? My cats just sling the pellets out of it. The pellets hurt when you step on them, and no one wants to step on bits of cat poop (or see them on the floor). The idea is good, and the urine and odor control aren't bad; however, the solid waste control needs some work. The overall design - Bad.
I bought the original size Breeze Litter Box system in May 2020. We had adopted an approximately 5-year-old mixed breed, short-haired, neutered male cat then. This is the only litter box system he has known while he has lived with us.I switched to the XL system about a year ago as my cat is 15 lbs, muscular, and, well, looked rather sad spanning the entire box when he had to urinate. Here are my takeaways:1. If your cat does not cover the fecal matter with pellets, this system will not work for you. We have been very fortunate as Blue has had no issues with covering with the pellets. If you are training kittens, you may have to train them to cover their litter.2. Use only the pads that Tidy Cats provides for better scent control. If you are training kittens, you may have to train them to cover their litter.2. Use only the pads that Tidy Cats provides for better scent control. I have used several other, less expense pads, and they did not work for the smell of the cat urine. I would note that intact males probably have an even stronger scent.3. I have a vinyl protection pad under the cat box. This is not because I have issues with my cat urinating on the sides and leaking out; I have forgotten to put a pad into the box and replace the tray. Others have mentioned leaking, but I have not had that issue.4. I have had no real issues with smell. Unlike other cat litter, I have no problem remembering to scoop the litter at least once a week, and to change the pad at the same time for trash day. The smell doesn't drive this, it is just that easy to maintain.5. This cat litter is a solid mineral. When a cat is scooping, you will know it. If you have a noise sensitivity, it may bug you. Blue will scratch in the litter for a longer period if he feels it is too full. It is sort of like an alarm reminding me to check the box.
Purchased this a few weeks because my kittens were filling up the normal clumping litter too quick and it was so gross to clean, every few days!! I read the reviews and also the idea that you can use equine pellet bedding which is super cost efficient and decided to try it. The first week I ended up having to mix in some clumping litter to get them to use it and it worked great, but be forewarned--if you do this put something on top of the slots before you put down the litter, I had a heck of time cleaning up the slots that were filled with clumping litter. But after doing that following the first week it's been working like a charm! See the poop, scoop it out with the attached scoop which allows the pellets to fall through. The equine bedding pellets I'm using have been breaking up when they are saturated and falling through the slats so I check that when it needs emptying. So far I couldn't be more pleased!! Sooooo much cleaner and easier than awful clumping litter that gets hard as a rock in the litter box.
We got this smaller system as a trial in our half bath. It’s a no from our two younger cats. They still prefer to use the boxes in that are filled with fine clumping corn litter. Those are far easier to maintain daily and the odor control is superior. They also clearly don’t like the feel of the hard breeze pellets on their feet and wouldn’t even attempt to cover up poo. Even our smallest cat had trouble maneuvering this small box and they all poo’d on the perimeter of the box only and up the sidewalls. Our only recourse was to add a second bag of pellets around the curved edges to catch it so I don’t have to frequently clean the plastic itself. We have a beloved blind, diabetic senior cat. Our only recourse was to add a second bag of pellets around the curved edges to catch it so I don’t have to frequently clean the plastic itself. We have a beloved blind, diabetic senior cat. We thought the breeze system would help with urine odor control (she’s medicated but still urinates quite a lot) but it has only added stress to her life and ours. She’s just an average size cat but there isn’t much room to comfortably turn around or position herself properly. The sidewalls curve in at the top and reduce space even further. So now she just climbs in and urinates at the front of the box, often part of the way out of the box. I’ve had to place an absorbent pad on the floor under the front of the box to catch the overflow. With only one cat using the box now we are still changing multicat pads in the tray 2 times a week and the one floor 3 times a week because it is unsightly. The fecal matter odor control is not good. One must find and remove remove all the pellets that have the slightest amount of poo stuck to them or odor lingers. This is an unpleasant and time consuming task. One loose poo and it’s curtains for a ton of the pellets. This all adds up to using more and more product that is quite pricey. We’ve only had this a couple weeks and it’s just not worth it to us.If I had any advice to someone who was determined to try this system, I would suggest getting the XL box from the start and buy plenty of pads and pellets.
