There is nothing about this food that makes it a miraculous cure for feline diabetes. The ingredients are low quality (#1 being meat by-products, ew.) Any low (less than 10%) carb canned food will do just as good as this "prescription" food, but will end up costing you thousands of dollars less. The most important thing is that you are removing kibble from their diet, and choosing wet foods with lower carbs. For the amount of money this specific food costs, you could be buying them pre-made raw, and raw is the best possible diet choice there is for a cat! For $16 a week, I am now able to feed TWO of my kitties a homemade diet using a (powder) completer, raw meat, and water. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes a week ago, and this was the food they carried and recommended at the vet. They only had a few cans available, so I ordered this and the dry food from Chewy. The authorization was completed in a day and the food arrived the next, so I didn't have to worry about my guy not having enough of his new food.My cat took to the food immediately and loves it. Even the other cats in the house try to steal his food now because they prefer it over their wet food (they still won't get this because it's just too expensive). My cat has also had diarreah with other dry food - so far no problems with the wet or dry.

We have been serving this product to our cat for several years. She has diabetes and is otherwise pretty healthy. The only complaint I have had about this product is that the cans are so thin that they dent easily and have actually leaked as a result. Purina seems to be addressing this with thicker metal cans. We alternate this product with others just for variety, but you may want to discuss that with your vet.

My cat I found was diabetic. That was in March after winter symtoms. I donot drive, and one day taking Lyft,I saw a vet opened near me. I tookBeckka (no small feat),as she fought not to go into the carrier.I was not to kean on giving her insulin, but I love her.She is in REMISSION AS OF JULY FIRST AFTER we found out for sure(tests). She absolutelyloves the dry food over the wet food. She has to stay on this food to ensurehelp to be in remission. Iam so grateful!!!

Good choice for diabetic cats

My diabetic cat really likes this food. I was worried that it would be hard to transition her from her pre-diagnosis diet, but we've had no problems with getting her to eat this. Our healthy cat even tries to eat some from her sister's plate, so it's clearly popular in our household. We started with the savory selects variety of this prescription food, which was not a success. So even if you've tried that one without much luck, I'd recommend giving this variety a try. The texture is very different - it's smooth instead of chunky.

Inconsistent
7 November 2023

My BeeBee has been on the D/M wer cat food since 2020. She has food allergies and is on prednisolone. She is now diabetic and takes insulin shots twice a day. She was throwing up a lot, and the doctor now has her on two other medications. We went a whole month without her being sick until the new case of food arrived. As soon as she ate the first can, she started throwing up. At first, I didn't realize it was the food making her sick. One case of food will be thick with gravy. Another time, it will be less gravy and smaller pieces. Now I realize she has been getting sick every time I get the one with thicker gravy. That's where the inconsistencies come in. I have now changed her to the Z/D food. I just fed it to her, and she gobbled it up. She has not been sick ...Β MoreMy BeeBee has been on the D/M wer cat food since 2020. It is extremely higher in price, but I read the reviews, and people had suggestions as to how to serve. So, fingers crossed that my BeeBee will start feeling better.

Not Bad, Not Great
28 April 2023

My boy kitty was recently diagnosed diabetic. He was hospitalized for five days, and has lost a lot of weight. He is on insulin now and recovering. He was also prescribed two different meds to increase appetite. Even with meds, he still won't eat more than 1/4-1/5 of a can in each feeding. I can't tell if it is because he doesn't like the food, or because of his illness. It also is giving my other cat runny poops.

Perfect Food for Enteritis

My Lokinator is a domestic tabby and although he is short-haired, he has always had a problem with developing hair plugs or hair balls. He is 11 1/2 years old and I guess overtime his routine purging has irritated his gastrointestinal system, which caused him to have loose stools every now & again. He also is very particular about what food he will eat. He had been hospitalized recently for an unrelated issue, & because of his history, was fed the canned Purina Pro Plan DM. I’d always fed β€œLoki” dry food and of course, because of his purging he was on the thin side. Smaller size cans would be preferred
5 May 2023

My cat likes the cat food and it has been helping her diabetes, but we waste a lot of the food because she will only eat it when it is first opened. I could get about 4 servings per can, but once it's been refridgerated, she will not eat it again. I've tried warming it in the microwave or just leaving it out on the counter beforehand, but neither works. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Otherwise, I am hoping that the company could make smaller sizes similar to the Sheba cat food portions.

purchase of dm dietietic food
17 March 2022

When I found out my cat had diabeties I needed to get the proper food right away. This food I purchased was bundled together so I did not have a choice on the wet food I purchased. Unfortunately my cat would not eat the wet food. I tried for a bit but ended up throwing away the opened cans. So I purchased the same brand but savory selects not pate. I wish I would have had the choice from the beginning. I spent alot of money on food I cannot use. Thankfully my cat likes the dry food and will eat a little bit of the savory select wet food.
