Claiming this is marine plywood is like comparing freeze-dried 'International Roast' to a coffee made by a barista. The outer layers are very thin and splintery and are not bonded well to the inner layers. It appears that glue has seeped through the thin outer plys to the outside faces. It warps if you look at it and is difficult to cut. Sanding it runs the risk of ripping out massive splinters. The only way to smooth off the edges was to use a router with-the-grain, and to use a hand plane across-the-end-grain with a super sharp blade. The only good thing I discovered during this project was the use of baking paper to stop the glue sticking to the clamping timbers when fixing the splinters. As much as I dislike MDF, it would have been a better choice for this ... Poor product not unto the claim of marine grade, Vernier delaminated very quickly. plywood was sealed as per manufactures recommendation. SPECrite is not interested in responding to my issues. 11 full size sheets wasted plus the cost of 12L of marine varnish, every sheet has a issue of delamination im sure the glue is not unto specification as i re-glued a large area of Vernier with a polyurethane glue and this fixed the issues in one area. save your money and do not buy. To put in context had some CD grade plywood outside has lasted longer than this ply with less delamination and no sealer. As plenty of others have said its not up to scratch this should be pulled form the shelfs.

This ply is sold as AA grade, meaning the outer surface should be a high-grade veneer. One of the 4 boards I ordered had a factory repair not consistent with AA grade. This was not a problem for this project, but it should not have occurred. All 4 boards also had large black marks from poor handling. The boards were not very flat, but at 9mm thick, this was not a big problem. Otherwise, the boards were undamaged (other than the things I have already mentioned) and adequate for the purpose, and appeared to be of generally good quality.

I bought four sheets a few weeks ago, Just got around to using it. I cut the first sheet in half and used half for a project. By the next day, the other half had started warping. One of the reasons that someone uses plywood is because of its resistance to warping. Not sure what happened here, laminated sheets not rotated, I don't know? No exposure to water just normal humidity in the air. All were stored outside on covered patio.Note: in your "terms and conditions," I do not know what "All 'moral rights' that you may have in such content have been voluntarily waived by you" means, but I DO NOT waive any "moral rights" that I have to anything. Why would your lawyers want people to?
Bought a sheet this week. Was dissapointed because the quality has changed over the past 12 months or so. You used to get 3 plys around 2mm each plus 2 thinner plys on the front and back surfaces making 5 plys. Now the front and rear surface plys are about a thick as newspaper. You can sand thru them easily if not very careful. Dissappointing that we are paying so much and the build quality has gone downhill. Obviously a cheaper supplier and it should not be called marine ply.
This is not marine plywood. The traditional test for adhesive of marine ply is to cut a ssmall square and toss it in a bucket of water overnight. In the morning, it should be intact. I did so with this product and it blew apart in a matter of hours. I would not recommend for any application in a wet environment.
It arrived promptly but the quality was very disappointing. For $150 I expected a 1st quality sheet. Instead they sent me a banana board. It was obviously a sheet that everyone had passed over and it must have been stored without necessary support to keep it from bowing. I couldn't use it for a table top so it's now very expensive scrap. In the same load they sent me a 3.6m length of blue framing pine, that's was also bent like a banana. Lesson: Got to store and choose your own timber.
Purchased a couple of sheets of 12mm “marine ply” for a job, this Specrite stuff is rubbish! It delaminates and falls apart.Nothing like the stuff we used to buy! Might as well use normal pine ply! This should be pulled from the shelves!
When correctly sealed "AA" grade marine ply is meant to be capable of withstanding the external elements for many years without the risk of grain or pocket delamination. The Project Panel range of marine ply is however not a quality external grade plywood and will delaminate when wet. It is without doubt the worst marine plywood I have ever used and will now require complete replacement costing us many thousands of dollars. Do NOT use this product for any external application. As a QBCC licensed builder / building inspector with over 35 years of construction experience, I would rate this product as very poor.
Warped after I cut it.I have used many different ply's to make cupboards / furniture, and just bought this little panel to complete a project. Cut it to size for drawers (approx 200 wide), but when I came back a few days later it had badly warped (even though lying flat).I have never seen ply warp so badly. Returned for refund.note also it is not 610mm wide but 607mm wide
