Perhaps they are not using it correctly. 45 seconds and whalaa - perfect! No water needed, slide the included tab around the edge and the egg releases so simply. There is never any 'explosion' mess over the microwave.

I wanted a quick egg cooker and this it! Just put the egg in it ,no butter, break yolk, season, cook an 45 sec done! Cleans up easy, just wash out, no sticking. Love it!!

I like this little egg maker. It makes a sandwich size egg with either one or two eggs. I put cheese on after taking it out of the microwave and it melts perfectly. Its easy to clean. I previously used a bowl to make my eggs for sandwiches but it was always very hard to clean.
This is literally one of the worst products I've ever used. For starters, water gets through the holes and gets stuck in the inside of the bowl. Secondly, the lid routinely pops off in the microwave and egg explodes everywhere. This product was definitely not designed well and wouldn't recommend.
