I love my Platy system, but lost my clean reservoir bag. This kit sounded like the perfect solution, rather than buying a new system. Opened the bag, and no cap. Well, sure enough, a cap is not in the description, though the bag in the picture is apparently holding water, so that felt a little misleading. Still love Platypus; works awesome! Just be aware that this won't come with a cap for the 'clean' reservoir; the 'dirty' reservoir does have the quick disconnect female connection.

I love this system! I was looking for a different way to filter water which would allow me to go and complete other camp chores. Since I already had several Sawyer mini filters I decided to order this as well as a hose replacement kit. This seems to work pretty well. I like the Sawyer filters but am not a fan of their gravity system. I like the Platypus bags but feel that their filters are a bit higher priced.

I'll start out by saying that I love my 4L Gravity Works filter system. It's an effortless and easy way to provide lots of water while camping with groups. The frustration that many people have with the thick stubborn zippers seems to be necessary to be able to resist the weight of 4L of water, and I have accepted that ease will not correlate well to the necessary resistance. The dirty bag I have no problems with, other than it is tricky to clean out the hose-attachment port. The clean bag, however, is impossible to clean out due to it being completely sealed besides the single tiny little opening through which you can add or release water. This means cleaning is limited to swishing around soapy water, and no way to ventilate or dry the entire bag to prevent mold ... MoreI'll start out by saying that I love my 4L Gravity Works filter system. I would prefer a second bag with a large mouth opening so I could at least clean out this bag properly, which is why I would not recommend this product if you need a new clean bag (if you need a new dirty bag, I supposed it could be worth the purchase). Instead just buy the 4L water tank as this will serve the exact same purpose but be easier to clean.

Bought these to expand water capacity for Boundary Waters basecamping. I've used the gravity works system for a few years and it's done really well. I bought these to increase the amount of water we can have at camp. For larger groups it's good to have the extra filtered and ready to filter water these extra bags provide close at hand; especially when the mosquitoes are out by the lakeside.
The bags work well. They are quite durable. The zip closure takes a bit of effort but works well, just make sure it is securely closed. BUT, You don't get everything you see in the picture. The clean bag does not come with the cap attachment. That's a big deal, its useless without it.
I bought this system back in 2014 and have used it since. It is great for our needs. When we hike, we generally can go through a bunch of water. The gravity system filters fast and let's you scoop a bag of dirty water, and then go do something else while it filters. Back flushing quickly cleans the filter (though I bought a spare filter, I haven't needed it yet.Highly recomended!
I recently purchased the 4l replacement reservoirs for my Platypus filter which had the 2l reservoirs. I used them on a backcountry hunt/camp. Unfortunately no pictures. They were a game changer. I love the ease of using the Platy system and the 4l size was great. Allowed us to fill our water bottles, make food, and some left over for hydration before having to make our way to the stream to refill. Odd that the clean res. didn't come with a cap though...?
I backpack for at least one week per summer. After two trips, the dirty reservoir valve jammed and I couldn't clip the filter to it. I never let this part of the bag touch the ground it simply clogged with the silty water I was having to filter. I ended up having to filter water through my sock and ad iodine tablets for the last two days of hiking. I like the convenience of this system, but bring a back up of iodine tablets in case!
I used this on the LSHT this week and it worked great!!! The water tasted amazing. Was so worried about it since I had never drank creek water before. It was a god send!! Thank you!
We use it for water supply on canoe trips. The replacement reservoirs are a good adjunct to the Platypus system we already have - particularly useful at campsites with shallow or mucky shores that necessitate paddling out to fill up. The GravityWorks filter system is by far the best one (of several) we have had. Valhalla was the only on-line supplier I could find that had the 4L size in stock, so thank you for adding another go to supplier to our list. Very pleased with the service and courteous communications.
