The pen came with a box, no ink cartridge. Inside the pen is an ink converter. This is my first fountain pen so I didn’t have bottled ink on hand, can’t tell how it writes with a medium nib yet. Other online reviews state that the pilot metropolitan writes well.

Really like these pens - not so expensive that you worry about where you've left it but feels good in the hand and looks great too. I've switched to a fine nib from a medium as after about 6 months usage the medium was a little too thick for my style of writing.

Nicely presented and ready to use right out of the box. Smooth nib that needed no tweaking, just put in your ink and write. No issues with balance either, the pen has been perfectly balanced whether capped or uncapped. A perfect weight that guarantees no writing fatigue. Highly recommend.

Beautiful pen. I had lost my original one and decided to buy a new one. Couldn't go past this pen.
I love this pen, it has a beautiful orange colour with flowers & is super easy to use... shipping was so quick too! Thank you so much, Im really happy with it.
Great intro Fountain Pen, really nice build quality and feel, better starting pen than the safari (maybe). One of the few pens that come with a bladder, makes filling up the ink so convenient.
This pen has a classy look, being the gold it is. In a meeting room, people will take notice and ask you what the pen is. The nib is very fine. If you are writing with lower quality paper or just love a thin line, then this is the pen for you. If you like the Safari fine, then go for this one in the medium. I would probably go for the medium next time. Other than that, everything about it is great. the colour. size. weight. Can't go wrong with this one. It's become a classic so quickly for a good reason.
This is my third Pilot metropolitan (F nib), I had some issues with the nib ink feed of the first couple. One the ink wouldn’t flow and the other had the complete opposite problem. However, I really like the metal body and weight of this pen, and the fact that you can post the lid. It’s a really quality-feeling pen, and is really affordable. So was happy to take my chances on purchasing a 3rd. So far so good, and I’m really happy with it. Inked with an Iroshizuku ink
I bought this pen recently and I really like it! Firstly, it looks really nice - I think it looks more expensive than it is. The gold finish has a lovely matt look. The pen has a good weight to it and balances well in the hand, with or without the cap on the end. I prefer a fine tip and this one is good, similar line weight to the Lamy fine nib. At first, it took a while to get the ink flowing (using the provided cartridge) and I thought it was a bit scratchy, but I'm not noticing that anymore. Comes in a nice case with one ink cartridge and an ink converter cartridge. I am very happy with this purchase!
All metal, robust, writes very smooth. I use permanent ink (De Atramentis document black) and the flow is excellent and the pen start right away every time. I have two of these, and will get more.
