This is the one.

One has an image in their mind of their father's old electric razor from the 70s or 80s, and this couldn't be further from what I remembered. It's a quality piece of kit, designed with the utmost precision. It's solid and easy to hold/use and it's difficult to understand how the silky soft blades can get such a close shave. I've used it both wet and dry and on both occasions I was left feeling smooth and without any burn or irritation. I myself have some facial hair, but found it difficult in the past to find a razor that I can use on the areas of exposed skin and this razor did the job perfectly. However, I do feel that it would be an easier process if you were able to just brush clean the heads and use a spray equivalent of the cleaning solution.I found that the shape of the shaving heads makes it easier to access the upper and lower areas of the lips, again with a good precision cut. I personally found that the shaver was easy to hold especially when I have an issue with my grip.The claim of no redness due to the unique protective coating which lies between the shaver heads and your skin is quite genuine and as a sufferer of shaving redness under my chin, there was no redness with this shaver!In conclusion, the Philips Series 8000 S8697/35 Wet and Dry electric shaver has provided me with a genuine quality shaving experience and would therefore recommend this to anyone looking for the smooth cut feeling.

I did want to get one of the S9000 series but couldn't justify the extremely high cost. I decided to settle for a basic S7000 model to see how it fared. First shave was very good and gave me a nice smooth shave. Using the Groom Tribe app to record and give advice about my shaving technique and time became a struggle to achieve the stated 3 minute maximum shaving time. I found I was rushing to try and cover my whole face and neck in 3 minutes and never got near that time. It does some things well, but fails miserably at others so you'll need a 2nd shaver to compensate.I suspect that it would be ok if you used it every day - apart from hard to reach areas like under the nose. It cuts daily growth well and is quiet and comfortable.It also flies through long growth (a few mm) if you shave evert few days.But, it leaves many many hairs untouched and simply refuses to cut them regardless of which direction you try to cut them.The long hair trimmer is completely useless.
