The Power-Unit for the CLEANER - it's not actually used with the razor stand-alone, since that re-charges the razor via the cleaning operation whilst in use - is incorrectly designed - as that can't be used in a typical bathroom, as the fitting for that location (at a special razor point OVER THE SINK!) would be inappropriate for leaving such plugged-in for up to 4 hours at a time! (The electrical 'plug-fitting' is a weird combination of BS372 (part 1) 2-pin fitting (i.e. 'old British' 5-amp circa 1930 C.E.) with built-in extension piece specifically to fit witin the cavity of a SWISS-unique 2-pin power-socket (would hang right out of a British bathroom power-transformer unit). (That same power-unit is seemingly supplied for use throughout at least Western Europe, just as a cost-cutting cheat). There's another power-unit available as an 'accessory', designed to connect to a standard BRITISH 'Rectangular-Blade' power-socket (well - it looks as if designed for that purpose - but it's another cheat, since it's actually a transformer-unit built within a BS1363 look-alike plug-top, not a proper BS1363 plug-top - no fuse facility at all), but cannot take the obligatory ONE AMP BS1362 fuse. Model S9900 - 'top of the range' pricewise, has contactless charging (why?) needs a cleaning-unit (none supplied) but can't use anything yet designed, because - guess what? - such would be totally incompatibe because the razor itself has not got any conventional plug-in power connection (that specific razor is totally 'contactless' of course & thus totally useless); what a wonderful design! Although all similar models are designed seemingly for both 'wet' & 'dry' usage, there's no cleaning brush in any of the packaging, & the useless picture-form of 'operating instructions' omits anything to do with 'dry' usage'. The Customer Services section appear to be totally unware of particularly the 'cleaner' problem; it took an age before they accepted that there was an issue there in that it's just the obsolete 'cleaner' presently being supplied. I didn't persue the 'electrical' mis-build with them, as such appeared to be totally beyond their comprehension; even the cretins that have written the supposed 'electrical standards', don't understand 'Ring' circuitry fully, & the very heavy power served to all connections (minimum 32-amps, going up to 48-amps at a cooker-point, & up to 128-amps in special circumstances - all requiring the use of APPROPRIATE BS1362 fuses to prevent house-fires WHEN malfunctioning occurs). ALL units already sold should all be withdrawn & the customers be refunded; I'm returning the trash that was supplied to me!I forgot to mention, that each razor model is obtainable in various 'packs' that can include 'accessory' items - but what's included or excluded isn't very clear, & such appears not to adequately justify price differences. All available models are included on the Philip's web-site at FULL RETAIL PRICE, yet disregarding the menus & drilling down with simple searches reveals almost all available at substancial discounts of up to almost 50% on certain items, & at least 20% on most. A 'student discount' is advertised as being available, yet such isn't detailed & the routines to obtain such don't work!

Sounds like a typical Philips next generation step function, always improving.

Failed to send user manual
17 August 2024

It is inexcusable that no user manual was sent with this Norelco 9000 series shaver. This is not a problem with the shaver, but with the person who sold it to me. I searched high and low to find accurate, understandable instructions . If they had told me there were none, I would not have purchased! Extremely disappointed!!!

Top quality product, 10 out of 10 design...

Top quality product, 10 out of 10 design, one issue I would mention is that it uses the battery fast, but as long as you have an electrical outlet handy, it doesn't matter one iota. If you are going camping, however, charge it before you go and top it off. The razor is designed to angle and cut where the whiskers are hiding, and that is a plus, because it's exactly like a wet hand razor in that aspect.

Purchased this razor as my old electric razor started playing up 3 days before an important family wedding. I managed to get the Series 9000 the next day. From the start I thought the way the heads scraped across the skin was totally different from my previous foil head razor. I thought it would just take time to adjust to the new way of shaving with the Series 9000. The motor sounded rather slow and it was only by accident I found that there was a speed control on it, something which is not mentioned in the very poor instruction manual. On the day of the wedding, at the church, my wife asked me if I had shaved properly as she could see stubble on my top and bottom lip. [Rewarded Review] A step above any Norelco shaver I have owned
11 December 2021

Upon using this shaver, it was the closest and smoothest shave I have ever received from a Norelco shaver. The three speed oprion is OK but I keep it on high for quick shaves.Cleaning the shaver is incredibly easy and replacing the blades for the future is just as simple,.and a much better idea than previous shavers, as it has been difficult to even get the correct blades. The cleaning stand is a very cool idea. I haven't used it yet, but looks simple and a great way to keep the blades clean and sharp until, of course, your beard wears it out.Overall extremely happy with this product!

I have been using this razor for about a month at the time I am writing this review. I have always used a standard razor in the past but wanted to try an electric razor. If you let your beard go over the weekend you will have to cut down the longer growth with something else before using the electric razor.Overall, I think if you like to shave often this is good. I think for me this was a little bit of an expensive experiment and I will most likely be returning to a standard razor.

21 June 2023

The shaver now features 3 shaving heads that are removed/replaced as a single unit, whereas previous heads were replaced individually by using a provided “tool”. I had experienced problems with the old design properly seating an holding the heads properly. The new design appears better - time will tell, but I am hopeful. This shaver holds a charge far better than my previous 9000 series Philips/Norelco shaver. I am a LONG term customer of this brand and triple head shaver. I have used Norelco since I was 16, and I am now 70.
