Ink is beautiful, pen is beautiful. The rest is horrible. The rest is quite a different matter. Now, I'm new and I'm giving it a benefit of the doubt, but for some weirdest reason when I write, quite often, the first stroke of a letter is skipped (I write in cursive, so it is usually first stroke of a first letter of every second or third word).I have three other pens (Pilot Metropolitan (M nib) and two FPR Himalayas (M nib & Flex nib)) and none of them does that, so the chance that the culprit is my style of writing or my grip or whatever is quite slim.Pressing a bit harder on the pen helps (although not 100%) with the problem, but at the same time makes my hand cramp much faster than normal writing.Edit: No change after several pages of writing. I feel that this is completely unacceptable for a pen at this price point.Edit2: After some tinkering, careful tines alignment and flossing and washing, casting spells and cursing the hell out of Pelikan I managed to improve writing a bit. It still hard starts (almost 100% percent of the time, even after short rest, say 20-30 seconds capped), it still skips from time to time (like once every one or two sentences) and it still feels like cheap garbage, well at least I think it does, because all my cheap pens are very nice and don't have any of the mentioned problems.I've tried writing to Pelikan support - they didn't even answer.Keep clear, this Pelikan sucks as a company to give money to.Edit3: In contrast Massdrop was amazing in handling this they promptly answered my support request and fixed the situation by sending me a replacement, which writes much better than the first one, still not my favourite, but I'd give it 4- out of 5 (B- for US folk). I'm not changing this review score though, because (I know I'm repeating myself) when you pay upwards of $100 for a plastic pen with stainless steel nib you should expect a quality product and support or at least a show of care from manufacturer. Pelikan just doesn't deliver. There are companies out there that do and for a much cheaper products, look at FPR for example.

Pelikan makes a great writing instrument, and the M200 is no different. If you've held a Sailor Pro Gear Slim, this pen is a similar size, though a tad slimmer. The piston-fill mechanism performs admirably, and allows this relatively small pen to have an impressive ink capacity. The fine nib that I recieved is wonderful. It is a true fine, though I've been told there is a bit of variance. I have not experienced this, as this is my first and only Pelikan. Even for a steel nib, it is quite smooth, and a wonderful writer.

I bought this pen with a medium nib. I usually use broads, but I wanted a change. This is a wonderful writer! The nib writes very smoothly, but not buttery. And the nib puts out a good amount of ink, though not a gusher. The pen is comfortable for any size hand. It's light so my hand does not get tired. It posts easily and snugly. The piston mechanism is smooth. And the pen is awfully pretty. Yes, the pen might be a bit pricey, but for this quality and outstanding nib, I feel strongly it is worth it. I have other M605's with broad nibs and they are fantastic writers, as well, being very smooth and wet. I think it is worth the money.

I’ve been wanting this green/white m605 for a long time! I finally splurged and bought it. I am so glad I did! It writes beautifully. Nice and smooth with just enough feedback that I don’t feel like it’s too slippery when writing. It’s light to hold but is a good size for the average hand. I got the fine nib and I’d say it’s a bit broader than some other fines I have. But not too broad that you can’t write small, neat letters with it. The green lines of the pens body are gorgeous. Hard to capture in photos. Much, much more beautiful in person!! I’m very happy with my purchase!!
Reminds me of beautiful cloudy days with a setting or rising golden sun. Lightness compared to my all metal Lamy LX gives it an edge. Plunger to refill requires more maintenance than a cartridge system hence more time to change ink colours but fun to do and not to complicated. Its light and so be gentle. Love using this pen. Brightens my day.
I am very amateur in the world of fountain pens, having just started using them this year. Between gifts and purchases, I have Pilot, TWSBI, Mont Blanc, Benu, and Lamy fountain pens. Having read quite a bit about Pelikans, I decided to add one to my collection. Wow, such a great pen, and it is not even one of the "high-end models"! It is not heavy and has smooth ink flow. The nib is not scratchy but more on the buttery side. This will definitely be a workhorse pen and I look forward to adding more birds to my collection.
First, the fun stuff...the shape, color and nib are all as expected. Loved unboxing and putting ink in and then using it.The part that is most difficult for me was the section and here I had two issues. First, its a bit short for me. Second, the section (like the entire pen body is formed by three curves) holds the nib in a fixed alignment which is slightly off my preferred grip. This makes it a bit uncomfortable for longer writing sessions.Love the shape, that cap that snaps in place and that this will not roll off your desk. While the cap can be posted, as it is all plastic, it does not add any weight to the back end of the pen. Hence, I rarely post it.Would appreciate seeing this with a bit longer section, the ability to set the nib at any angle in the section ... MoreFirst, the fun stuff...the shape, color and nib are all as expected. This is the fifth Edelstein special edition set in my collection and I love them all. I usually prefer larger, heavier pens but the M200/M205 is shaped and balanced well enough that it is comfortable for me to use. I’ve gotten all of mine with EF nibs and I haven’t gotten a bad one yet. All are smooth and moderately wet (not gushing ink but no scratchy or squeaky sound/feel when writing with the matching inks). The look of the Golden Beryl pen is different compared to the other pens in the series. I think the golden sheen in the plastic is lovely but I wish they could’ve used clear plastic for the internal parts instead of white. I suppose white is less noticeable than the usual black parts, though.Based on some online reviews I was a bit worried the ink would be ... MoreThis is the fifth Edelstein special edition set in my collection and I love them all. I think the golden sheen in the plastic is lovely but I wish they could’ve used clear plastic for the internal parts instead of white. I suppose white is less noticeable than the usual black parts, though.Based on some online reviews I was a bit worried the ink would be too yellow for me or that it wouldn’t be readable with my preferred EF nib. After shaking the bottle, the ink is a beautiful bronzey copper sort of color! The shimmer seems to begin settling to the bottom of the bottle faster than some of the other shimmery inks I’ve played with so be sure to shake it well and fill your pen right away if you want the most sparkle! It looks fantastic in the pen when you roll it around. On paper, the shimmer is pretty subtle with an EF nib and it writes more orange than yellow. I don’t find it difficult to read at all. Probably not an everyday color for me (I lean more toward turquoises or deep browns) but it’s kind of fun and different.*A note on the “Safe to use in fountain pen” rating...I marked this as an ink to use in “economic” pens rather than “high end” only because of the added shimmer. While I’ve never had a shimmer ink actually clog a well-maintained fountain pen, the shimmer particles can be near impossible to completely clean out, even with repeated flushing and soaking. That may not be something people want to risk with high end pens (especially demonstrators, where you’ll keep seeing those sparkles in your feed months after trying out a shimmering ink). I’d recommend Pelikan’s non-shimmering inks for fountain pens of any level.
I love this pen. I have a Vanishing Point, a Studio, and Kaweco Brass... As for travel sized pens (this is a rather small pen), the 205 is probably my favorite. It writes very smoothly with a tiny bit of feedback that simply lets you know the pen is working. It glides across paper effortlessly and is what I guess to be a fantastic introduction to Pelikan pens. If you don't want to invest in a gold nib, this pen will give you the utmost steel experience.I never hear the M205 listed as a phenomenal intro. pen but it really is.I will mention that it is a pocket pen, in my opinion. It's very small until posted.
I have had my eye on this pen for awhile but it was Out of Stock everywhere or only available with a nib size I didn't like. Imagine my surprise to find it on Levenger at a lower price! Admittedly, I did not pay attention to the details, so I was surprised to find out it was a small pen with a filling system I have never experienced, but that is not a problem because I love little pens (it is short, but not skinny) and was excited to try it out! I wanted to get a Pelikan for my collection, and was thrilled I could get it through Levenger, which has been my go-to company for all things pens and paper for years! (My True Writers are still some of my faves!)
