Sadly, I had to return this vest, but only because it was too warm for where I live. This vest is super cozy, undeniably well built, looks amazing, and, of course, super warm.I tried this vest on inside my house and wore it around for about 2 minutes before I started sweating. This vest is warm. I live in Southern California and I figured if this vest is too warm in the winter, it's not going to get much use. If you live in the northern half of the US, or you run cold, this vest will be perfect for you. If you live in a warmer climate or run warm in general, this will just be too much.

I had one of these in high school about 20 years ago. It was dense, unbelievably warm. I mean even though it was a vest it was so warm it didn't need arms or a hood! I just bought this and it is soooo much lighter weight/warmth. It feels as warm as a 200 weight fleece. Compared to an LL Bean similar vest it is half as thick and a third as warm. Even without being windproof it is warmer! For 50 bucks less! 100 bucks less on sale! Very disappointed that you kept the look and lost the functionality Patagonia! Fail!

Runs small. I'm 5'9 ,180lbs and medium size was super tight. Exchanged for large and it fits perfectly. Exchange process was easy. Fast turn around time. Comfy and cozy! Great underlayer for extreme cold or top layer for les fridged climes. Durable build.
Great vest! To be honest, if I was a more skinny type, I would go with M... otherwise I am kind of muscle bulky; usually I wear L, here navy blue L fits perfectly. Tried also white L, and TBH it seemed to be a bit larger. Definitely I would not go with XL unless you cozy a snowman look. Vest definitely has a sharp sporty cut. Love the more durable high collar and wind breaker is fantastic. Nothing to complain about, but your chest will stay warm compared to your arms if you just wear tshirt. Loving it, thanks Patagonia!

I had the vest two days after I placed the order.I wear a size Large in most things. Based on the sizing chart, I thought a Large in this would work. Not even close. Wearing this over only a shirt it was possible to zip up, but it was uncomfortably tight. Think sausage casing tight. I wanted a vest, not a girdle. With other vests that I have I am able to wear a chamois shirt or even a reasonably thick sweater under the vest. That would be impossible with this item. When 90% of the garments that I wear are either a size Medium or Large, and this Large fits like compression shorts, it suggests that there is a sizing issue that ... Usually for an item sold at a premium price, and this vest certainly is very expensive for what it is, the fit is more generous. I don't know who the size models were for this one, but I would suggest that their torso is not that of a person who normally fits into a size Large without issue.
This is my first foray into vests and so far, I'm very impressed. Keeps your arms free but your core warm. For a fleece, it also does a surprisingly good job of blocking wind. The pops of color are really tastefully done to tie it all together. This is a staple piece that should be in everyone's closet. Highly recommend.
Just got the vest the other day and so far I love it. I purchased a size Large which for vests, coats and most sweaters is what I take unless it's described as a more tailored fit, then I will probably go up to XL.I love the vest's features, build, style and colors. It's definitely a quality vest that I really can't envision it breaking down in anyway over time.Unfortunately it is a bit snug fitting down the chest and sides. It does fit me, but I don't think I can wear anything else but a t-shirt or a thinner long sleeve shirt. I imagine if I can lose 3-5lbs then it will fit perfect.If I bought again, I would go up to the XL size so I could be sure to have room in case I am in a pinch and have to use a dryer rather than letting it air dry on my rack.
I bought this as a luxury item for the trail. Its weight is minimal but it adds the extra warmth I was seeking and its very comfortable. I like the fit. I like that the collar fully zips. The breast pocket is large enough for my old man large screen phone. The other pockets are large enough for gloved hands if the gloves are slender. Overall I am pleased and will most likely wear this off trail too.
