I was a little sceptical about this lens but bought it anyway. The long maximum focal length made me worry that a tripod would be essential. I was wrong. The image stabilisation is amazingly good when combined with IBIS on a Panasonic GX9eliminating the need for a tripod in a most situations. The lens feels like a large Panasonic Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 which is great. The image quality is excellent. It is great fun too.It is biggest issue is that it is a large lens compared to some micro four thirds bodies especially when zoomed to 400mm. That can make handling a bit awkward e.g. a Panasonic GM1Overall, I am very pleased with the lens

I had been considering this lens for some time and given the opportunity to purchase a used lens from Wex I jumped at the chance. Can always be totally confident buying a used item from Wex. Use it mainly for wildlife photography. Produces superb images. Very pleased with my purchase.

Brilliant Optical Image Stabilisation. With GX9 automatic focus bracketing. Fast x800 zoom equivalent. Beats the massive lens brigade hands down. Quick on the draw especially with monopod for extra stability. A fabulous combination at ridiculously competitive prices. Tip...fit red dot finder for subject location at arms length. Enjoy...

If you don't need a long lens for low light situations, for the money, this is a great lens. Quality fast lenses of this focal length cost as much as a small car. Focusing is generally pretty good, though sometimes needs a couple if shots at it under some conditions. The manual focus ring is nicely weighted. Zoom ring is just slightly sticky when using small movement to get framing just right but not a big issue. Image stabilisation works very well making sharp handheld shots at full focal length very doable. A fab lens for the money, no serious issues to moan about, great value.
Bought this, as part of my move to Micro 4/3, for my LUMIX GX-9. First impressions are excellent - I took it on a zoo trip and was impressed with the sharpness of the images and the performance of the stabiliser. Easy to use handheld and weight good for a lens of this capability. Plus first rate trade in arrangements from Wex.
I purchased this lens when I upgraded from a G7 to a G9. Image quality is amazing across the board. I mainly use the lens for wildlife shots and sport events. The results have been brilliant. Clear sharp photos are the norm. It's obviously a larger lens than I would normally carry round, but still small and light enough not to really notice the extra weight in my rucksack. Highly recommended, not a cheap lens but well worth forking out for.
800mm equivalent in a moderate size. Anti shake in-lens and some cameras. Compatible with all M4/3 cameras. Very sharp images. Fast focus with my cameras. This was good value as a second hand lens. Brand new it is pricey but you still get a lot of quality for the money Tripod mount not really good enough for the job. Weird zoom opposite rotation to every other lens I have..
This appears to be a good quality, well made lens, with a fast quiet auto-focus, thatproduces nice sharp pictures. While it can be used hand held, it is quite heavy (985gm/2.17lbs) and I find it impossibleto turn the zoom ring while looking through the view finder to frame a shot. Not a lens I would want to carry around all day taking street/candid photos, greatto set up in one place for wild life or sports shots.John Lewis data for the lens says no tripod collar, but there is a tripod mount that allowsthe camera to be turned through 90 degrees.Online reviewers report it has limitations in low light while using the lens at 400mm, asthe max aperture is F6.3.
It's only a short review right now as I've only had the lens a couple of weeks. The images are sharp enough for a lens in this price bracket and the image stabilisation is pretty magnificent paired with the G9's in camera stabilisation. My only gripe at this time is that zoom stiffness!! It's not a deal breaker because the images and the reach are so good... It's not even annoying, it's just a little "hmmm", if you know what I mean.?? All in all a fantastic lens though!!
This is one of the sharpest lenses I have owned in over 30 years of photography. I put no for durability because it can easily scratch which is why from day one I bought a camp jacket for mine. If durability is reliable its spot on. I have used this on a G9 and OMD EM! and EM1 EM1 mk2 and EM5 MK2 to which the focus, ibis and balance all seemed perfect. This really is the lens for Sport and wildlife, especially if you have to do a lot of hiking to the location. Its a fraction under the sharpness of primes like the Olympus 300mm F4 but the Zoom versatility more than makes up for it. Used on the G9 of course you get double the stabilisation working together, on the Olympus you can choose either lens or body IS. In my opinion the lens IS is better for longer focal lengths.
