I applied this to an old camper trailer awning after giving it a clean. It’s hard to imagine it performing any worse, it was almost as if the water came through more in the areas that I applied it - it was almost raining inside. On top of that, it left a white residue wherever it touched, and I ended up with a bit of corrosion stain wherever canvas wetted with this product touched the brass zips.It didn’t ruin the holiday, but it did make the awning area unusable.I thought the people giving it low stars were just making mistakes or being hopeless. I read the msds, tracked down the manufacturers instructions, & am generally pretty handy with things & still got woeful results.

After using another brand that did not work we used aqua proof the results are amazing no more water getting inFor those poor reviews where it’s left marks they clearly have not applied in the correct temperatureThe bottle clearly states it needs to be applied in over 20 degrees with low humidityWe have a blue canvas so these reviews did concern meBut it was a 30 degree day went on white as per others photos but within a few minutes with the heat it dried clear no marks at all

So far so good, applied Oztrail Aqua Proof to my 2000 model camper trailer tent. Started with a brush at first, then changed to a sponge roller. Went on easily and seems to have worked well on old canvas but hasn’t been open in serious weather as yet. Seems to work well, easy to apply.

I have a spray gun, so applied as a spray over small portions at a time of an old oztent 30sec tent. Then brushed into canvas and took special care around seams. The product need time to soak into the canvas before drying. Don't do on a hot day, as it will dry as an outside layer crust rather than soaking in - giving the reported ghostly appearance. Work on small sections at a time to brush the product in before drying. Did two coats and has been used in torrential rain without a drop inside. Very pleased with the results.
Still had leaking in sustained light rain event after two coats on entire tent roof. Allowing several days dry time in between coating. First coat was with a roller, second coat was with a brush and more generously applied, paying attention to seams in canvas and tent still leaked while camping, water came in through seams in places and wicked through canvas. Maybe I need to keep layering it on until all 5L is used, otherwise it's seemingly not up to the job it was intended for.
Instructions not easy to follow to thinly apply as it is about as thick as PVA glue. In the end I mixed the aqua proof with water 50:50 and sprayed it on and then used a broom to get full coverage. I did multiple coats (4-6) on a roof top tent and lower tent. Left the roof top out and then tested for water proof and very happy with results. I only waited till the previous coat was dry before doing next, with in the hour. As I was putting more coats on I stated to notice the as I sprayed it on it started to Bead up like water should on a tent to run off. I did 2 more coats after this point.
Oztrail Aqua proof was great watered down almost half/half water in a cheap plastic pressure pump. I done 4-5 coats, spread out each coat with a broom and let that dry each time. I went out camping the next week and it rained all weekend and we were completely high and dry. Considering the last time I had used the canvas camper trailer which leaked through badly when it rained: I was very happy with the products and my efforts.
I am not happy with what this product has done to my Camper Trailer.I guess I had just assumed this would dry clear (invisible). It has left a horrible Ghostly White appearance all over my canvas. The downloadable product sheet say's "will not cause significant discolouration, stiffness or whitening of fabrics if used according to directions" This product was used according to directions & yet there is significant "Whitening" The information on the back of the bottle is also different to the information in the downloadable user guide. I would like to see actual proof of this product being used on Any type of material without leaving a Ghostly White appearance. I would also like to think that Snowy's had done some product testing before selling this product to the public.
I applied this waterproofing product to a 5m x 4m extendable/retractable canvas awning. Used a paint roller with long handle extension to get to the parts in the middle of the awning. Worked a Treat - rainwater beads on the surface and then drips off to the downward slope of the awning.
I bought this earlier this year after the new years rain we had as the canvas on our camper trailer was leaking and it required resealing.I looked into the product and read the reviews. Most of the issues I have seen was about the application. I followed one persons advice and sprayed it on a section using a 5 litre spray pack that I bought. When it went on it was like a contact adhesive type look, so I went and got a paint roller and I would say it was more like a smear it all over and pressing it in, especially in the seams. I just worked one section at a time from the roof down over several days. Between applications of each section for the roller I put in a plastic bag so it wouldn't dry out. For the 5 litre spray bottle any left over I poured back into the container and gave the spray bottle a good cleanout paying particular attention to the nozzle and even pulling it apart to clean it.All up I put 4 coats on each section and even more on the seams. In the odd places got the odd streak but to be honest I don't care as I'd much rather have it dry inside then be concerned about the aesthetics of it. Since then we have been in heavy dew and rain and not an issue.Just don't look at this product as the be all and end all you also need to look at your set up to make sure any water can run off and not accumulate and pool and soak in.
