Osmo Genius Starter Kit for iPad

My 8 year old son loves Osmo. It's a great learning tool. It comes with 5 games apps: Masterpiece, Numbers, Words, Tangram and Newton. Also, we got 3 boxes with numbers tiles, word tiles and tangram pieces which need to place in front of the Ipad and Osmo will scan it then, during the game. It's magical! All boxes are stackable and very pleasant to the touch. Also, the packaging for the Osmo is very comfortable to store the game in and to take with you when you travelling. I've found three cons, but these cons are because I have Ipad Pro 11-inches. I've checked compatible with Ipad Pro 11-inches too late. 1. Camera on my Ipad Pro is higher than on others Ipads. So, I need to place mirror not too deep. But it's not a big problem. 2. I also have to move mirror a ... MoreMy 8 year old son loves Osmo. It's a great learning tool. So, I need to place mirror not too deep. But it's not a big problem. 2. I also have to move mirror a little bit playing Tangram game. Without it, Osmo doesn't recognize all figures. 3. Another my concern is Masterpiece app. This game doesn't work. I checked all the camera settings (as recommended by manufacturer), but camera is still not working at all. However, I hope they'll fix it soon because another game which scan your drawing works appropriately. Despite on all cons I've found, I give Osmo 5 stars. I believe compatible Ipads work great.

This is my first experience with Osmo brand products and I can say that I am happy with the product if not super impressed. Here is my review of the product: 1. The thing which works well is that it has lot of activities which can keep kids interested for hours. My daughter liked it very much and she devoted few hours on day 1. I think this will keep her engaged for days to come. 2. I especially liked the Tangram as well as Creative engineering activity. These are very different than what other products offer and kinda differentiator for me. 3. The integration with tablet is seamless and I faced no issues. 4. The mathematics module is OK and is on expected lines. I didn't find that very different than others. 5. There are couple of other things also like words and masterpiece which we are yet to explore but they seems to be interesting. 6. Only thing which kind of dis-appointed me is that this product is sort of less stimulating or for sake of better word, challenging to older kids who are around 9-10 years old. Now a days, kids are so much exposed to new things in classrooms that they always ask for more challenges to keep them engaged. But having said that it's good product for anyone 8 years old and less. I can recommend it for sure.

As a homeschooling parent Im always looking for different things to incorporate into our curriculum that is a win for both myself and my son. Anything that offers educational value and is fun and engaging is already ahead on my list. This is why I was more than happy to try adding the Osmo Genius Starter Kit to our curriculum this school year. This kit included the base, which holds the iPad in an upright position and some tiles/pieces, which also came with colorful storage cases to keep them secure when not in use. There are 5 games included and my kids favorite by far is Tangram! I loved the tangram game myself as a kid in school, so this brought back memories. Set up and access is easy enough for her to complete on her own, and I love that I can customize the levels to her needs. The system gives kids a sense of independence with the ease of use, and turns screen time into something educational. She would seriously play all day if she could. I notice her spelling and creativity improving thanks to this kit. I have already shared with my homeschooling group how great it is, and will be looking into other kits.
