After reading high reviews for this food, I purchased it for my 7.5 month old French bulldog, hoping it would help reduce his shedding. Unfortunately, it did not suit him at all. I tried to stick with it to allow his tummy to adjust to a high protein dog food, but it just did not work out for him. My frenchie’ suffered from severely smelly gas, excessive shedding, and very loose stool. I finally took him off this food and switched him to freshpet and homemade ground Turkey food, and his issues have been resolved.Based on my limited experience, I would not recommend this food for French bulldogs.

In addition, grain-inclusive food causes his stool to be soft. I bought this food for my Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd, & Siberian husky. My pyrenees and shepherd love the food but my picky husky refused ALL of Orijen food and will only eat Purina Pro Plan original chicken dry food. However, my pyrenees and shepherd are the two who have had surgery on their leg (TPLO) and cannot run like they used to. I follow the feeding instructions for their weight and they have both lost some extra lbs! I am very happy with this food! Might not be best for picky huskies but overall it is very healthy and will help your pup lose weight. I tried the fancy prescription weight loss diets the vet recommended and those didn't work as well as Orijen fit & trim!
My two rescues can't wait to eat their Fit & Trim. Both of them have to watch their weight - the frenchie for her long body & the puggle since she gets heavy quickly. They love it and my puggle lost about 5 pounds this past year with this diet - a little in the morning for both of them and their main meal at dinner. The puggle nearly swallows it whole, while the other one chews every bite. The first rescue, the puggle, came with a huge bag of Tractor Supply and though it was sufficient, she had so much gas, I could barely stand to be in the room with her. Once she started gaining weight, I researched and found this and it's been with us for 3 years now. I feel like they're getting a well-rounded meal & good nutrition every day. And if they're happy, so am I.

Either way, we will feed him this for the remainder of his life. She's happy, looks great, and barely has a hitch in her giddyup anymore. She has even resumed her role as a professional bunny and squirrel chaser.All of that said, this food isn't a silver bullet. Activity level is a critical component to your dog's weight loss, which I assume is what you're after since you're reading reviews for a "diet" dog food to begin with. I highly recommend this food to aid in a weight loss program - it is senior and sensitive-tummy dog approved! The Orijen brand is truly unmatched in terms of nutritional content and quality of ingredients. It's expensive, but the improvement in my dog's health and quality of life has been more than worth it.

I was recommended this brand of food from a lot of online sources. I’ve heard that this brand uses some of the best ingredients so I wanted to give my dog one of the best dry foods. While my dog loves the taste of the food, I don’t think it sits well with him. His stool is good, he was transitioned on it properly, however his gas is horrendous. On top of that this food has made his breath smell so awful. The kibble itself has a very strong smell so it explains the bad breath. I have noticed him looking leaner on this food, however I don’t think I will be purchasing this kind again.
