Opinel Knife Carbon Steel No. 12
Carbon steel is the steel historically used by Opinel, which has contributed to the brand’s global fame. The carbon steel blade is marked by its exceptional cutting quality and ease of sharpening. the knives are ideal for DIY, gardening, sculpture, wickerwork etc. The blade requires specific maintenance to avoid the risk of corrosion. Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, their beech is hard, durable and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light colour varies from yellow to pink. It is characterised by the presence of numerous small dark dashes. Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).

Larger knife than expected it’s an opinel 12 but hey my judgment doesn’t mean I didn’t get a good knife !!! \nVery well made it’s that opinel quality!!\nSharp !! Isn’t the word \nVery fast delivery impressed with seller and their stock so will be looking again
The product and materials especially the steel is high quality and should last a long time. My fault though I should have researched how big it is. It is a big knife too big to carry as a pocket knife. I probably will never use it.
Opinel Carbone knives are always good quality. What I would like to comment on is the excellence of the service I received from Hollands. I actually ordered the wrong size, and they couldnt do enough to ensure that I received what I wanted. Fantastic company thanks.

The Opinel line of lockable folding knives are simply the best available, not just for the money (they are comparatively dirt-cheap), but at any price. I've carried a carbon-steel #10 for over 30 years, and still do. It's great at holding a razor edge, as are all the carbon-steel Opinels, and the mechanism is too simple to fail. This #12 that I just purchased on eBay is roughly the size of a USMC K-Bar, but will easily fit in a pocket or purse when folded.
I bought Opinel knives for my daughters as I want to teach them woodcraft skills. The knives arrived quickly and they are of excellent quality. ExtremeGB offered not only the size I wanted (No.6 being smaller than standard and not easily available) but also the most competitive price. My kids find the knives easy to use and enjoy learning with them. I personally like the safety aspect of Opinel knives which have a twist lock, ensuring the blade can't fold back on little fingers when in use.
I bought my opinal no. 8 exactly 50 years ago ! and it has done an awefull variety of jobs !! A selection of jobs ,,,,,ll cutting string , newspapers ,un wanted card boxes of large and small size . Drawing poultry prior to trussing and roasting !Gutting freshly caught mackerel ! Ihave also boned out a raw leg of Lamb !Pruned plants in the garden ! In fact there is nothing that i have NOT done !One thing though !,,,,, I wish it was fitted with a lock for when its in the closed position !
