onn. Google TV 4K Pro Streaming Device (New, 2024), 4K UHD Resolution, Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos, Hands-Free Voice Control, Smart Hub

This is an amazing product! It's like they're practically giving this away with how much this streaming box offers. Don't let the price convince you it is not as good as a higher end model, like the shield. The amount of storage is more than enough to have your favorite streaming apps installed and then some. If you don't like cable, you can get great deals on watching shows and movies if you look hard enough, wink wink. What would have been great is if the built-in google assistant speaker also acted as a general speaker for audio in anything you watch, but I suppose a bluetooth speaker would be miles better in quality anyways. This is also a great item for your folks who don't have a smart tv or their tv's are years old. Instead of forking over big bucks for a new ... MoreThis is an amazing product! Instead of forking over big bucks for a new modern tv to access modern apps, this onn 4k pro will be their best bet to an affordable entry to the world of entertainment. I highly suggest this product once again. Did I also mention that this is a great device? I can't remember what I was writing about now. I'll just end this sentence right now and probably order a chicken cutlet sandwich w/ honey mustard and pickles on a roll and sit in my room wondering when the Switch successor will come out.

I am really liking this device from ONN / Walmart. I have been a long time Chromecast user - and I really NEED the ability to cast from website and have a device that is powerful and has Android TV OS.I was hesitant to purchase this, as I already have a remote and it's basically the same as the Chromecast. I purchased because my Chromecast 4K with Google TV feels sluggish, and I don't like that it wouldn't take an Ethernet port without an adapter. That's just garbage. That said - with this ONN device it was night and day difference. The remote has more functionality (including a favorites button which I love) and it feels better in the hand than the Google remote. The UI is fast, and so is the wired Ethernet connection.I have purchased other ONN devices (a ... MoreI am really liking this device from ONN / Walmart. The remote has more functionality (including a favorites button which I love) and it feels better in the hand than the Google remote. The UI is fast, and so is the wired Ethernet connection.I have purchased other ONN devices (a tablet, a generic PC keyboard) and both missed on several levels so I really thought this streaming device was going to be garbage.IT'S NOT THOUGH! This thing is everything the Google Chromecast always should have been. For some reason though Google has an obsession with chincy dongl-ey devices and the hardware itself suffers.I can tell this device is effective in cooling, it has 3GB of RAM vs the Chromecast's 2GB and it definitely shows. Plus it has Google assistant built in (smart speaker) - and Google hastn't even introduced this to their own Chromecast in over a decade. It's hilarious really. This is a fantastic device and I paid $50 for it. If you find it cheaper I would not hesitate to purchase. It's better than Roku, better than Chromecast, better than your Smart TV's UI and functionality - the ONLY streaming devices that have a leg up on this are Apple TV and Nividia Shield, that's it.My one gripe with the device is that the input mapping does not work properly with my TCL 4K TV, I'm never able to change inputs manually - so I really on CEC when I turn a device on. This didn't work well with the Chromecast remote either though.I have been around the block streaming wise and this device is the real deal.

Comparing to $20 ONN streaming box.Few improvements. I still have not had a ton of time to test, so maybe they not going to hold.1) Ethernet port is good. Wi-Fi on ONN devices is unreliable, and a cheaper ONN unit without Ethernet was constantly looking for the signal with video interruptions. With Ethernet connection, this unit's internet speed is way more stable.2) Sometimes on free ad supported apps, stream will freeze, but it doing it way less on this unit. Some free apps (especially Pluto) will start with much lower resolution as I flip channels. So this did not change.3) It does require restarts, maybe ones a week or two. On a cheaper ONN version, I had to do it every two days. Restarts are way faster. Maybe 30 seconds at most.4) Somehow, this ONN ... MoreComparing to $20 ONN streaming box.Few improvements. Maybe 30 seconds at most.4) Somehow, this ONN unit can be booted directly to if you do not like smart TV screen that comes with your TV. I have Fire TV, and it starts directly to ONN Google TV screen. With the cheaper ONN unit, I had to start Fire TV with its remote and then switch inputs to get to ONN device every time.5) Shortcuts buttons are doing the same accidental switches as on cheaper version. Only this time it is trying to switch to Google TV channel (button is huge, and it is very close to all controls) instead of Netflix or Amazon. All other advantages and disadvantages of Google TV, in my opinion, over other streaming platforms stayed the same. Remote is still the best: most responsive, the best ergonomics and very light weight. Main screen is great. Main screen ads are not invasive, but the recommendation system still tries to upsell you on new shows and movies instead of recommending them by your interests or watching pattern. Sideloading or downloading from store is still a problem. None of the full functioning browsers can be installed. Definitely no adding extensions on available browsers. You still can disable privacy intrusions options like voice recognition button, although it may hamper some searches.I would definitely recommend this unit at this time over other smart TV systems I tried (Fire TV and Roku) and definitely over $20 ONN unit. Yes, it has plenty of quirks (mostly on free apps, and maybe it is app programmer's fault), but it feels like a better, more organic experience if you know exactly what you want to watch.
