The top two case fans in my Antec DF-85 full tower were 10 years old and badly needed replacing. I decided to go with these Noctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm fans and they are proving to be an excellent choice. They've increased the air-flow, are very quiet, and much better than the Antec stock ones were originally. Although they are a bit expensive the quality is second to none and, as with all branded products, you pay for it. Hopefully these will last a good few years and if any of the other case fans need replacing I'll stick with Noctua.

I was attracted to this fan by Noctua's reputation for powerful, quiet static pressure fans and because it offered me something other than beige colouring. No disrespect to enthusiasts of all things sand-coloured, but it isn't quite my style. However the chromax is loud - sometimes too loud - and it doesn't perform well with minor obstructions. A dust filter over the chromax (at the top of the case) is sufficient to increase my CPU temp by around 5 degrees while still creating a fair noise. Air is not passing well unless completely unimpeded.Dust fans are obligatory for me and loud noise is unwelcome. With the current benefits seeming marginal, I may disable the fan, and cover the top of my case with it's noise-dampening cover instead. Noctua has not impressed me ... MoreI was attracted to this fan by Noctua's reputation for powerful, quiet static pressure fans and because it offered me something other than beige colouring. No disrespect to enthusiasts of all things sand-coloured, but it isn't quite my style. However the chromax is loud - sometimes too loud - and it doesn't perform well with minor obstructions. Noctua has not impressed me here. The 140mm chromax fan might be okay for a buyer if they can dampen noise without choking off airflow - perhaps using it as an exhaust fan. It is a better fan if noise and airflow are not concerns. This is a passable fan, but certainly not a good one.

I bought 2 of these fans to replace the stock fans on my Corsair H115i as they were loud and annoying.I put these 2 fans on there as I used to have a Noctua cooler back in the day and that was quality. These fans have made my PC much quieter and the cooler works just as well if not better than with the stock fans. These fans would work amazing as replacements for either case fans or cooler fans. all round amazing fans.

I bought these fans to replace some Purewings 2 case fans. They were quiet but didn't move a lot of air with a max 1000rpm. The Noctuas not only lowered my CPU temps by 2 degrees Celsius but were even quieter. Impressive quality, it has a heft that feels very solid and well built. I see some people complain about the price but for what you get I consider it a bargain. If anything you get too much. The Low Noise Adapter seems a little redundant since you can set your fan speeds in the Bios and the silicon anti-vibration pegs were of limited use since they can only be installed in a mounting hole not a slot and you need open access to all four corners of your fan to pull them through the holes. Not that I think it's a bad thing to get extra hardware, on the contrary ... MoreI bought these fans to replace some Purewings 2 case fans. If you're in the market for fans, buy these, you won't regret it.
Noctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm Case Fan I bought this fan to replace the 140mm fan on my EVGA 500 watt power supply. The power supply fan is 0.7 amps, and my guess is it spins around 1500rpm. The noctua fan is 0.04amps, and 800 or 650rpm. That is 17.5 times less power usage than the original power supply fan. I tested both fans for amount of air produced, by putting my hand in front of them. The noctua fan clearly produces less air, but that should be obvious considering that it spins at about half the speed. Even though the noctua fan produces less air I still installed it, and it is working good for about 16 hours now. Just to be safe I will order the noctua fan which spins at 1200rpm, and install it in this power suppy instead, this way I know that the air produced will ... MoreNoctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm Case Fan I bought this fan to replace the 140mm fan on my EVGA 500 watt power supply. Some reviews say that the rubber pins which are used instead of screws are impossible to push through. That is not true, you just need needle nose pliers and you pull it through with no problems. They are tight, but at least that means that the fan will never move or vibrate. Noctua fan is rated at 11.9db at 800rpm and 9.1db at 650rpm. That is probably one of the quietest 140 mm fans ever made. Next thing quieter is complete silence. That is the only fan I have in the computer, my cpu is passively cooled, and with my case always open I can hear the noctua fan at 800rpm. But it is extremely quiet. To compare how quiet it is to something is hard, because I don't know if there is anything that quiet. I believe that my hearing is extremely good and that is why I hear it, an average person would probably not notice that the fan is working. If I move about 3 meters away from my computer I can't hear it at all. If I close the case I can't hear it at all even when standing next to it. I had no mechanical hard drives plugged in while listening to the fan, so the fan was the only moving part in the whole computer. I then plugged in 3tb Seagate NAS hard drive spinning at 5400rpm. Just the spinning of the drive is what I can hear and is about twice as loud as the noctua fan. Western digital black 6tb spinning at 7200rpm, is about 3 times louder than the Noctua fan. The original power supply fan is about 6 times louder than the Noctua fan. I have over 20 mechanical hard drives, and there is no such thing as silent 3.5" hard drive, and there is no such thing as silent 140mm fan. If something is moving you can still hear it. Noctua packaged this fan like it is a diamond ring. One very fancy and expensive box. I connected the fan directly to 4 pin power supply plug. This looks like top quality fan.
I bought these to help quiet down a very beefy build I put together. Using a 9900k with a 280mm radiator, I replaced both the radiator fans and 3 more case fans with this model. When I first turned my PC on after swapping the fans out, I thought I broke it or unplugged something because I heard NOTHING. Then my monitor turned on and I realized that the fans were just THAT quiet. I use vmware workstation pro and run approximately 20 virtual machines, and the fans are still barely audible under that load. They do a great job of pushing enough air through the unit, and remain so quiet I have to take my headphones off to hear them under load. When you take these out of the packaging, they feel heavy in your hands. Unfortunately I think the one downside is, I'll have to buy a set of these for every new build going forward.
I have two of these as intakes in the front of my case. These things scream quality … the weight, the rotation, the lack of any play in the fan, the materials – all top notch. I can see why Noctua confidently offers a 6 year warranty. I use a case fan controller which offers 12, 7 and 5 volts. Without the LNA, and the fans at max 12v (1500rpm), they are definitely audible, even through a noise dampened Desxxgn R4 case. The sound isn’t obnoxious at all, just a distinctly audible wind rush sound. However at that 1500rpm they push a crazy amount of air! I have mine on the LNA and my case controller @ 12v – so they run at a constant 1300 rpm, and are dead silent at that setting. I find that speed to be the perfect noise \ airflow ratio, and they cool my stacked HDD’s v. nicely. They’ve dropped temps a few degrees with a more silent operation than my previous 140mm fans up front. Other fans may offer equal airflow or sound levels? Not sure ... but for me the selling point on these is that they deliver the goods with the additional piece of mind that exceptional build quality and a 6 year warranty bring. Check ‘em once and close the case. See ya in 6 years! I have no problem shelling out a few extra bucks for that and am very happy with these fans. I’m sure I’ll buy more in the future.
Bought this fan to replace the rear case fan on my NZXT H440 case. The connector is a 4 pin plug which unfortunately does not match the H440 3 pin hub within the case. The plug still works (no matter which end of the 3 pin socket you connect) however you lose fan speed variability functionality and the fan will run at full speed regardless of the temperature. This is perfectly fine as the fan itself is super quiet. I ended up plugging it straight into the mobo (MSI Gaming 3) and it worked a treat. The rubber foot pads create a vibration buffer and also look great once installed.I would absolutely recommend this fan, however it might be best to check which pin variation you need the cable to have.
Ultra Quiet indeed! Great product, great value -- overall extremely happy with the purchase. Premium packaging, can't recommend high enough! Keeps the PC cool and quiet -- win, win, win!
