I'm a casual runner and run about 15 to 20 miles a week. I run for exercise and I'm not a pro. For those that have the Fresh Foam Max V2/V3 these are much more sturdy than the Max. They are slightly heavier and a little bigger in the toe box and length. The 10.5 in the max feels smaller than these. If I was buying again, I would go down a half size for a more snug fit: this matters because a more snug fit would be nicer in the heel. For a daily runner, the tred has held up better than my Max Foam. I've only run in these. Sorry walkers, I don't have a review for those that walk. But as neutral runner, they hit the marks and you'll feel the neutral ride if you're a supinater or pronater.

Why does NB paint the soles? If you look at the majority of the models/colors of this shoes, the sides of the soles have ink on them. Why? It makes a good looking shoe look unsightly. I bought the Navy, gold label, plain white sole color scheme because it looks nice with jeans and the sole sides aren't inked, they're just plain white and they look great. I wish NB would also do this for their other colors - JUST LEAVE THE SOLES WHITE!!! It looks better and makes the shoe more wearable for all occasions, other than just exercise.Let me repeat, I LOVE the fit of these shoes, but just with that NB would stop ink staining the soles. It looks awful. Oh, and I hope NB continues to make narrow size options for all their fresh foams. We narrow-footed people would greatly ... MoreWhy does NB paint the soles? So I got these this morning and and immediately put in 8 miles with my husky because he gets excited when he sees me put on my workout clothes. I realized immediately why the heel cup is a controversial feature. But I liked it immediately. I DO think if it simply moved the two cushion pads over the calcaneal bone a little higher, it would accommodate more people. But from seeing the news about the 1080v12, I can tell I am not gonna like them as much as the current model. I used to run strictly minimal shoes and haven't run new balance since my old minimum trails shoes. At the time, everyone in my army unit was raving about minimalist shoes. But I wanted something different after years of those styles of shoes. I bought a pair of Craft CTM ultras which were cool but forced me to change my running stride due to the odd cushion stack placement...but THESE on my 8 miles run today didn't try to force me to do anything except move faster. It was a really nice experience- seriously!! I am still not used to the stack height of a lot of modern shoes but these are an instant favorite. I'm gonna buy three pairs before they release the next generation because tbh I am not interested in the next gen if it's anything like the YouTube vids I've seen on them. But man these work for me. Oh but maybe go half a size up from your normal size. The toebox isn't too wide or too narrow for me but my normal size of 9.5 definitely would have been a bit close for comfort on these. Just a little.

I bought these because of all the shoes I tried on, these felt the best. Second place was the 880.The Heel: This is so frustrating. My heel slips around (vertically) in these shoes. Based on the reviews, this is a common problem. The tongue: For some reason, the tongue punishes the top of your foot. I had to loosen the laces completely to just reduce the pain.In order to try and reduce the heel slippage, I used the heel lock method. The laces included are very short and it is almost impossible to do this. Especially when you have to loosen the laces so they do not abuse the top of your foot. There in lies the problem, you can "heel lock" your foot in there but then the top of your foot will just hurt more. If you loosen the laces your heel will just slide more ... MoreI bought these because of all the shoes I tried on, these felt the best. Second place was the 880.The Heel: This is so frustrating. If you loosen the laces your heel will just slide more and blister.I hate that I am writing this review. I love how comfortable the sole of the shoe is. In the store, I did not notice the tongue hurting. But after wearing them it is a major problem. I cannot run in them because of the issues. These have basically become my shoes for inside the house and for trips to the store. That way I can keep them as loosely tied as possible.aarrrrrghhh!Advice: The sole is perfect and the styling is the best in the business. Please please please fix the heel and the tongue. ALSO, INCLUDE LONGER LACES SO WE CAN LOCK THAT HEEL IN!
This is my third pair of 1080s and second pair of v11s. The cushioning is very comfortable for my old knees and the width fit for the 2E I need is perfect. The durability of the soles is not quite what it used to be but I tend to keep my shoes longer that I should. I am not sure what I think about the rear heal "tongue" that is new to the v11s. I never had trouble with small peoples getting in my v10s but these v11s are pebble magnets. My opinion is they pop up from the road when I step on them and land in between my heal and that tongue which acts like a funnel. I shake out my shoes now after every run and the number of pebbles is surprising. The new design isn't so bad that I can't deal with it. I just got a new pair and will probably stay with them unless they ... MoreThis is my third pair of 1080s and second pair of v11s. Personally, I really hate when they take a proven shoe and change it - just for the sake of changing it. I have run in the V9 and V10 version of this shoe, and absolutely loved them. With this newest version, some things were arbitrarily changed - I've given this set 3 weeks, averaging 15 miles a week or so:- The upper is more rigid now, and now hits my foot at a weird spot, causing bruising. It's maybe just my odd foot shape, but the uppers on earlier versions were soft and I didn't have this problem.- The heel cup is considerably bigger, and even when lacing the heel lock, I can't get away from my heel slipping and the feeling that it is going to pop out of the shoe. Again, I can chalk it up to my weird feet, but the heel feels wider on this version than it did ... MorePersonally, I really hate when they take a proven shoe and change it - just for the sake of changing it. Again, I can chalk it up to my weird feet, but the heel feels wider on this version than it did on earlier versions. Hence the "runs large" note on this review.- The laces! UGH! Some others have noted this as well, but I cannot keep these suckers tied, even double knotting them. I don't even know how you accomplish this little feat of engineering - NB has created a lace that won't stay tied, no matter what. I gave up and stripped the laces out of my last pair of v10's, problem solved. Some qualifiers here - I have a host of foot issues (high arches, not a neutral foot at all), and exceptionally narrow feet as well. These shoes were my haven, as they came narrow enough to fit, but also didn't aggravate all my other foot stuff. Sadly, that is no longer the case - 3 weeks in and I'm abandoning the v11's, they're causing more pain and issues than they're worth.
I hesitated to buy these, because I had sorted these reviews by lowest rating. That made me think they weren't a good product, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I should have listened to the lowest rated reviews. The shoe upper is paper thin in its construction. There is no way these have durability for outdoor running. Maybe they were designed for treadmill-only. That would be ok for a $70 mall shoe, but that's not how these shoes are marketed or priced.I am exasperated trying out different shoe companies, trying to find something decent like you might have found circa 2018. Literally, every company I have tried is manufacturing junk and selling it at a premium price. It makes me angry that I think I'll just keep using my various older shoes until these ... MoreI hesitated to buy these, because I had sorted these reviews by lowest rating. I'm getting back into my goal of long distance running. A lot has changed in the 5 years I've been away. I used to be a Saucony guy through and through for the years prior.Friend highly recommended this pair. I would say that these shoes don't have as much structural support and cushion like my old Saucony Omnis or Guides, but they are definitely lighter, have more spring and more toe box space. It's a different feel but not in a negative way. If you can prioritize the features you really need, you'll be able to make a good decision on the right shoe for you. That said, I think the 1080s are a great middle ground all purpose choice. Some of you will be overjoyed, and the rest of you will be satisfied at the very least
While I am not a huge fan of the yellow color, these shoes are extremely comfortable and have definitely made an impact in my run game. The shape of the sole actually has improved my form, not just running on the balls of my feet (half-strides) but from heel to toe (full strides). I ran both outdoors along Chicago's lakefront and indoors on a treadmill and both running locations seemed effective. I do want to add that my running form was better on the treadmill than on the lakefront, but after adjusting my form on the treadmill, running came easier on the lakefront. The fit was near perfect too, even for my very wide feet. The mesh-like material allowed for some give/room for my pinky toe. The insoles were also like running on soft tumbling mats, even when running ... MoreWhile I am not a huge fan of the yellow color, these shoes are extremely comfortable and have definitely made an impact in my run game. The insoles were also like running on soft tumbling mats, even when running on pavement and other harsher surfaces! It made me want to continue this new running trend of mine even more. Only reason I give this shoe 4 stars instead of 5 is the color - a little too harsh/bright for my personal taste. Highly recommend the Fresh Foam 1080v11's as a highly functional running shoe!
I run cross country and track, and this shoe fits most of my needs really well. I'm just over 70 miles in it so far, and it still sort of feels like I'm breaking it in a little. It is probably ideal for slower mileage, and is very comfortable and soft for those runs. I've also taken it on some tempo runs, and it sort of becomes a burden any faster than 6:00 pace, but it still worked okay. The upper works well and is very soft, and the midsole has lots of squish. One thing I thought would be off putting is the heel counter, which upon first wear feels like it will be very uncomfortable, but honestly just sort of disappears on your foot.I have two main gripes with this shoe. One thing I thought would be off putting is the heel counter, which upon first wear feels like it will be very uncomfortable, but honestly just sort of disappears on your foot.I have two main gripes with this shoe. The first is that the way the midfoot lockdown and sole works, it is very uncomfortable sometimes on the lateral side of my foot where that little bone and foot pad thing sticks out. This gets to the point where I have to take the shoes off and retie them, sometimes a few times per run. Hopefully this is just an extended part of the break-in process, and that seems to be happening less now. The second thing is the shoe runs large. I usually have size 10.5-11, and my 10.5 was large on my foot. Again, these two complaints are fairly minor all things considered. If I didn't mention something about the shoe, that part of it works great. The heel fit, the upper, and the midsole all stood out to me as being very good.
