I owned this pot and used it often for a few years before I lost it and had to replace it. It's a convenient size that will hold a fuel canister and the MSR stove neatly inside. Unfortunately for some reason the replacement pot I got broke down and got a hole in the bottom within a few weeks of use. My only theory is that it got too hot and that weakened it. But it's supposed to get hot of course and this never happened with the old one so I hope it was just a fluke.

used for winter multi-day trips, several of us would fire up stoves of different models at the same time. They have all switched to the Reactor as I could regularly boil significantly more water in less time then them. Order 3 sizes so i can fit to the requirement for the trip

The whole set works great. I just recently lost the lid and it is impossible to find a replacement. I don't want to repurchase the whole set since I'm missing the most inexpensive part of it.I hope they can fix this soon so I can keep using their set

Originally purchased the Reactor with the 1.7L pot. In looking to have smaller/lighter gear options, I purchased the 1.0L pot. Worked great on a 5 day trip with 2 people. Occasionally would need to boil 2 pots of water, but the Reactor is so fast it was no bother. Was careful not to overfill. The ONLY complaint is there is hardly enough room for a fuel canister and the stove. It can be done and I do it, but wish there was just a LITTLE more wiggle room.
My Reactor Stove and Pot are an invaluable part of my kit .It works in all temperatures , is not affected by wind and heats up my water FAST.I have been on trips where other peoples stoves have not been up to the task and I ended up boiling water for 15- 20 people. They would have had cold meals if it were not for my Reactor Stove. For multi day, unsupported trips, it is always in my pack.
I'm wondering why the pot prices go up by $10 for each larger size, while the system prices go up $20 for each system with the same increase in pot size. The only difference is the pot size. Very weird and feels unfair if you want the system with the larger pot size. If the consumer desires two pot sizes - easy, buy the system with the smaller pot size and then buy the larger pot separately from REI (hopefully with a 20% off sale). Hoping for an answer from MSR to help others.Score reflects common usage and market standing not my personal use because "N/A" is not an option. I don't believe in taking price into account in review scores.
The new 1.0L MSR Reactor Pot has revolutionized the fast and light climbing/backpacking game. Although best for solo missions, I exclusively take this pot to use for two, as the low-profile, low-weight, & incredibly functional design all are worth an additional boil (as compared to the two larger sizes-1.7L & 3.0L, which I also own). Icing on the cake is the 1.0L's fit with a smaller sized fuel canisters than the larger 2 pot sizes use, which cuts down on weight and bulk even further. The reactor stove system (in short--the best option money can buy) and the fuel can both fit into this Pot snugly with the lid sealed closed, meaning you have your complete stove/cooking system all inside this miniature beast. Solo users benefit from the ability to eat straight out of the pot, thanks to a nifty integrated strainer lid and a handle that locks and fold with ease (say goodbye to burns from grabbing the hot pot)! In short, this is likely my favorite piece of gear I own...And I own a lot!
My Reactor came with the 1-liter pot. I bought a 2.5 for group trips and found that it seemed more efficient but it requires a lot of pack space. I read that the 1.7 is slightly more efficient than the 1-liter and seemed a good compromise. I sold the small one and bought this. To me, it’s the ideal size.
This stove is FAST, which is great when you're super hungry, the wind is blowing and you'd like to eat a meal sometime today. It's super convenient and lightweight enough. It boils water hilariously fast. If I had my way, MSR would make a nesting alpine bowl type thingy for it so I could use it as a steamer/double boiler. Get to work on that, MSR! :) Guess I might need to get a 2.5 liter pot to be able to do that. The 1.7 liter that we have is an ideal size for two people, and the stove and a large canister nest nicely inside.
Great stove for boiling water. Only thing it seems it could be designed so that the burner and fuel can fit in the pot a little better. If everything is not just right the lid will not close or be latched. However it is my new favorite stove for backpacking
