So far working great! Performance-wise the B550i motherboards are all quite similar, so for this purchase, I was looking at the extra features and price. In this regards, the MSI was the cheapest with a USB-C front header; additionally, it also had the optical link audio out and full 5 channel output which I thought was a good little bonus if I upgraded my speakers later on. Together with the promotions through black Friday, its an unbeatable deal really. So far its been working great, recognising the XMP profile with ease, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had fixed the access to the clear CMOS pins after feedback from the community.Only downsides I see are the bit excessive branding, with the prominent dragon on the VRM thermal cover, and non stock ... I would have expected MSI to be a bit more subtle with what would have otherwise been such clean looking board. For these, it loses a star, but otherwise, fantastic board!

I chose this motherboard because it has some of the very best VRM temperatures on the B550 platform. When overclocking the processor, this baby runs between 5 and 10 degrees cooler than some competing products!I would love a few more USB 3 ports on the I/O panel, an perhaps an extra USB3 header for the front panel. But these are minor concerns.Given the rest of the features and these frankly insane temperatures, I can't think of a better B550 motherboard at this price point. If you're getting a new Ryzen and are worried about flashing this mobo BIOS, rest assured you do not need another processor. There's an easy BIOS flash switch on the I/O panel; just put the new bios on a usb stick, plug it in, and push the button.

This is my first board since the 300 series AMD motherboards and I have to say I am impressed! Not only does the board feel high quality but the functionality is also amazing! The huge VRM heat sink helps keeps temps cool and the reinforced PCIE slot is another great bonus. The board is not without issues though, there are only really two issues that irk me with this motherboard the first being the RAM compatibility; coming from a 300 series mobo where I could put most RAM sticks in it was quite a shock to find this mobo is only compatible with certain modules (which are quite hard to find btw). My second gripe would be the clear CMOS button is located behind the IO shield which makes it hard to clear CMOS when you have completed the build especially in a SFF ... Great motherboard after getting it setup. There are two problem which is likely to affect all MSI AMD motherboard and not just this one. First is it doesn't seem to have good support for ultrawide screen prior to Window loading. After installing window, the only way to get to BIOS is to short the battery pin. The BIOS screen also is very stretchy on a wide screen, and you will not be able to get to the BIOS flashing screen as it need to restart and it seem unable to send signal to the monitor. Plugging in an old spare monitor work fine but is a bit of a hassle. My old intel rig which use the same graphic card have no problem. Which bring to a second problem, the default BIOS have very high voltage by on my ryzen 3900x when idle, which make it run really hot. ... MoreGreat motherboard after getting it setup. Flashing the BIOS to newer firmware solve the problem, but it was a real challenge due to the screen issue. BEAWARE if you only have an ultrawide monitor. My monitor is Lenovo Legion Y44W for reference.
I opted for B550 over X570 because I prefer the fanless design, and didn't need the extra features. The VRM on this board is exceptional, class leading, with a beefy heatsink so can handle even a 5950X without breaking a sweat. There's also plenty of fan headers, 1 CPU and 1 Pump, with 6 additional system fans, 8 total. A useful flash bios button on the rear I/O so you can upgrade the bios to be compatible with Zen 3 without a cpu installed, and of course solid wifi for those who need it. Design is subjective, but I like the more understated and grown up approach MSI have taken here. That said, I would have liked 2 more USB ports, even if they were just USB 2.0. This a quality board that offers a lot of features and looks great and I am absolutely thrilled with the purchase. It is also much more competitively priced than the other B550 ITX boards (some of which actually have less features)Pros:- Great range of features: front usb-c header, wifi 6, two M.2 slots (1 has active cooling which is controllable and quiet, 1 on the rear), solid VRM and heatsink-Additional features like bios flashback (enables you to update BIOS for compatibility with ryzen 5000 series CPUs without needing an older CPU) and diagnostic lights (so you can troubleshoot whether it's your RAM/CPU/GPU or something else when your pc doesn't boot) that gives you real peace of mind, especially if you are first time builder like me!-Sleek,understated, ... And for me, no RGB is a plus!Cons (these are more nitpicks than cons)- The hd audio and front panel connector headers are not in the most ideal position, being at the bottom left of the board which means routing these cables over the top of the VRM and next to the CPU cooler. However, to be clear this does not affect performance in any way and just required a bit more fiddling when connecting. This is the price you pay when going small form factor.-Be aware there are 2 fan headers, so you will need a splitter if you want to run more than that (personally I only run 2 fans so it was fine)Final Note:-CMOS jumper: I've seen a lot of older reviews complain about the location of the CMOS jumper, being behind the I/O shield and not being readily accessible. This is no longer an issue. Apparently when this board first came out, it was not possible to reset the CMOS easily because the jumper was hidden behind the I/O, but it's clear that MSI have listened as on my board (purchased late Nov 2020) this has been rectified with a small cut out on the I/O. Also apparently a BIOS update allows you to hold the power button for 5-10 sec to reset the CMOS.
What a great motherboard! It has a lot of IOs, it worked out of the box and and came with enough accessories. Everything I connected there worked, my processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600, the cooler, fans, the graphic card RX 5700 XT and 16GB of DDR4 3200 RAM.I decided for this motherboard because I want to go more future-proof, and Wi-fi was a must have. I want to go with the Carbon, but the price difference was too much for me, and the Gaming Edge Wi-fi has everything I need.VRM wise it has more than enough strength to crank my 3600 to the skies.Memory compatibility was great and even OCing was possible. So, in other words, there are so much value aggregated to this motherboard, that is unbelievable.

But with the increasing number of wireless devices, and the existing bluetooth on the board, this is not a deal breaker for me personally. So, to conclude this - considering all currect active promotions for it this month, MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WIFI is an irresistable value proposition and I am more than happy to pair it with a fresh and slightly overpriced at the moment Ryzen 5600x!Thank you for reading. Stay safe!
This motherboard is very good for the price. I was looking around for a motherboard for my Ryzen 5 5600x and stumbled across this one when I was watching Hardware unboxeds B550 VRM round up. Safe to say I was astounded with the VRM performance. It was easily beating other higher-priced B550 boards in price, performance and features. If VRM performance is your focus when buying a board like mine is, seriously, seriously, do consider this board. I was sure that this was the one for me, and honestly, I'm super happy that I ended up going with it! Really smooth and easy experience setting everything up with it. Very strong motherboard in terms of features compared to other ones. Super happy!
For the price of this motherboard you get a lot of premium features, including pcie m.2 gen 4, integrated wifi 6 capability and support for ryzen 5000 CPUs (With BIOS update). The motherboard looks fantastic with the white and black design being compatible with most build designs, and the addressable RGB section on the board allowing you to match the colour. The RGB software (Mystic light) is easy to use and allows you to control other compatible MSI products and some non-MSI products too.Flashing the BIOS to support the ryzen 5000 CPUs had me slightly concerned but thanks to the flash button on the I/O it was very easy.
