I was also impressed with the sound quality compared to my previous laptop.I'm quite enjoying ditching the keyboard from time to time and just using it as a tablet. Sometimes it needs to be 'reminded' to go into laptop mode if I have attached the keyboard after shutdown but it's not a big deal. It's a pity it does not have a USB-A connection but I bought a USB-A -> USB-C adapter and it does the job although I have to ensure it is well plugged in to work properly.I love the colour and bought the matching forest keyboard and they look very smart together.

Build quality is less than my SQ2 device - extremely noticeable gap between the kickstand and the housing. The housing has a nice bright color to it but out of the box it looked dirty and I thought it came from the fact that there was no protective film around it. Turns out that the aluminum is very blotchy and grainy- does not look refine as my SQ2. There also continues to be plastic discoloration around the device. Overall, a better experience than my first Surface Pro 9 5G but still not what I thought I was getting for the latest and greatest product from Microsoft.

Unfortunately, Microsoft continues the practice of selling the keyboard separately, which can be frustrating for those who expect a complete package. While it is an additional expense, the detachable keyboard does provide a superb typing experience and transforms the tablet into a capable laptop replacement. Its versatility, portability, and refined aesthetics make it an excellent choice for professionals, students, and creative individuals alike.
I had a hard time picking out a new laptop--I've been using a Surface Book 2 for the past 5 years, and I have a bit of a unique use-case, I used it for video & photo editing, I use it for sheet music, and I really need pen support as I'm currently in seminary and am taking languages that require a lot of writing out by hand. I needed something that I could take with me, was light and portable, but also had a decent amount of power behind it.I've been pleasantly surprised with the Surface Pro 9 so far. I've been able to adjust my workflow so that I only have to do light video editing on this device, and it handles it like a champ, additionally, its been able to eat my graphic design software alive, and the pen support is even better with the Surface Slim Pen (that ... I've been able to adjust my workflow so that I only have to do light video editing on this device, and it handles it like a champ, additionally, its been able to eat my graphic design software alive, and the pen support is even better with the Surface Slim Pen (that haptic feedback has changed my life). Additionally, the Surface Pro 9 is far more portable that my Surface Book ever was, and I'm really enjoying the tablet form-factor, especially when I use this for writing or for sheet music. The only real fault with the device is that the typing experience is not the best, but such is the cost of the convenience of the device's portability and thin profile. Finally, the repairability of the Surface Pro 9 is excellent. There's now official support from Microsoft to purchase a new screen or battery, which means I can count on relying on this machine for a long time, and don't have to worry about the battery fading in the future. Additionally, the ability to swap out the SSD was convenient and straightforward, and saved me several hundred dollars so I could get the configuration I wanted with 1TB of storage.I miss some aspects of my Surface Book 2 (the keyboard being the main thing), but this has served a worthy successor and I'd heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a solid 2-in-1 laptop.
This quite honestly has to be the best feeling and best looking windows based tablet on the market and assuming your just using it for general usage/very light gaming this is probably the best windows experience you can get in such a small form factor.Starting with the display, it's absolutely beautiful IPS touch screen with an almost 4k display. Really can't overstate how good this screen looks in comparison to my 2 other laptops that use a TN panel and VA panel respectively. The display is also 120hz capable to my surprise which makes motion and inputs feel very fluid.Moving on to the rest of the system specs, the system I have comes a 12 gen Intel i5 processor with iris xe graphics, 8GB ddr5 ram, 256GB SSD, wifi 6e nic, and 2 thunderbolt 4 ports along with ... It hasn't impacted my usage yet and likely won't matter if you're not a power user however it can definitely cause some issues if you're a content creator or trying to game with it and in 2022 16GB should be considered the minimum standard to shoot for.Speaking of gaming, the Intel iris xe graphics here simply aren't up to snuff unfortunately. For the vast majority of games you're going to be limited to 1080p low settings for older games at 30fps with newer games requiring 720p to get anywhere near playable framerates.I would've much rather had an amd based APU since they offer much better performance especially for gaming for a miniscule loss in efficiency overall tho I understand why they went with Intel since it has better integration with how Windows 11 works. The Intel xe igpu might be good enough however for emulators if you wanna play older games from the GameCube or even 3ds era. The thunderbolt 4 capability does open the door for possible eGPU usage however I do not have the means at this time to actually test if it would work well.Moving onto the peripherals the optional keyboard attachment is something I would deem essential and Microsoft really should include it with the tablet rather than making you pay extra for it, especially if it's marketed as a 2 in 1 laptop and not as just a tablet.Overall though I think if you're in the market for a new laptop and you're not concerned with gaming performance, this is a top tier buy.
I've had a Surface Pro 4 for about 5 years and have enjoyed it very much. In fact, I haven't used my laptop in years because the Surface Pro has met my needs and is smaller and more convenient to use. When that one finally died I decided to get another. The Surface Pro 8 was a better price and would probably have been just as good for my needs but I decided to spend the extra money and get the latest model so I got the 9. It was easy to set up but I wasn't able to transfer everything from my 4 to the 9 because my 4 won't boot up so I can't speak to that. I've had the 9 for a little over a month so I haven't explored everything it can do yet. It boots up fast and stays connected to my Internet. I've had the 9 for a little over a month so I haven't explored everything it can do yet. It boots up fast and stays connected to my Internet. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth like the 4 did and I really like that feature as I can see and respond to my texts using a keyboard and it's easy to transfer photos. Regarding the price of the 9 though, I got it on sale for $300 off and I still feel it was overpriced, especially since it was for the device only, no keyboard or pen which are both ridiculously expensive for the Microsoft version. I got a knock-off keyboard which was fine at first but now the cursor jumps around frequently and I'm not that happy with it anymore. I would definitely suggest the Surface Pro keyboard if you can afford it. So I knocked a star off my rating because for the price they charge for the Surface Pro 9, I think they could manage to provide a keyboard, or a pen at the very least. The battery doesn't seem to last as long as it should. Things are in somewhat different places than the 4 so it took some getting used to and I'm still learning. I was told the battery and SSD can be replaced in this model so I really like that fact. Nothing was replaceable in my 4. You can get cases for the Surface Pro but if you have a keyboard, that protects the screen when you close it so you don't always need a case unless it's going to get knocked around. I didn't use a screen protector on my 4 and I don't have one on my 9 but then I rarely take it anywhere and I don't use a pen often. I do love the touch screen which is very responsive. There is no regular USB input, only 2 USB C's, so you need to buy a USB C adapter to have regular USB ports which is just extra equipment hanging off it. It has replaced my laptop for my needs and I am enjoying it. Just wish it wasn't so darn expensive.
Before I purchased this I was using a Surface Pro 7 which I still have that I've passed down to my son. I was skeptical if I should spring for the Surface Pro 9 but I'm so glad I did it. I had issues with my financial spreadsheets and paying bills as I manage bills through my email. With two spreadsheets and my email open it could barely keep up and then opening a new tab for the bill I needed to pay was so slow. Now I can open all the tabs for each bill I need to pay with my spreadsheets and email open. Windows 11 is also great and I have all my tech connected and it's seamless. I know people can argue apple does that too. I don't like the box you are stuck with and have to use apple products to play nice. I have a google phone that connects to the Pro 9 so easily. I can answer phone calls and respond to texts when I'm on it. If I'm watching a video I can cast it to any of my TVs in my house or at another home or office. It's light and the same footprint of my Pro 7 but the rounded edges make it so much nicer to handle in tablet mode. It goes everywhere with me and as long as Microsoft keeps up with trends I will continue to upgrade since tech moves so fast. The face recognition to unlock is so much better than the fingerprint as it can be finicky and need to redo the fingerprint occasionally. There is more I'm missing I bet, but if you are considering one get it! I have an overbuilt desktop PC and I haven't turned it on since I've had my Surface Pros.

There are more than an adequate number of ports. The Surface "plug" can also connect to a Surface dock for even more ports. The Surface Pro's best use cases are for people who need highly portable devices to get work done. College students who go from class to class; business executives who need to get work done on trips; doctors who need to take notes as they go from room to room are all ideal candidates for a Surface Pro.
I purchased the Surface Pro 9 5G to replace my iPad Pro as my daily laptop/tablet. So far, the experience has been stellar. My iPad Pro 11" M1 has been listed for sale, and I am returning my iPad Pro 12.9" M2 + Magic Keyboard, which costs a ludicrous $1,800 out the door (5G enabled modeled).I'd also like to mention that when it comes to the reviews I read on this device, both with out-of-touch tech YouTubers and here on Best Buy, I think individuals need to do their research before making a purchase. I see complaints that specific applications do not work with the device, which is true because when you buy the SQ3 version, it runs an ARM processor, which has much less compatibility than devices running Intel/AMD processors with an x64/x86 architecture. I see complaints that specific applications do not work with the device, which is true because when you buy the SQ3 version, it runs an ARM processor, which has much less compatibility than devices running Intel/AMD processors with an x64/x86 architecture. So if you have some applications that are must-haves for you, check to see if the apps are compatible with ARM before buying and then complaining, saying it doesn't work. I'd also consider doing some research to improve your tablet experience on the Surface Pro. For example, 3 must-have apps for me (found in the Microsoft Store) are Legere, Awesome Tube (aka A-Tube), and Gesture Sign. The first two apps are lightweight alternatives with tablet interfaces in mind for Reddit and YouTube rather than using the website. Gesure Sign allows you to create and add gestures to help you navigate the OS. With that being said, we can move on to the review. What I love about the Surface Pro 9 5G:1. Gorgeous display. 120hz is a plus, especially since all my devices (except my TVs) run at 120/165hz. The display is smooth enough with 60hz for me not to notice the difference, which is saying something. Apple is the only manufacturer I've seen pull off these smooth 60hz screens.2. 5G connectivity. Having a laptop that doubles as a tablet and staying connected to the internet at all times is fantastic. Thankfully I already had an active tablet line with my carrier, so popping the SIM card out of my iPad and into my Surface worked without any issues.3. Battery life is FANTASTIC. Depending on what you're doing, you can easily pull off 12 hours of mixed usage with this thing.4. Cool to the touch and silent. The fanless design of the SQ3 Surface Pro 9 is fanless, which keeps the device silent at all times, and it runs very coolly to the touch.5. Webcam is much improved from what I remember when I last used a Surface Pro (the Surface Pro 7). The webcam is so crisp, and the SQ3 brings many features that I most likely won't use but are lovely to have and practical.6. The ability to switch out the SSD is a great addition. I am not sure if you could do this on other Surface Pro models, but I love that I can do it on this one!7. SQ3 is snappy. The OS is fast in boot speeds, navigation, and waking the device from sleep.--What I don't love:1. I think the experience of using the device with the keyboard attached to the lap could be better. It's not bad, but it could be better.2. Not the product's fault, but it would be nice to see Microsoft work harder to improve the tablet experience. Windows 11 still isn't the best operating system for using full touchscreen and gestures without a keyboard/mouse/trackpad.3. I wish the base model came with 16GB of RAM. Thankfully, much of my workflow consists of Word documents and programs that are accessed via the browser, but if you do any tasks that require you to have a billion apps open, you should step up to the 16GB version. That's about it for my negatives. Can't complain; I can only nitpick, which is awesome! The Surface Pro 9 5G is a winner!
