Nothing is perfect because we all have our likes and not all of us like the same. Overall the shoe is performing great with 20 miles and one event was 11 miles. Hard terrain, lots of roots, rock, sand, and dry dry dirt. 108 f degrees real feel was 113 f. 5000 elevation (climbing). Lots of long downhill and lots of long uphill. Plenty of fast straight aways. No water in sight on course other than sweaty legs so shoes did get soaked by body sweat and stayed wet however did not bother me and did not effect shoe performance. Great conditions for testing the shoe.I am happy with the shoe. I don’t like the laces but I never do because I like laces the are stretchy and don’t put pressure on the upper foot which is why I wish they would make all running shoes with BOA dials since these dials remove all pressure points and are super easy to release if foot swells too much or you need a little extra firmness for locking in the foot. Add BOA dials and this is the shoe. It’s fast up, down and straight. Almost no impact. Weight is light enough. After reading lots of online reviews and comparisons, I decided to get the Endorphin Edge shoes for an upcoming 8hr trail run. I've been using Saucony for years as my road running shoe and am now venturing into trail running, the feel and fit is true as with their road shoes but the Edge has a wide and spacious toe box which gives the toes room to move. The upper is light and breathable but still sheds away water and mud, with reinforcements were needed to avoid rocks from tearing it up. The sole is great on hard surfaces, soil and loose dirt, but can be slippery in smooth wet surfaces. But the cushioning and plate come alive when stepping over rocks, the cushioning lessens the impact and then the plate pops and pushes off. I'm really pleased with the purchase, I've only put about 20 miles of trail running and hiking and hope the response keeps getting better as they are worn in.

Cool looking shoes, painful cramps

These shoes are sleek, but I really struggled to adjust to the thick heel. I'm used to Altra lone peak 6's with very little heel and a wide toe box. The bounce from the foam was fun and i didnt feel any knee pain as i sometimes do when i forget to keep my steps light. I think the drastic difference in heel height was the casue of the severe pain and cramping I got around the first mile of my runs. The laces were also tricky to lace up to allow for support but not cut off circulation to my ankles. I have quite wide flat feet and didn't feel as though these shoes were wide enough or provided enough support on the sides to prevent the tissue on the sides of my feet from falling over the edge of the inner sole. I liked the bright pink color, but it's not worth the pain ... MoreThese shoes are sleek, but I really struggled to adjust to the thick heel. Great for less technical mixed terrain
5 April 2023

I bought these for a mixed trail/road race (8 miles trail, 5 miles road) because I figured the higher stack would be better on the road portion, even though it might compromise the trail portion a little. Most of the trail was hard pack that had just been rained on and it turned to mud. on the trail portion of the race, there was 1200ft of climbing over about 6 miles with 17 water crossings so these shoes got soaked through and drained water repeatedly. I was slightly worried about the review that said the shoes got horribly heavy after getting wet. I’m pleased to report that this was not the case. The reviewer must not be used to running in wet shoes. I found these shoes drained water reasonably well and my feet dried out between the water crossings. The reviewer must not be used to running in wet shoes. I found these shoes drained water reasonably well and my feet dried out between the water crossings. The shoes never became super heavy. Another plus was that the rubber on the soles did not accumulate much mud and shed the mud super fast with each stream dunking. I looked at other people’s shoes and some people were legitimately wearing mud boots halfway through. The downhill trail portion was well cushioned due to the higher stack. I didn’t bomb the hill, but I found I could keep up a fairly brisk pace without losing traction. These shoes also functioned well on the road portion with enough cushion for the last miles of the race. Over all I was very happy with the product’s performance.

Great shoe, great fit, no bounce
26 February 2023

This is very nice shoe, but I've found it doesn't quite have the magic of the endorphin speed. I'm finding no benefit of the plate as one might expect. Compared to my endorphin speed where the liveliness of the plate gives back some bounce that you lose from the robustness cushioning, with the Edge my toes sink in just a bit on every step and give me that running in the mud feeling I get from overly cushioned shoes. As with other Saucony shoes, the fit is great, and I've found the vertical roominess of the toebox to be a pleasant change, and the lacing system is cool. However, the hefty price tag isn't justified for a shoe that needs to be reworked. Hopefully the next version will take more cues from it's endorphin speed and endorphin pro cousins. I Want To Love These —But I’m Unsure

I’m an experienced trail runner and ultra runner. I’ve run about 80 miles in these particular shoes so far (short and long run) and I’m still unsure of what I think of them. I really want to love these but they feel stiff and not very stable. Perhaps they need more time to be broken in?I bought these because I’ve really enjoyed running in the Saucony Endorphin Series road running shoes, Endorphin 3s and Pro 3s, and I thought these would be a great trail equivalent.Despite having the correct size, I can’t seem to lock my heel in place no matter how I tie the laces. I’ve never been prone to blisters yet I developed one while wearing these. I also get a pain in my right ankle only while I’m running fast intervals in these—something that’s never happened. So firstly I just wanted to compliment Start Fitness and how quickly I received my trainers, bang on as ever!I have given the trainers 4 out of 5 stars as my first outing in them was very uncomfortable. I ran 15 miles across the South Downs and the grip was terrible, I looked liked Bambi on ice at times and the weather was dry. I'm hoping that the grip gets a little better once I scrub them in a bit more because during that first run I had little confidence. The right trainer also caused some blistering on the outside of my right heel so again I hope this is not going to be an ongoing issue? Due to the stack height I had a couple of moments where I nearly rolled my ankles, thankfully I made it home without any injury. Ok for shorter runs on even footing.

I am a big fan of the Endorphin line and have worn nothing but the speeds, pro's, and pro+ for the past two years. I love how light they are and I have run injury-free (>55 miles per week) for that time. I have been looking for a good trail shoe, and the reviews on the Edge were encouraging. Unfortunately, I just do not love this shoe for the type of trail running I do. I run a lot of swampy/wet/uneven muddy terrain. These shoes are fine on pavement and packed sand, but once they absorb any amount of water they become extremely heavy. Once wet, the sole feels much stiffer which becomes uncomfortable when running over uneven terrain since there is little to no give underfoot. I started to notice a pain under my foot and behind my knee after 6 or so miles of those conditions. I have worn on a few trail runs to see if they would soften, but I still feel the same after about 70 miles in these shoes. I will keep these for my shorter trail runs (<10 miles) on even, or packed-sand or rocky terrain (or hiking). For anything longer than 10 miles through ultra, I feel as if they are too heavy and not nimble enough for softer trail-terrain.

The shoe's FORMFIT technology adapts to the contours of your feet, providing a secure and snug fit that doesn't compromise on comfort. The padded tongue and collar further enhance the coziness, and the gusseted construction prevents debris from entering the shoe.Traction and Grip:The Saucony Edge Trail's outsole is nothing short of impressive. It's equipped with multidirectional lugs made from PWRTRAC rubber, which offers exceptional grip on various surfaces, including muddy trails, slippery rocks, and steep inclines. The aggressive lug pattern digs into the ground, ensuring stable footing and confidence in every stride.Support and Stability:The shoe's PWRRUN+ midsole delivers a perfect balance of cushioning and responsiveness, making it suitable for both long and short runs. The TPU guidance frame provides additional support and stability, allowing for a more efficient and controlled stride. This feature truly shines on uneven terrain, where the shoe's stability helps maintain proper foot positioning and reduces the risk of injury.Breathability and Quick-Drying:The Saucony Edge Trail features a durable and lightweight engineered mesh upper that allows for excellent ventilation. Worth it!

Love my new trail shoes! I haven't had my Endorphin Edge very long but already tested out steep uphills & steeper downhills, with leaf litter, with rocks & roots and these shoes are all that I wanted them to be. I've only done dry/slightly damp trails so far, not wet, but the lugs and outsole are very similar to my old peregrines. (Peregrines had excellent grip but I found they weren't comfortable for longer runs.) Happy to see that the Edge has a good classic saucony width like the old models. I didn't have to wait for wide width to become available. There's enough room for toes to splay. Also like the toe box height. No black toes on the downhills. Yay! And no weird stress points or rubbing or blistering yet. What else? Oh, excellent lockdown. Thankfully, the ... MoreLove my new trail shoes! And no weird stress points or rubbing or blistering yet. What else? Oh, excellent lockdown. Thankfully, the outsole is not as squishy as the endorphin speed 2 (which I have for road running). Out on uneven trails, I prefer a more rigid feel of the ground which gives me more control. The outsole is not super squishy but it's also not hard. It's a comfortable medium with excellent energy return. I really enjoyed my runs. You gotta try it out for yourself. Everyone has different feet and needs, but I've always loved the classic saucony fit. These did not disappoint. One last thing, I got mucho love on the ocean/loam colorway from other folks on the trail :)
