Mascara Lash Sensational Maybelline Sky High Waterproof

This mascara tested beautifully for it’s claim of ‘sky high’ lashes. Product lengthens like a dream. Formula is a nice consistency…not dry but not overly wet. I typically have very sensitive eyes, but this did not cause any irritation at all. I’m not a fan of excessive coats, so 1-2 coats was very comfortable all day; felt like I was wearing nothing on my lashes. I was sent shade ‘True Brown’, which gave a lovely natural tone. The only complaint I have is the wand itself. The brush portion is very flexible to the point where I felt that it was awkward to use. It also does not do anything towards volumizing the lashes. My lashes are fairly long on their own; I usually enjoy something that gives more density to the overall lash line, and this just wasn’t giving that ... MoreThis mascara tested beautifully for it’s claim of ‘sky high’ lashes. Bought this waterproof mascara due to the high reviews. Tried it three times and then threw it in the garbage. There is so much product on the brush that even when I removed most of it on the edge of the tube it still gooped onto my lashes and made them look like tarantula legs. I had to take an eyelash comb and remove as many of the clumps as I could and even then it made my eyelashes look like Tammy Faye Baker's. If you're looking for totally unnatural, clumpy eye lashes then this is an awesome mascara, but it is one of the worst mascaras I have ever used and I have used a lot! I did give it one star because it IS actually water proof. This mascara does make your eyelashes look full and thick, but I feel like that comes with a cost. I did give it one star because it IS actually water proof. This mascara does make your eyelashes look full and thick, but I feel like that comes with a cost. It flakes off pretty badly, gets in my eyes and leaves them feeling irritated. After only a few weeks, it's pretty darn clumpy coming out of the tube. You can see there are tons of little bristles on the brush, but the brush comes out gobbed full of mascara, which goes on kind of clumpy. I guess I feel like I want my mascara to last a little longer and to not go clumpy/dry so quickly. If you're into the clumpy spider lashes look, this product might be your cup of tea, but sadly it's not mine. I love this mascara, it both lengthens and volumizes perfectly. It separates my lashes and there's no clumps. I've purchased this three times now. Couple things I noticed is that you have to use it a few times first when you get it in order to fully coat the brush and get the effect you're after. The other thing is that the opening of the tube gets a lot of mascara build up after a while, which can get messy. I remove the gunk with an orange stick, no problems. There's a reason this product is so highly rated: It rocks. I have beedy little pervert eyes, so I *need* mascara to open them up. Thanks to this product, I can finally swim without scaring my kids by looking like Tammy Fay Baker (Google her if you're too young to know her). Dove into the water multiple times and not a speck of mascara came off. It's magical. Will admit my lashes are not as thick as when I use L'Oreal's non-waterproof mascara. However, I'm so delighted to swim and keep my mascara on my lashes. Bravo!

Best Mascara in my Recent Trials

Now to preface this review, I'm not a die-hard fangirl of any particular mascara over the years; they all have their pros and cons, from drugstore to prestige. I will say I had most recently used Maybelline Lash Sensational and actually repurchased it. Alas, I was again on the mascara hunt and had seen good reviews about the newest formulation: Sky High. I went ahead and purchased the Cosmic Black, even though my research did not quite lead me to an answer about the differences in the black shade range. Upon first use, I can tell it doesn't have the volumizing properties of some mascaras, but that's alright by me and my "too much" gene that leads to clumpy disasters. It layers quite nicely and adds subtle, but acceptable length. Upon removal in the shower, it tends ... MoreNow to preface this review, I'm not a die-hard fangirl of any particular mascara over the years; they all have their pros and cons, from drugstore to prestige. I can't guarantee I'll repurchase based on my prior habits, but it's definitely a contender and that speaks volumes with me.

Does make your lashes long

I'm not really sure what I think about this mascara. I had a sample of it about 6 months ago and I loved it so much. The full size is not as great for some reason maybe because it isn't as dry or there is way less product? Pros: It does indeed make your lashes sky high. And they seem to stay that way for the majority of the day. There is no fallout from this mascara on me and I take naps in it sometimes. I love the long flexible wand. Cons: The consistency makes my lashes stick together like spider legs. Now I know this can depend on how warm your area is where you keep your mascara, but for some reason this stuff makes my lashes so clumpy with one or two swipes. I have to go back in with a lash comb and even then it's kind of a mess. I actually feel like this ... MoreI'm not really sure what I think about this mascara. I see some people mentioning using makeup wipes and how they do not remove this. I personally use an oil remover and then go back in with a cleanser. Even then you might need a soft cloth to remove the excess product. So yeah it does have staying power and can a little more effort to remove, but nothing terrible. Having said all of this, I probably will not repurchase when there are other mascaras in this price point that are better for me.

God awful.

I don’t know what went wrong with me, maybe a bad tube maybe it’s because I layered with other mascara product, I tried twice and it’s god awful. It clumps and my god it doesn’t build AT ALL. It starts removing a layer from before and my lashes are without mascara long and they’re naturally curved I don’t have to curl my lashes. This almost bends them inward and removed my natural curl. I hated how clumpy and ugly and short my lashes became from this mascara, 0 stars. This is the worst mascara I have ever used and I’ve used a lot of mascaras. I’ve actually been trying a new one every time I buy one recently because I’ve used the same cover girl lash blast since I was 14. I’m trying to find one like it that doesn’t take such a long time to build like the cover girl. ... MoreI don’t know what went wrong with me, maybe a bad tube maybe it’s because I layered with other mascara product, I tried twice and it’s god awful. I’m trying to find one like it that doesn’t take such a long time to build like the cover girl. But that ones my holy grail. The reviews were wrong for me. This is how you know everyone is different but I thought that sort of thing didn’t apply with mascara. I thought it’s the same formula no matter who uses it. Apparently not. I personally 10 out of 10 will never recommend. I provided pictures. I’ve been wearing for several hours, my eyeliner is smudged but it looks the same as I put it on. Short. Clumpy. And took away my natural curl and went south for some reason.

Incredible formula that dries out quickly...

The only non waterproof mascara that I have tried that really holds a curl! I have naturally long lashes that are on the straight side so skipping the lash curler is a big fat no. Waterproof formulas hold shape better than regular formulas but I don’t like doing that to my lashes all the time (they also always transfer to my brow bone bc oily skin) so this has been a miracle! A new fresh tube is absolutely incredible but it dries out surprisingly fast and the formula starts to get disappointing from there. Pros: - Strangely good formula right off the bat from a fresh tube. Doesn’t need to dry out a little like many mascaras do before performing well. - Very defined, feathery, lashes - Holds a curl like waterproof - No flakes or crumbling with my oily skin - Easy to ... MoreThe only non waterproof mascara that I have tried that really holds a curl! I love the formula for the first few weeks and then it tends to get clumpy, sticky, cakey and turns into spider lash city. In my experience the fresher the formula the better it performs but I go reaching for a new tube much sooner than other mascaras. Finally a waterproof alternative but I wish it lasted longer because it really is fantastic and I love the look!

MY HOLY GRAILLLLL

i use this mascara literally everyday and i love it so much. ive tried about 30-40 different mascaras and not one other mascara can compare to this one. i always always always come back to it i love it sooo much. it gives a lot of length TONSS of volume and it does nottt clump up one bit!!!! i cant express how much i love this mascara it is perfectttt. and it doesn't make me look like i haven't slept in days, it has no fallout under the eyes whatsoever it is literally perfection. like if you look in the dictionary a picture of the sky high mascara is the definition for perfection. also it is at an affordable price point unlike brands like benifit, anastasia beverly hills, tarte, too faced and so on. i truly truly can not preach this enough. i pray to it everynight, ... Morei use this mascara literally everyday and i love it so much. ive tried about 30-40 different mascaras and not one other mascara can compare to this one. i always always always come back to it i love it sooo much. it gives a lot of length TONSS of volume and it does nottt clump up one bit!!!! i cant express how much i love this mascara it is perfectttt. and it doesn't make me look like i haven't slept in days, it has no fallout under the eyes whatsoever it is literally perfection. like if you look in the dictionary a picture of the sky high mascara is the definition for perfection. also it is at an affordable price point unlike brands like benifit, anastasia beverly hills, tarte, too faced and so on. i truly truly can not preach this enough. i pray to it everynight, morning, mid-day, afternoon, sunrise, mid-day afternoon snack, mid-night, and everything in between. i canttt with this mascara!!! i will keep using it untill the day i die and i will be put to rest with several by my side. might as well just make a coffin out of all my tubes. anyways anther reason i love this product sooo much is because it last literaly for everrr ive been using it for nearly 3 years every single day and ive only went through two tubes, currently on my third going on my fourth soon. ALSOO VERY IMPORTANT this does not make your lashes fallout at allll when on the other hand ive tried a few that have absolutely obliterated my eyelashes. so yeah im done with my rant, please buy this productttt, if youre trying do decide just go with it trust meee, it is like pure goldddd. anyways bye.

Not worth the hype or price!

I will say that Maybelline is definitely a trusted brand for cosmetics, especially when it comes to mascara. I usually wear Snapscara, which is extremely affordable, goes on easily with excellent results & comes off in a cinch. However, the store was out of it, so I had to improvise. My teen daughter (who's a TikTok fan) loves SkyHigh & that's her go-to product. Her lashes always look fabulous, so I thought I'd give it a try, when mine wasn't in stock. First off, the price is about $4+ more than my regular brand which costs around $6, so plan to pay about $10 per tube. Most expensive out there? Obviously not, but can you get better products cheaper? Absolutely! Obviously not, but can you get better products cheaper? Absolutely! I noticed this wand was thin & funky, bendy yet stiff, it was just awkward for me & made the overall application less than simple. It went on clumped in some areas, then left other lashes barely coated, so the end result was very uneven, strange looking, unappealing lashes. It also smelled nasty, not an overpowering odor, but it was a bit unpleasant. It also is flaky, leaves your lashes feeling very dry & uncomfortable, as if they're almost like a wire brush surrounding your eyes. This product just wasn't for me! I haven't tried removing it yet, because it's my first time wearing it, but I've read in other reviews that it's not easy to take off either! I used this in Blackest Black & purchased it at a Dollar General store. I've also seen it available at Walmart. I would not recommend this, nor would I ever buy it again! I will suggest that you try the Snapscara by Maybelline instead. It goes on great, always looks awesome, doesn't smudge, clump, or dry out, is super affordable, easy to remove, long lasting, and very easy to apply, even for beginners! Snapscara is sold at many drug & department stores also such as Walmart, Dollar General, CVS, & Walgreen's. SkyHigh was more like GroundLow.

Superior formula: good waterproof for contact lense wearers

I have used waterproof mascaras for many years to help hold the curl in my naturally stick-straight lashes. Non-waterproof mascaras have water in them and that will pull the curl out immediately. You can either curl your lashes, then put on mascara, or put it on and let it dry, then use a heated metal eyelash comb to separate and lift the eyelashes (just be careful to angle slightly out from your eyelid). The problem with most waterproof formulas is that they contain disteardimonium hectorite (basically clay) which makes them flake into your eyes as they dry out. I have lost count of the times I had to stop wearing my contacts because the flakes caused minor scratches in my corneas and they were too irritated for lenses. This formula doesn't contain that ingredient but still has the holding power and water resistance I need. Also, it seems a bit easier to remove. I used some petroleum jelly and then the Up & Up eye makeup remover. Micellar water works as well. Bonus: I found it in brown. That's getting harder to find.
