Compact yet sturdy product. Am enjoying using it. I was looking for a light tripod which I could carry on international trips and although this is not a carbon fiber tripod, is light enough.Am not a big user of tripods, but having put it through its paces the tripod seems good enough and the ball head performs adequately to what I want it to do.Overall am very happy with the purchase and although I had some trepidation buying this tripod am happy I did.

I go this for my 5D MK IV with Canon MP-E 65 and Macro Rail. Setup and break down are easy. My only complaint is the head adjustment. Making find adjustments is a task to say the least. The head seems to bind. You loosen the know, try to adjust and nothing. Loosen more, try to adjust, nothing. Loosen more.. BAM it lets go quickly. I have tried the little tension adjustment that is recesses in the knob but it does not help. I can see this tripod being just right for maybe just a camera body and walk around lens or a point and shoot. Another point of binding is the height adjustment. Once weight is added to the head, unless that weight is perfectly centered, you will get binding. Difficult to raise and lower.I know I said mostly negative things but I think the issue ... MoreI go this for my 5D MK IV with Canon MP-E 65 and Macro Rail. Setup and break down are easy. The head used on this tripod is incompatible with an Arca L-Bracket. The head has three sides intended to capture the provided mount. It does not allow for the longer L-Backet style mount to nest within the machined recess. Otherwise seems like a good tripod.

Like a lot of my colleagues, I’ve been thrust into making videos. Unlike some others, however, I want to do more than just get them done. I want them to look good. This lightweight tripod assurés me of eliminating camera shake and what happens with cheap tripods: they jeopardize your equipment. I’ve bought a lot of equipment from BH recently but I’m more than pleased with this one. So much so, I bought three other Manfrotto products.
Very nice quality, light and easy to use. Provides very good flexibility for difficult situations. Stable and well made. Have used it multiple times for a variety of situations in last couple of weeks. Great value - would absolutely recommend this tripod.
I've been looking for a travel tripod for my Fuji X-T2 system for quite some time that wouldn't break the bank. I still have my original BeFree tripod. Although it weighs almost the same as this model, it is rated for only 8.8lbs. I didn't like the original BeFree's flimsy single knob ball head or the flip locks. I also tried the Vanguard Veo 2, which I actually really like, but had issues with the ball head. The panning knob just fell off when I tighten it up on my first trip out. Also, although the ball head was arca-swiss compatible, I could pull my camera out of the ball head with moderate force. This definitely shouldn't have happened.Anyway, back to this BeFree Advanced tripod ...The weight is perfect for me. The ball head seems fine for now, especially since I switched to an arca-swiss compatible clamp. The only thing about the ball head that irks me just a bit is that the friction knob turns so easily. Because it is located right at the main knob, it is very easily tighten/loosen unintentionally.I love the new design with the twist lock, but that's a personal preference. The construction itself is great and sturdy. The only thing that I'm a little weary about is the plastic tripod collar and it seems like leg locks are made of plastics as well. I only got it for a week, so I cannot say for certain whether these are weak spots or not. Only time will tell.Overall, this is probably my travel tripod for a while. Good job Manfrotto for the update.
Didn't come with pieces that it was meant to come with.... Here's my message to the store: Hi there, I just received my Manfrotto Before Advanced Travel Tripod w Ball Head (red). It did not come with the 200PL-PRO Quick Release Plate or the dust cap for the Easy Link mount. We had planned a trip to the mountains tomorrow to photograph a meteor shower but aren't even able to use this tripod because of the missing quick release plate. Will you please advise how we can resolve this quickly?
A great little tripod, small and light enough that you can carry it strapped to your backpack all day. I was also lucky enough to purchase this item while Wex had it for a sizeable discount compared to usual price, which made it even better value for money. All in all a worthwhile purchase.
It takes a little getting used to, but this tripod is great. I got an r7 which is light, and this tripod worked well. It hase a sling and case with it, which also helps. Only oddity is the legs fold backwards, so you can't leave leg attachments on.
I got the original Be free and hated it. I knew going in that in was a little on the flimsy side , but I felt that I was skilled enough to make it work What I didn't foresee was the nearly impossible task of getting the quick (LOL) release plate into the ballhead. It virtually took sometimes up to ten minutes to mount it, unless I just got too frustrated and quit all together. The Be free advanced has a much better system and is slightly sturdier so it should easily handle both my Canon and Fuji gear. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because no tripod is perfect just like no camera bag is perfect. That's why I have more than one. I will say it's perfect for what I intend to use it for.
