BR 540 Not the same

I’m disappointed with my recent purchase of this perfume. Something has definitely changed in the recent years. Maybe the formula or in the process of making it?? The scent is extremely faint or simply nonexistent from my latest experience and with multiple bottles that I have tried.I recently purchased a new bottle of 540. My last bottle of the extract and body oil were purchased about 4 years ago and I just used up the last few sprays. You could barely smell it.I also witnessed other individuals in the store, testing it out and commenting the same. There scent is minimal or no scent at all.I’ve used BR 540 for many years. Hearing the same complaint from other people was confirmation for myself that there definitely is a difference, and I’m not just simply nose blind to the scent.

Does not last due to reformulation?

Same as others- previous bottle purchased about 3-4 years ago lasted so long- 1 spray would get me receiving compliments later in the day. (That is why it’s been 3-4 years since I last purchased). New bottle was undetectable by my husband and kids within an hour or so of spraying. I emailed and called MFK. They said they vigorously test them (implying no chance of a bad batch) and that the formula hasn’t changed and then didn’t take my batch code to look into it. Then I spoke with a rep at another authorized department store retailer and she said they had a bad batch last year but didn’t know anything about the current stock. Doesn’t smell on me

I had heard about this fragrance and was curious about it. I went to the local Nordstrom store to try it on and loved it. It smelled really wonderful and lasted on me the whole day. A few days later I decided to make the purchase and ordered it from Nordstrom online. When I received the perfume it was very different from what I smelled in store. I could hardly smell it on myself and the faint smell practically disappeared after a couple hours. My husband tells me he doesn’t ever smell any perfume on me when I use it. No one ever smells it on me. My coworkers who see me daily have never noticed it. I was very sad that a perfume of this value and price point smelled so little/ smelled less on me than anything I’ve ever purchased.

Extremely Disappointed

I bought a 30ml of this beautiful perfume after spraying it on myself everytime I go into a mecca store. The smell would linger on my clothes after getting home and even the next day.When I opened the 30ml and sprayed it on myself it had a strong smell of alcohol and I could not smell the baccarat rouge as strong as the tester in store. It's not a cheap perfume and to have something that doesn't smell like the tester I'm store is extremely disapointing. I paid for a perfume that smells very watered downWhy does the one in store smell amazing but my 30ml smell like a cheap perfume. Never again will I buy this perfume. There are much better ones out there for a fraction of the price. Not happy at all.

Fragrance does not last

In the last four weeks I purchased one bottle, opened it for Christmas Eve I wore to dinner and my sister in law who was sitting next to me couldn’t smell it. I tried it again a couple of days later but still no smell. I returned and exchanged it for the red bottle thinking that it might be stronger and would last. Once again DISAPPOINTED. I was told by one of the Mecca girls that Baccarat has gone vegan and for the fragrance to start smelling it needs to oxidate, the more you use it the more it oxidates. So practically you could be using the whole bottle before you can start smelling it. EVEN WITH PUTTING ON EXTRA, My husband could not smell anything, and my mom, aunt, and co-workers said they could not smell anything. It was like spraying a bottle of water on me for what it was worth. I called Neiman Marcus for a refund or credit and they took no accountability. For my inconvenience, they only offered a 90.00 credit for a 325.00 fragrance. I spent 630.00 for what I could have purchased in Walmart for 25.00.

Opposites Attract

I decided to take a chance and blind purchased this smoldering concoction of pure decadence. I was able to get it during one of Nordstrom's limited time sales. I was skeptical at first smell and had to keep coming back to it. This is a little bit of a departure from what I tend to purchase, but when it dries down, that's when you get the full effect of just how special BR 540 really is. The sillage left by this beauty is amazing when placed on the pulse points to help create that longevity. When said a little goes a long way, it is definitely true of this one. It is a bit heavy and would serve well as an evening or fall/winter scent. Everyones body chemistry is different as well as ones sense of smell. So disappointed

I dreamt of owning a bottle of this perfume for such a long time. From the moment I smelt it in store I was obsessed. I was lucky enough to finally treat myself. However I was left so so disappointed, it goes on so beautifully but you’re honestly lucky if you can still smell it an hour later. I persisted over a few days, exchanging for two different bottles, with no luck. What’s changed, I guess only the manufacturer can answer that. After now reading the reviews it’s clear it’s more a miss than a hit. I’ve never been so very excited and then disappointed so quickly. This was my dream fragrance and it is a huge let down. I hope they find a solution because I’ve never felt so special wearing something so beautiful.

the iconic baccarat

I totally got bamboozled into buying this fragrance. It came as a sample with some other stuff I had ordered off of Etiket and I had heard of the name but the notes and the description on fragrantica didn't really interest me so I was not too excited. But I sprayed it just for fun and when I tell you my mouth gaped open in surprise. I was NOT expecting to love it so fast and so intensely. I've heard it described as having barely any smell, smelling like a dentists office, etc and I always figured I wanted no part of that but I have NO idea what those people are saying. This scent is somehow airy, heady, sweet, intoxicating and fresh at the same time. It smells so good, it is literally shocking, I want to douse myself in it. It's somehow sweet without being a gourmand in that it doesn't smell like food or a bakery (which I am very much into don't get me wrong) but it smells sweet, smooth, and the scent will last for HOURS surrounding you and then eventually settle into your skin and become an intimate skinscent. I'm curious about how it'll do in the winter but for now I am loving this and if you enjoy sweet, intoxicating scents I would highly recommend this ( but maybe try a sample first just in case).
