Expensive, luxury machine that means ice cream or seasonal sorbet making takes less than 40 mins & can be done on a whim. The product replaces a Magimix I’d bought some 20 years ago and the difference is noticeable - a bigger bowl so no more overflow, the machine automatically switches mode once frozen unlike it’s earlier version which would become unbalanced & start wobbling around the kitchen counter. It’s a fabulous product and, in light of it’s cost, the only consideration to make this product absolutely perfect is the provision of a second removable metal bowl ( using the fixed bowl is messy so I’ve already purchased a second removable one) as standard because when entertaining having different types of ice cream/sorbet on the menu is even easier with an ... MoreExpensive, luxury machine that means ice cream or seasonal sorbet making takes less than 40 mins & can be done on a whim. The gelato maker is a culinary delight! It churns out creamy, dreamy gelato with ease. The consistency is perfect, and it's a breeze to experiment with flavors. It's a game-changer for homemade frozen treats. Every scoop is a taste of Italy, and I can't get enough of it. Highly recommended!

So far I've only used it twice. Both times I used the pistachio ice cream recipe and it turned out beautifully.I used fresh kernels and soaked the brown skins off and puréed them to make a lovely green paste, so no colouring was needed. After chilling in the fridge and placing in the machine, it sensed it was ready in 20 minutes. It was smooth with a consistency of professional ice cream all with natural ingredients.I love the way it will keep it cold for up to 2 hours to serve after a main meal.I'm looking forward to trying out some of the many other delicious looking recipes.Overall I'm very happy with my machine.Super-fast delivery too.

Easy to use and good results

I would have preferred a recipe booklet rather than online recipes. Some of these did not have accurate weights ie 1g of fruit. Hard to know if that is 1 kg.Otherwise good options compared to other machines and very efficient. I will use it often.

I recommend this

I bought this a few months ago. I haven't use it often. So quite expensive. But I would probably buy again. Although the brine is hard to remove from the lower bowl & has made a few rust marks on the stainless steel surfaces?I make instant ice-cream with my 3 year old granddaughter. The recipe I used with her: 1 can condensed milk "plain or caramel", 1 large pot double cream and if required a flavouring. Coco powder &/or chocolate chips, or drinking chocolate, strawberries, banana, you could use coffee, crushed biscuits, maybe alcohol, anything really. Takes about 30 mins. I haven't tried any authentic ice-cream recipes. It suggested boiling ingredients together to make a custard and chilling it overnight beforehand. Too complex & long winded for a 3 year old let ... MoreI bought this a few months ago. I haven't use it often. So quite expensive. But I would probably buy again. Magimix Gelato
21 July 2022

We've had this machine for over 6 months now. Just love it. During the summer we make ice-cream weekly, mostly using a can of condensed milk, 500ml home made yoghurt and whatever soft fruit we have. Must try something a bit more difficult! Its easy to clean, and contrary to what we thought, making the brine is no hardship.

Magimix Gelato Expert Ice Cream Maker

Bought this as I wanted Gelato and normal ice cream and this seemed to fit the bill. Our first Gelato was a chocolate Gelato and it was perfect. Our second attempt was Vanilla Ice Cream, and it was all going so well until we tasted it and the brine had seeped into the mix. We know what we did wrong so letting others know so they don't make the same mistake. Always make sure the secondary bowl is in situ in the ice cream maker before adding your ice cream custard mix. If you place the custard mix into the secondary bowl first, and then lower the secondry bowl into the machine, the tight fit of the bowl as you push it downwards onto the spindle can cause the brine to be forced up the centre spindle and enter into the mixture. I would recommend this machaine as ... MoreBought this as I wanted Gelato and normal ice cream and this seemed to fit the bill. Our first Gelato was a chocolate Gelato and it was perfect. Star quality product

Wow 🤩 this is my favourite purchase in a very long time.I can make healthy frozen yoghurts, fresh sorbet, indulgent ice cream with all natural ingredients. It is amazingly simple to use and clean and gives consistent excellent results. I have a very small kitchen area and because of its tall narrow shape it sits perfectly on my worktop.Thank you Magimix , for yet again another quality product ( I have the magimix 5200xl) 😊

This is SO cool ! More magic from Magimix!
11 May 2020

Nearly two years ago, on the advice of a JLP partner, I bought a brilliant Magimix Power Blender, having previously been nearly deafened by a Vitamix model (which I returned). Being in the market for a decent ice cream maker I once again ventured to JLP and sought the advice of a partner, who immediately steered me to (can you guess?) a Magimix model. Buoyed by the success of my blender purchase, and following his inevitable quality presentation, I had no qualms about diving in and buying one. So far I have only made three different types of ice cream, but all were made in just 20 minutes and all were a brilliant smooth Italian-style consistency! I am still getting to grips with the machine, but I note it also makes sorbet (a favourite of the wife's, so there will be brownie points coming my way) as well as granita, which is the kind of slightly crunchy icy version. That is next on the list of things to do. I also found online a brilliant ebook with dozens of brilliant recipes. https://www.paperturn-view.com/magimix/livre-love-my-ice-cream-machine-hd?pid=Nzg78539Another fab purchase, so thank you Magimix and thank you John Lewis and your amazing partners who know their stuff!

Top Quality - Outstanding Sorbet/Ice Cream/Gelato

The Magimix Gelato Expert is a superb addition to the kitchen, and if you are into cooking/baking/ice cream then look no further - spend once, spend right, enjoy yourselves ! (this is the short summary)A bit of a family history here -- grew up in France, the Magimix food processor was always part of my parents' kitchen (still is to this day), and has been part of mine for over a decade. Back in early 2000's my parents decided to upgrade their ice cream machine, acquiring the ancestor to the "Gelato Expert" (the one being sold here), the then called the "Turbine a Glace Compacte" (Magimix too). It has reliably produced amazing sorbets/ice creams over the past 20 years, and continues to do so today. It has reliably produced amazing sorbets/ice creams over the past 20 years, and continues to do so today. The only drawback was that it was all "manual" (on/off + timer), though once you master it the results are unbelievable.Fast forward to 2016 -- I decide to look for one here in the UK, to no avail. I emailed Magimix but the response was verbatim "This is the French version, I am afraid we don't sell this one here in the UK.". What a missed opportunity I thought !As i was considering having one shipped from France last week, i realised John Lewis now stock these ! amazing ! We ordered, delivery was prompt - usual great JL service - and in the space of 5 days it has been running every day. So far we did mango sorbet (see pic), lemon sorbet, passion fruit sorbet, and raspberry ice cream... so so so good ! kids love it, we love it. This weekend we did passion fruit sorbet, using the magimix food processor centrifugator to separate the juice from the seeds .. and then fed this to the "Gelato Expert" - sublime result ! The new automated modes make things so simple and address the only drawback to its' ancestor - credit to Magimix. If the budget can stretch you won't regret it, an amazing lockdown addition ... and one you will enjoy for many years to come !
