Very fine texture. This Bunch sample came at just the right time with Christmas goodies on the menu. I used it to make rum balls. I did find that this is really finely grated compared to the desiccated coconut that I already had in the pantry. It is also not as white as my other one, probably because it is organic, but not sure. Taste was much the same as my usual one. Comes in a resealable bag but I used it all and if I did have any left over I have a pantry container for it as it is a pantry staple for me. The fact that this one was organic wouldn't sway me one way or the other. Price was $5 for the 250g bag. Very expensive but probably because it is organic. Delicious Coconut. I love coconut and usually have a supply on hand. So it was nice to have an extra bag to use when I was doing my Christmas Baking. I decided to use some of this coconut in a recipe shared here on Bunch by @elenipap - Turkish Delight Chocolate Balls. Even though I'm not a Turkish Delight fan I made these for some friends who are - and I tasted the "runt" of the balls for quality control. This coconut is just as good as any other brand of coconut I've tried. I'll be going through my recipes to see what else I can put the remainder in. I did think it was a tad expensive though - $5 for 250g. When buying coconut again I will be going back to my usual regular Woollies branded, non organic as it's only $3. 60 for 1kg. White xmas here I come. Well its that time of the year when Mr Gorky craves white xmas. Not the type with snow but the type with coconut, copha, dried fruit and icing sugar. So this sample of desiccated coconut came at the right time. To be honest I had a taste test of the pack of other branded coconut I have and this one and couldn't taste any difference. There is a difference in the texture though with this being a much finer grated one compared to the other brand which is still small but bigger strands. This macro one is actually going to be better for making the white xmas as it is finer and will mix in better. Cost $5. Not a product of Australia but then since when do we grow coconuts in commercial quantities so was never expecting it to be one of ours.

Add flavour to your yoghurt. As always the macro products are easy to spot with their distinct mauve Certified Organic stripe. The packet is re sealable, always handy. On opening the packet the smell of fresh, well fresh desiccated as opposed to stale desiccated, coconut is strong. I tried some straight from the packet with a teaspoon. Lovely coconut flavour. It has as a very fine texture. Finer than other brands I have used. I used some to roll chocolate truffle balls and have also been adding some to small tubs of yoghurt to add extra flavour. Delicious with honey or raspberry flavours. I’m not someone who has to buy all organic products. I understand that organic products always cost more and at $5. 00 for 250g I probably want buy this again.
Fine Coconut. I used this coconut to make truffles. It is a lot finer than normal desiccated coconut. However. Desiccated coconut is just that, desiccated coconut! I dropped 1 because of the price - a 250g packet is $5. 00 and produced in the Phillippines. Normal desiccated coconut, the one I use, is a 500g packet for $3. 60 packed in Australia from imported ingredients but does contain sulphites whereas the organic one has no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. This is a very good product and if money was no object I would purchase but at $20 a kilo compared to the WW brand at $7. 20 a kilo, I cannot justify the price.
Great addition. Item was located in healthy food section not the bakery section as advised on website. Selling at $5 for 250g. It was produce in Philippine then got packed in Australia. It packed in a soft plastic bag with resealable zip. Very convenient. Inside the coconut smells nice, very fine texture and little moist. I used in rum ball, it gives a nice even outer layer. It could be a good addition to your acai bowl or add bit into your cheesecake base to enhance the flavour. I would still buy Woolworths homeband if I need in future as I am not a person too conscious about organic food and the non-organic is the way cheaper.
Great organic product. I love that this desiccated coconut is free from preservatives. The coconut was finely shredded, which is very different from the cheaper brands. However, it is quite expensive compared to similar products. This is a product of the Philippines, although packed in Australia. It has a good texture and great quality for use in baking slices or making protein balls. The package keeps the flavour fresh and moist with the resealable closure top. It does taste better than the cheaper alternatives, possibly due to the fact that it is organic. Thanks for the opportunity to try this product, I will consider purchasing this once again, purely for the taste.
Great quality coconut for sweet treats! PRODUCT: Good taste and texture, and is quite similar to other brands available (e. g. the standard Woolworths brand coconut). I used this in my homemade lemon and coconut snack balls (I’ll post the recipe on my profile shortly) and it tasted great! You could also use it in other cookie or slice recipes. PACKAGING: Standard resealable Macro packaging. PURCHASE AGAIN?: I’d probably only purchase this for special occasions due to the price for a small product size. But it’s a great quality organic product! Thanks very much for the sample Bunch!
Quality with Unique Flavour. Picked up this sample a few weeks ago but just got the opportunity to review and use it this week. Was readily available in the Macro section of the supermarket and plenty in stock. The packaging was satisfactory as the writing on front and the zip facility was conveniently acceptable. For 250g and being organic I felt the quality was top of the brands hence the more expensive price of around $5. Taste texture and quality was above average I thought as we used it in our cereals, smoothies, baking, deserts and something different in our coffees. Overall the desiccated coconut was of good quality and had a true coconut flavour also was organic. Would definitely put on my shopping list in the future and thank the Bunchteam for the ... MoreQuality with Unique Flavour. Just as good. I found this coconut as good as any other brand of coconut. With that being said, I'm no chef and I'm not making anything super exciting. I made rum balls (minus the rum). Great activity for my daughter and I to do together. She wasn't overly keen on getting the condensed milk & cocoa stuck to her hands, so I ended up doing the job, but we still had fun. The coconut was fine enough to be able to roll the balls in it and have a nice covered texture. Straight from the packet, it was loose and fluffy (after a little agitation from being packaged for a while). The easy-to-open and resealable bag is also helpful, as we have run out of storage jars/containers, and keeps it fresh. Unfortunately, it isn't an Australian product, but I also haven't really seen ... MoreJust as good. I found this coconut as good as any other brand of coconut. Unfortunately, it isn't an Australian product, but I also haven't really seen any coconuts growing in Aus, due to the climate here.
