The V2 coincidentally has a truncated 1-year warranty. Will the left click have issues on V2 of the product? Time will tell and I will update this review if that time comes.Scroll: The biggest selling point of the MX Master was the smart speed-adaptive scroll wheel that would intelligently switch between click-by-click and smooth scroll. Sorry, despite the similar styling, the MX Anywhere V2 does not have that feature. It retains the switching mechanism of the V1 mouse: press down on the scroll wheel to switch between the two modes. It’s a bummer—but it’s still the best scroll mechanism on any portable mouse to date.Connectivity: V2 adds Bluetooth connectivity so that the mouse may be paired with up to 3 devices (laptop, tablet, PC). You’ll know whether this is important to you. Personally, I use this mouse only with my laptop because I prefer full-featured mice for desktop and no mice for tablet.Power Button: The V2 features a small power switch on the underside that you’ll use to turn off the mouse for storage/transportation. I find this switch to be much less convenient than that on the V1, which was a large, easy-to-actuate spring-loaded tab that slid over the laser. With the original design, there was no searching or fiddling. Yes, first world problems at their finest.Gestures: While the button below the click wheel offers access to the gestures feature found on the MX Master (ex. swipe up to maximize window), I have always set this button to be a middle-click button using the Logitech software because this mouse otherwise will lack a middle-click. You may still set one of the side buttons to activate gestures if that’s important to you. But I prefer using those for Ctrl+Pg Up/Down to scroll through tabs in Excel and Chrome. Ultimately, personal preference.Battery: Two month advertised battery life is quite good—right around what you’d yield with V1 of the mouse which took two AA batteries. The rechargeable battery is admittedly an improvement to AA batteries because while almost nobody carries spare batteries on them, it is easy to borrow a micro USB cable from someone in the office in a pinch.Receiver: The Pico Unifying Receiver from the V2 is lower-profile than the original Unifying Receiver on the V1. However, the big downside is that there is no internal storage for the receiver now because there’s no need to open the mouse to change batteries. That was one of my favorite design features of the V1. While you won’t be removing the receiver often, a safe place to store it was a godsend in the past.Appearance: From most angles, the V2 is supposed to be more attractive with its Logitech’s new MX design language. The top is matte, unlike the [later generations of] V1 mice which featured gloss finishes. That said, it’s not a dramatic mouse and actually looks quite “corporate” in person, so it doesn’t really draw attention in the office. Personally, I think the silver trim and gloss on the V1 might have been more distinctive.Carrying Pouch: Non existent in V2. This is fine because I stopped using the carrying pouch after a while for the V1, and just slipped the mouse into a safe compartment in my bag, but with a matte finish, the V2 might pick up more scratches this way.Price: The MSRP for V2 and V1 respectively are $79 and $59. So you’re looking at about $20 extra for a refreshed design, rechargeable battery, and Bluetooth/switching functionality. (Note that the street price for Logitech mice tends to drift down to as low as 50% of MSRP over the product life cycle—watch for sales.)Conclusion: If you do not need the Bluetooth connectivity for separate devices, I would easily advise against this mouse. Go for the V1 at a lower price with the longer warranty and same key features. On the other hand the V2 does feature rechargeable batteries which is nice for all of those who couldn’t find AA batteries when they needed them the most. If the scroll wheel had been updated as well, that would have been a major selling point. Time will reveal the left-click durability of the V2. But frankly, while I do not regret my purchase, there are not many features pushing early-adopters to this mouse.

There is a second or two of lag before cursor movement when the mouse is powered on, while it "shakes hands" with the computer, but once it pairs, the cursor responds instantly, and movement is very smooth. Speaking of smooth, the mouse slides over my desktop with ease, and does the same on the tables at the library and Tim Hortons for when I go to those places to work.Those who are used to pushing the mouse wheel straight down for a middle click might be initially confused. On the MX Anywhere 2, the small square button below the wheel is your middle click button; having the middle click separated from the wheel enables more reliable middle clicking, eliminating the annoying tendency to accidentally scroll just before or after clicking (a problem common on other mice), which I love as I probably use the middle button more often than the left button, mainly for opening links in new tabs and closing tabs in Firefox.What "clicking" the mouse wheel actually does is change the behavior of the mouse wheel, which has two modes. In one mode, it behaves like a typical mouse wheel, turning through discrete "steps" that you can feel each time it advances. The other mode removes those discrete steps and feedback, as well as all brakes, allowing you to fling the wheel in a particular direction and let it spin freely for several seconds, a surprisingly useful feature when rapidly scrolling through huge documents and webpages and not wanting to move the cursor over to the scroll bar and back. Each downward press on the mouse wheel alternates between these two modes.If you install the Logitech Options software from the Logitech website, this software also enables you to reprogram said square button, the back and forward buttons on the left side of the mouse, and tilting the wheel (which defaults to horizontal scrolling, a useful feature), as well as swapping the functions of the two main mouse buttons for left-handers. Many, many functions are available for programming, and any function can be assigned to any of the five programmable buttons (including the wheel tilting).The back and forward buttons are in a very comfortable and ergonomic position, but only if you use the mouse with your right hand like I do. If you are a southpaw, those buttons seem like they would be in an awkward position unless you're willing to use it with your off (right) hand.My first of two complaints about this product is the battery life. The box claims that the battery (a rechargeable battery built in) will last two months on a single charge; the fine print qualifies this by saying that this battery life is with 6 hours of use daily. I use the mouse approximately 10 to 12 hours per day, occasionally significantly less, so I would expect to get around four to five weeks out of a charge. Instead, the battery dies after about two weeks of use, and annoyingly, by the time you get the low battery warning (a flashing red light on the mouse, and if Logitech Options is installed and configured to do so, a semi-transparent overlay on your screen), you have literally just a few *seconds* of battery life left. By the time you get the charging cable out and get it connected, it's already dead (though it comes back to life once plugged in). On the plus side, the charging cable is a standard USB cable, so any USB cable with a Micro-B connector (such as most Android chargers) will work if you lose the cable that came with the mouse.My second complaint is more of an operating system issue than an issue with the mouse itself, but still something worth warning about: the MX Anywhere 2 CANNOT connect via Bluetooth on Ubuntu (all previous software mentions in this review were under Windows 10). This mouse requires Bluetooth 4.0, which is not a problem for Ubuntu, but also requires Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Smart support, which Ubuntu's Bluetooth drivers do not have due to still using a very out-of-date version of the "bluez" library. Thus, when I boot into Ubuntu, I have to use the touchpad or dig out the Unifying receiver that came with the mouse and connect through it. This is supposed to be fixed in 15.10 Wily Werewolf, due to be released sometime in October 2015, but won't be backported to the current LTS version due to incompatibility issues, so Ubuntu users not using intermediate versions with short-term support will have to wait until around April 2016 when the next LTS version (likely 16.04) is released before they can connect this mouse via Bluetooth.Overall, it's a great mouse, albeit a bit expensive. It loses a quarter of a star for Ubuntu incompatibility, half a star for the battery life complaints, and half a star for the high price, and I'll happily round the resulting 3.75 rating up to 4.PROS:- Bluetooth support, freeing up a USB port- High level of programmability- Dual scrolling modes- Middle button separate from wheel- Comfortable back and forward buttons (for right-handers)- Glides over tabletop/desktop easilyCONS:- Battery life half of what is claimed on box- Virtually no warning before battery dies (always carry the cable with you when you travel with it, even for a 30-minute work session at the coffeehouse)- Cannot connect via Bluetooth on current Ubuntu LTS version- Expensive

There are 2 settings for the scroll wheel - Hyper-Fast which has zero resistance and "Gear" mode which you can feel slight clicks as you scroll, like most mice. Maybe I got a defective item, but with mine in Gear mode, I could barely feel the clicks. It felt very "loose" and tended to scroll back up a click after releasing finger from a normal scroll. It was very similar to Hyper-Fast mode where you could spin it quickly with your finger and it would keep spinning after contact. I probably would have exchanged it for another of the same to see if mine was defective but there is another issue I didn't realize before I purchased - pressing down on the scroll wheel does not give you a "left click" like most mice, instead this action switches the scroll mode from Hyper-Fast to Gear Mode, which as I mentioned earlier, is practically the same feel and there is no ability to program it to be a left click. All that being said, I gave it 2 stars because I did like the size, comfort, pointer response, and rechargeability of it but the scroll wheel was a non-starter. I instead bought the Tecknet M002 (2.4 GHz Wireless) that I am using as I write this and I like it a lot, especially for the price. I also bought the Bluetooth version (Tecknet M308) to compare since they are so inexpensive. I will write reviews for those as well on their respective product pages.

I have been using the MX series anywhere wireless mice since 2008 with great satisfaction. The pointer unit I received this time is similar to the others and the setup to get this unit working using a XPS13 laptop with WIN 10 was as simple as plugging in the USB receiver, turn on the mouse and start working! This unit is compact, sensitive and can be used anywhere so for me it continues to make a great travel companion with my laptop. This device provides precision pointing for busy spreadsheets, CAD drawings, and for on the road gamer's. I leave my unit turned on 24/7 and with this kind of abuse battery replacement is needed every 45 to 60 days. The MX has had problems with the left selector button. My Second One

This is the second MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mouse that I have purchased. The first one I bought in a store after trying out every kind they had. I didn't choose it for its special features really, rather for its nice shape and subtle click. It fits my slimmer hand and doesn't tire it out. That first one served me for years, but then maybe it got worn out because it got to double clicking all the time. This caused a lot of weird things to happen, so I finally decided that I needed a new mouse. I didn't want to try another kind though, even the upgrade for this one, because I didn't know if it'd be harder on my hand. So I got another MX Anywhere 2 again, and it works fine! I'm happy with it.

It connected without issue and a recent stable update to Manjaro added its battery status to the battery notification area which is awesome. The included cable is a bit stiff and short, but its a micro USB which is cheap and most anyone with an Android phone in the household will have plenty of cables laying around. Has an off switch on the bottom and a switch that should allow it to be paired and switched between on 3 computers which I have not tried yet (an likely wont). The mouse may be a little big for a laptop mouse but to be honest thats a pro for me as its still portable but comfortable to use. I am very happy with it. There is a MX Anywhere 2S version which is newer and so far as I could tell looking it up no different than this but at the time I purchased about $20 more. I am glad I didnt get the newer version as I dont see any advantage and I saved a fair amount of money.
