The BB30 bottom bracket uses press-in bearings into threadless shells, so the bearing-to-shell surface has to be super tight. On my bike, the bearings weren't a super tight fit so after a while the bottom bracket area would start clicking with every pedal stroke. I've tried everything- fresh bearings, lots of grease, but the clicking would all eventually come back. After some research online it seems like many others have this same problem, and someone recommends the Loctite 609. After 1000+km of riding in all kinds of weather including rain, the bottom bracket is still rattle-free. Out of curiosity, I tired removing the bearings and they came out in one try! So they don't seize the bearings. That's an excellent product in my book!

I bought a couple Mepro Night Sight front sights for my Mossberg 590 front sight bases. A few of the other customers stated in the instructions, this was recommended and it's easier just to buy it when ordering the sights instead of looking for it locally. I ran with that advice and bought it. Only a little is needed. I put a thin coat through out the dovetail on the base. after installing the sight, I was still able to make adjustments to get the sight centered.

I have used this retaining compound on AmeriGlo, Meprolight and Trijicon front sight screws for Glocks. Clean the threads and surfaces with alcohol, apply Loctite 609, wipe off excess and allow to dry. I've never had any issues with the front sights moving and I have successfully removed front sights with dried Loctite 609 on the threads. 5 Stars. * Please let me know if my review has helped. Thank You.*

I use this for BB30 bottom brackets on bikes. The idea is to prevent the inevitable creak. Be careful not to use too much! I think that was my problem on first use. It worked great; no creak. But when it came time to replace the BB due to worn bearings, it could not be removed (with proper tools). I finally had to take a dremel and cut through the metal bearing retainers to cut into the plastic BB housing to get it out! I *think* I didn't damage my bike's BB shell at all...but be careful! Use a tiny amount only. And remember: BB30 bottom brackets are not meant to be removed, other than when replaced. You have to hammer them out, and that means they are not reinstallable.

14 March 2014

I was doing a bearing replacement on the front hub of my road bike, only to discover that there was a very slight amount of play between the bearing race and the hub shell. This play resulted in a super annoying 'clicking' sound when I rode. Someone suggested to me to try using Loctite 609, which would fill that small gap, and help the retain bearing race in place, preventing it from moving. I tried it and it worked very well, and I am once again a very happy rider.

It's no secret that integrated headsets and pressfit BB's of today's bike are common blockers in many people's mission of having a silent bike.Simply clean up the bearing surfaces, apply a little bearing retainer around the bearing or cup and install. Simple and effective. Enjoy your quiet bike.

Product work as expected

Loctite 609 for retaining front night sight on my wife's Ruger P95 as recommended my sight manufacturer. Typical of Loctite products it worked perfectly, as I expected. I have enough to do quite a few now, but still a good value.

Works but be careful...
26 March 2022

This stuff works almost too well. I believe it has a higher temp rating then Loctite red too. I used it to bed my gas block to prevent a supposed leak a while back . It worked; even after my barrel had gotten hot from having fun with my Rare Breed FRT trigger several times it still held. Then I needed to take my gas block off... It was not fun. Had to use a MAPP gas torch to heat my block/barrel way above my comfort zone while pounding on it with a brass punch with the muzzle of the barrel on the floor for several minutes to finally get it to break free. Once broken it was easy going from there on but like I said, I had to heat my barrel/block up so much that I hope I did not weaken it. So if you use it for that purpose I would say use in moderation.
