Afghans as Wedding Gifts

In fact, both ladies just had their first babies, and they've gotten their baby gifts at the same time as their wedding gifts, as life happens. And as life had happened, I've used crocheting as therapy. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love for each afghan in a herringbone pattern. I liked how squishy and soft the yarn is, and I'm going to make another afghan for myself in that pattern and with Pound of Love. My only complaint is that this yarn is knotted and tangled through out the skein and it slows down the process and creates frustration if crocheting is supposed to be relaxing and therapy. Center pull skeins

I was VERY unhappy with one of the two skeins purchased. I prefer to use the center pull method, but was unable to find the beginning yarn. The whole center of the skein was all knotted and the beginning tail was hidden inside. I must have removed 2/3 of the inside of that skein before I could start using it. I cut the inside ā€œmoundā€ off and could use what was left of the skein to start my project . I spent an hour winding the ā€œmoundā€ into separate balls. This was all very unfortunate because by adding the next ball, it left all of these tails to sew in, not ideal for the product I was making.

I just cannot believe this ice blue is meant to be ā€œpastel greenā€, made me heart broken. I don’t have the money to buy more yarn right now so I just have to make dye with yarn I already had, so pretty disappointing. Wish lion brand advertised their colors better. Great value yarn! Special colors.
7 July 2024

Lots and lots of yardage! Good value. Projects work up nicely but be careful about tension because imperfections tend to show up more easily than some other yarns. Also be careful as the yarn can split easily. Otherwise I love the muted colors available and this yarn works well when I’m making peas in a pod. It’s kind of hard to find this particular color green for some reason. I’m glad I got this one and it comes with a lot. I believe it’s a 4 weight but it’s a little on the thinner side compared to other 4’s.

Love Pound of Love Yarn!
10 September 2024

I really enjoy crocheting with the Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn. It’s a nice thickness, not too thin, and not too bulky for a #4 weight. The colors are nice and clear, but I do wish there were more. The price keeps going up, as does all the yarn, but one huge ball goes a long way. This yarn washes and wears well with little pilling.Overall I will continue to purchase this yarn whenever I need this slightly thicker weight.

Mocha is Awful
24 October 2023

I bought a skein of the Mocha last year during the Black Friday week sales. This yarn is garbage, specifically this color! To try and get any useable yarn out from the middle is a joke. Every time I just got a massive ball of knotted up yarn. I have other colors that function just fine. But even once pulling out that ball and cutting and trying from there, it just keeps happening. I threw it out. The color is unique and I want to love it, but I can’t wind it up and I certainly won’t use the skein from the outside - the trash was the only place for it after countless frustrating tries. 2 stars is simply for the color itself, otherwise it’s 0-1.

Pound of Love yarn - best yarn ever1
11 July 2024

I love this yarn! And a whole pound of yarn! Even better. I make granny square blankets for donating and this Pound of Love yarn allows me to do a continuous join and also do the boarder without running out of yarn or having to join another skene. Then with the leftovers I start the next set of granny squares. It washes up great and when I do need another skene, the color always matches. And its soft.

Pound of frustration …
9 August 2023

I have used this yarn for years. They have changed the yarn and I think they changed where it is made (different manufacturer) I think the quality of the yarn has improved but the problem is if you are like me and like to pull from the inside this yarn now is a ball of knots! I even had 1 skein where when I pulled a huge chunk of yarn came out and was not attached to anythingšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø. I also notice that there are small threads from other colors that are mixed into it (see pic below) . Like red thread with the antique white yarn. Impossible to get out. Also the dye lots are way off. The skien I had left over has more of a cream color, the new skien is very white, they were bought about a month apart. Pound of love
3 February 2024

I really like pound of love for bigger projects. I do use a ball winder that can handle the bigger skeins. I love that it's machine wash and dry. I make gifts for people that don't want to hand wash and lay flat to dry. So an acrylic yarn is my go to. The bigger skeins also means less ends to weave in. The most knots I've found in some skeins is two. What I don't like is the center pull is hard to find but that's said for all lionbrand yarn. The yarn does have a dye lot so you have to make sure it matches.

horrible yarn!

i bought the wintergreen color of this yarn, and i loved the color. however the skein tangled so badly, and repeatedly. it was broken into 5 different pieces by the time i got it all untanged and wound into balls. none of those 5 sections of yarn were tied together. all their loose ends got caught up and caused horrid tangles of yarn barf when pulled from the middle. so the second skein i tried pulling from the outside. well the way the skein is wound over the ends, the skein tumbles head over foot each time it unwinds. the gigantic skein cant just stay where you put it like inside a snapware yarn container or special yarn totebag with a grommet for the yarn to pull through. you literally CANNOT pull the yarn up. i had to repeatedly cut away badly spun sections. i ...Ā Morei bought the wintergreen color of this yarn, and i loved the color. however the skein tangled so badly, and repeatedly. it was broken into 5 different pieces by the time i got it all untanged and wound into balls. none of those 5 sections of yarn were tied together. all their loose ends got caught up and caused horrid tangles of yarn barf when pulled from the middle. so the second skein i tried pulling from the outside. well the way the skein is wound over the ends, the skein tumbles head over foot each time it unwinds. the gigantic skein cant just stay where you put it like inside a snapware yarn container or special yarn totebag with a grommet for the yarn to pull through. you literally CANNOT pull the yarn up. i had to repeatedly cut away badly spun sections. i will never buy this yarn again. no wonder they keep putting it on sale for so cheap. its crap.
