I ordered this monitor from Lenovo about a week ago. It came right away, just as promised. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research into the application of this monitor but I did ask an online chat representative if it was compatible with the P340 and I was told yes. I'll have a separate review for the P340 but you should know that the 'plug-in' feature of the monitor only accommodates 1 Display port (the monitor), 1 USB (a keyboard?) and power. This won't plug into the graphics card, if you have one.I wish it was more integrated. This was going to be my solution for moving my desktop back and forth from the office but it won't cut it.Only used the camera once but it wasn't very clear. Definitely in line with other monitors of equal (got it on super sale) value, if you ignore the added features.

What I did not expect was to receive our new monitor with the only instructions being a single sheet of paper with small pictures and no text based instructions, just confusing pictures and drawings. My first discovery was that the new monitor used DisplayPort video connections. None of my computers have DisplayPort connections/video. So where were the instructions for connecting my new monitor to my existing computer? Missing! I called Lenovo Tech support multiple times, speaking with a variety of folks who could offer differing advice, none of which were useful. I spent hours on hold (about 6 hours) over the course of 4 or 5 phone calls. I rechecked the Lenovo website specifications for the monitor, but the specs did not indicate that it would be necessary to buy more accessories (cables, converters to go from HDMI to DisplayPort, USB v3.0 type A to type B cable, DisplayPort to DisplayPort) The only breath of fresh air in this entire fiasco is a Tech Support agent named Josh with whom I spoke and gave me the last piece of information to make this pig work. Josh understood my dilemma and helped solve it. Please let him know that he is worth more than anyone else in the Lenovo stable of employees world wide.

I recently tried to get this monitor working for a client of mine. This type of thing should be about the simplest part of my job, while moving all of her files and getting her new system up and running smoothly for her business should have take me the most time. Also there are 7 buttons on this monitor..... only two of those buttons actually do anything. The power button will turn it on and off, and the weird symbol you used for display port switching will switch between AIO and Display port, all of the other buttons are simply there to make clicky sounds.

Great Product...Not so Great Installation Support

After spending a couple of weeks digging and prodding around the internet and talking with Lenovo support multiple times, I finally got my monitor connected to my old desktop so that it and all of its features are working. At the time of purchase, I specifically asked about being able to connect it to a desktop other than the Tiny in One and was told it would be no problem. After getting to the point of actually requesting to return the monitor, I FINALLY managed to procure all the right cables and converters to get it properly connected and am now very pleased with its performance. After getting to the point of actually requesting to return the monitor, I FINALLY managed to procure all the right cables and converters to get it properly connected and am now very pleased with its performance. It would be so simple for the product to include minimal written word instructions about what connections are needed in order to use the monitor with a desktop or other NOT Tiny in One computer that does not have a DisplayPort connection...since the monitor has ONLY DisplayPort available. Something so simple as HDMI to DisplayPort Converter Adapter cable or VGA to DisplayPort Converter Adapter cable and DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable are required to connect this monitor to a computer not enabled for direct DisplayPort connection. In addition, a USB 3.0 A Male to B Male cable is also required in order to enable the built in touchscreen, camera, and microphone functions. In fact, this information should be included in the sales description materials so that the buyer could be prepared with the proper cables when the product is received. Not only did that not happen, but multiple calls to Lenovo support NEVER provided this information. For the casual (but not totally ignorant) computer user, effective installation was extremely frustrating. But again, after a couple of weeks of frustration, my monitor is now connected to my desktop; and I am very pleased. I do really like having speakers, webcam, microphone, etc. all in one product so that computer components aren't spread out all over my workspace. I don't have a great deal of experience with the monitor yet, but so far I think both the audio and video are of good quality for everyday home computer use.

It recommends connecting via either net cable, really, in 2020!!! and the router is 2 rooms away. Will be calling support today although they may not be much help with no internet connection. May be sending the whole thing back even though I'll get a hard time not doubt since the monitor was bought slightly over a month ago. Such are the trials of life. :(

It Couldn't Suck More If It Tried
4 September 2020

As an engineer who has set up many computer systems, I couldn't believe this one was causing me so much trouble! I even did the investigative research to make sure I'd have the right cables because that doesn't seem to be clearly stated in the specs or description. Sadly, I should have taken that as a sign of things to come. I bought this as a second monitor to my simple, non-touchscreen one. I spent an hour trying to get this system working. The displayport and USB B cable connected happily, as did the power cord. It turned on, acknowledged the displayport connection, and promptly receded into power saving mode. I could not get it to leave power saving mode. I could not get it to leave power saving mode. When I tried to set multiple displays, my functioning monitor acted like there was another monitor (the mouse could go off the screen and windows disappeared from the functioning screen) but the Lenovo never did display. I finally spent an hour trying to talk to tech support through both chat and phone, where I was hung up on while on hold, misdirected to departments, and finally got to software support, where I learned that it would cost $69 for them to start troubleshooting. I made sure everyone was completely informed of my setup, including the fact that my desktop was an HP, which they said must mean it's a software problem. They didn't guarantee a solution or even acknowledge the impossible user guide (it's clearly translated to English in a grammatically incorrect way), and wouldn't talk to me any more about the fact that this monitor was already expensive enough and paying another 1/3 of the price just to MAYBE get it to work was ridiculous. I finally researched further in the questions and reviews here, where I learned that my machine IS NOT COMPATIBLE. This was only found in a link in an answer to one of the last questions here. Not in the specs or description of the actual product, but hidden away as if you're not supposed to know whether it will work for you. The MANY service reps I spoke to could have said something (as it seems no HPs are compatible) but their priority was charging me for a software troubleshooting session that would have resolved nothing. I will never even consider another Lenovo machine.

Following these directions carefully you will avoid the frustration that many of us have experienced and you will have an incredible monitor. See pics below to see exactly what you need. These cables will run you about another $50, but that plus the price of the monitor are well worth it in my opinion. Enjoy!

SAGA OF GETTING A NEW COMPUTER
8 June 2020

I had a rocky start because I didn't realize the tower I'd ordered and the ThinkCentre monitor were not compatible. It was difficult to actually talk to a salesperson or tech to find out the right combination. My laptop was getting old and things have stopped working on it. The need for a CD player was major in my decision for a new computer. Unfortunately, a 2-week ordeal began. AFTER I had made a purchase, it began to get easier to reach a live body. I have to say SOME of the people I spoke with were knowledgeable and eager to help. Others were just calling it in. Bottom line was, I returned the tower and ordered the Tiny guts compatible with the monitor. THEN I had to order a DVD burner, and of course! THAT was not compatible with the new system. My new computer is up and running, and takes up less room than my laptop, which I had been using, hooked up with work. I am still awaiting the DVD burner (just a matter of days, now), which, ironically, is the reason for this change! Frustrations aside, the products are beyond excellent and easy to install, once you have the correct pieces. I would ask the Lenovo powers that be, to get rid of the stupid FAQs and put in place some real people who could answers such inane questions, such as "I just purchased ******, what would be the best DVD burner for that system?", or "what monitor goes with ****?" Would that be too much to ask? With all that going on, the FAQs were useless!

Have tested touchscreen, speaker and webcam using Xoom and it works like a charm. Love the touchscreen on both my laptop and monitor. The monitor does not come with any cables except power chord . Does not come with keyboard and mouse as mentioned in some reviews. The only ports available in the monitor are 1. Power chord 2. USB B 3. Display Port (DP) .Following were required to make this work as secondary monitor to Lenovo Thinkpad laptop with HDMI port.1. A HDMI to DP convertor/ adaptor that plugs in to the laptop HDMI port and converts HDMI output to DP Input .2. A Display Port to Display Port cable that plugs into the convertor on one end and to monitor on the other end ,3. USB 3.0 A to USB 3.0 B cable that is required for touchscreen on monitor to work.Picture quality of Monitor is however not as good as that of the ThinkPad Extreme X1 Laptop. Not sure if this is due to the quality of the adapter conversion of HDMI to DP or if the X1 screen itself is superior. I am planning to get a Lenovo Mini or Nano to see how it works with the monitor.
