(Rewarded Review) Great Laptop but Some Concerns- Considering Return

This appears to be a widespread issue with the model from what I have read online, and is far from "all day use" advertised. After a week I decided to reset the battery gauge however afterwards it indicated the battery now only has a charge capacity of 47.98wh out of the 52.4wh battery size it was advertised as, which again is concerning to see an almost 10% reduction in battery capacity after a week of use.

I bought the Gen4 because I wanted to try an AMD system, from what I see you get higher performance for less money compared to Intel. I not sure what the issue was but it was not that big of deal in the end.

It is not a good laptop as it used to be

I bought a laptop on 12.2023 that I have customized manually using the "Build" option.I paid for extra features like finger print and flash card reader, and Lenovo charged me with 100-150$ more (+ tax on the top of that), but laptop arrived with this feature.Ok - fine, mistakes happens, let's fix them. After contacting customer support several times, and provide proofs that this features are missing, they replied that replacement is not possible since it is not possible to build laptop with such hardware. Then why do you offer it in your website? why do you take people's money. It is the last time I get a Thinkpad or Lenovo product.Next time I will get an Apple (MacBook or similar) laptop, or an ASUS laptop.Thinkpad used to be an excellent laptops. But ... MoreI bought a laptop on 12.2023 that I have customized manually using the "Build" option.I paid for extra features like finger print and flash card reader, and Lenovo charged me with 100-150$ more (+ tax on the top of that), but laptop arrived with this feature.Ok - fine, mistakes happens, let's fix them. But IBM high quality laptops time is end... and the more time passes, Thinkpad brand becomes more and more poor and low quality. [Rewarded Review] Excellent spec let down by poor power management
21 October 2024

Lightweight, powerful, good config and comes with Linux! What’s not to like? Well, it has one fatal flaw - the battery life (when new) is not even 5 hours if you do just regular work and a couple of video calls, and that’s more due to how Lenovo is just “selling” with Linux than configuring for Linux. This isn’t a Linux fault, it’s all down to how Lenovo has done things. In my mind, they should just offer a large external power supply because of their mess up. I don’t know how it fares with windows but I’ll surely not buy or recommend another of these. It does otherwise work flawlessly with Linux though - and that’s why it gets the 3 stars.

[Rewarded Review] Great little AMD-based Thinkpad with latest tech
29 December 2023

Great AMD-based machine with USB4 ports and cellular modem support. Lightweight and highly portable with long battery life. High performance and capable of light gaming.Pros:+ AMD chips are very efficient and powerful+ Includes 2x USB 4 ports for latest Thunderbolt/USB support.+ Classic Thinkpad keyboard and form factor+ Solid battery life+ Cellular modem is handy when on the roadCons:- USB 4 ports are all on the left side -- would be nice to have one on the right as well for more charging options.- Cellular modem doesn't work properly with Linux yet due to lack of FCC unlock utility support.

[Rewarded Review] Mostly very good, but a few gripes
8 December 2023

Overall, a very good and will designed machine, but I'm only giving 4 stars because things that should be repairable are not. I bought this 4th generation T14 to replace a 1st generation T14 that died after only three years of very light use (one of its USB ports had died some time before that). Both machines have the memory permanently soldered to the motherboard, and you can't disable the soldered memory and just use memory in the expansion slot, so if the memory goes (as mine did) you need a new motherboard. Also, the keyboard is good, but not as good as the more sculpted keys on previous ThinkPads. Lenovo should stop dropping important features (sculpted keys, batteries that can be swapped out by the customer, memory that can be easily replaced) just because ... MoreOverall, a very good and will designed machine, but I'm only giving 4 stars because things that should be repairable are not. Lenovo should stop dropping important features (sculpted keys, batteries that can be swapped out by the customer, memory that can be easily replaced) just because doing so makes the machine thinner and lighter and cheaper to manufacture. Finally, Lenovo has gone from a standard size cable lock slot on the 1st gen. to a nano-size on the 4th gen. without warning customers, so I got a nasty surprise when I took it on a trip and couldn't lock it in my hotel room with the standard Targus cable lock that I've used for years.

[Rewarded Review] Quality build - mediocre screen for the price
13 June 2024

Awesome build quality - the laptop is solid and light. Used to have Lenovo T or X series laptops for the last 10 years and have never been disappointed in overall build and keyboards quality. However... their standard screens are mediocre. As I decided to switch to OLED / IPS 120Hz 100% RGB, 500nits panels, I have upgraded this T14s with an OLED screen. However, i was very disappointed to find out that the panel was 60Hz, while tech information sheet stated 90Hz. At the end, I decided to return the product and buy competition. After a long chat with their support team, they have changed the spec to reflect 60Hz.Sorry Lenovo. I refuse to pay for your 300 nits, 45% NTSC, 1920-1200 what others charge for good quality OLED.

[Rewarded Review] T14s works great but has some limitations
14 February 2024

I wanted a laptop that was small, decently fast and had a great battery life. The T14s delivers on that. I am really happy with this laptop so far. I bought it as a replacement for the x1 carbon and for my purposes, I can't tell the difference. It is fast and light. The screen is easy to view. When I connect to a 4k monitor, however, you can certainly notice that the frame rate could improve - even for everyday use (the connected wireless keyboard and mouse are a bit laggy). The battery lasts pretty much all day and the case feels solid. I would recommend if you won't be connecting to a 4k monitor. Note that I am using Ubuntu 22.04 so your mileage with Windows may differ.

My only main bug-bear is the palm rest, which tends to get greasy even after a few sessions, but this is moreso a problem of all Lenovo Thinkpads that use this material rather than this model itself, and it can easily be cleaned.Overall I highly recommend the Gen 4 AMD T14s for anyone looking for a lightweight but high-powered laptop for their projects or personal use.
