I now have a touch screen user interface, which wasn't available when I'd ordered my last laptop. Zoom calls are a breeze - and I now have the ability to block the camera if I want to .

One of the most disappointing laptops and overpriced. Please don't get trapped by the Aluminium looks. Let me list down the shortcomings:-- Heating issues: gets heated up even on a single zoom call while the sound produced by the fan is clearly noticeable- Worthless speakers: Dolby sound, 3D surround, etc. All these are gimmics you won't be able to listen to the other person's voice while taking calls, forget about music and videos- Poor screen quality- The level of quality can be seen while view simple imgaes (hi-def) or even text, etc. It feels as if the pixels will burst or seem blurry unless you zoom- Thickness and Weight: Not at all a business laptop considering the weight and thickness of the laptop. It will definitely give you a feel of holding a 7-8 ... MoreOne of the most disappointing laptops and overpriced. Please don't get trapped by the Aluminium looks. I am a retired IT professional (ex software engineer) who has owned and used many PCs and laptops over the years. Most recently and prior to this purchase, I purchased laptops from 2 different big name vendors (competitors of Lenovo) and had problems with both. The first was small, light and responsive, but had ongoing motherboard issues. The second was big, clunky and slow with a cheap network card which, half the time, would not connect to Wi-Fi unless it was sitting next to the router. When I got tired of wrestling with them, I decided to try a ThinkBook. My new ThinkBook 14 combines the best of both the laptops described above, with none of the drawbacks. The ThinkBook is lightweight, highly responsive, starts up immediately, has no trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, and, so far at least, has no glitches. I went with Windows 11, which seems to be rock solid and requires a minimal learning curve when moving from Win 7 or 10. I can't be happier and am so glad I paid a bit more for Lenovo quality.
I bought this laptop a month ago.So far, I haven't had much problems with the speed or performance. The laptop boots quite quickly and it is ready for use after logging in. I would advise that the keyboard is not entirely intuitive. There is no multi-media key to pause/play music, forward or move to the previous track (song). Therefore, it can be quite annoying when you have to open your music app/browser to pause the media being played. The camera is also supposed 720p but there seems to be some issues with white-balancing. If you have a white background, the balance can be quite off and highly saturated. So your video would be distorted.Overall, I think the laptop is good in performance but lacks some proper design for functionality. I bought the new Lenovo 14p mostly due to it's 2.8K OLED display, and I have been very happy with my new laptop so far. That 400nit OLED display is absolutely stunning. It is glossy, but the brightness and high contrast cuts through ambient reflections a lot better than I have seen in glossy IPS displays. I am also extremely impressed by the performance of the 8 core 5900HX processor. The fact that Lenovo was able to pack all this power into a 3lbs Ultrabook is quite impressive. One of the best port selections on an AMD Ultrabook. Having a full sized HDMI 2.0, 2 USB-C ports that both support USB-PD charging, 2 full sized USB 3.2 ports and a MicroSD card reader is really great. My laptop came with an Intel AX200 Wifi 6 card, which I prefer over Realtek counterparts. The 1TB SSD is really fast (3GB/s+ read/write). Battery life is not ground breaking, but decent given the fact that it has the fastest laptop CPU currently available. When it comes to the specs, the only downside I can think of is the soldered RAM. Since it uses the commonly available 3200MHz DDR4 and not LPDDR4x, I wish the laptop came with 16GB soldered, plus an empty RAM slot. 16GB should be enough for most uses, but it keeps me from using this laptop as a true desktop replacement. One minor issue that may or may not bug you is that the slight flex/squish along the edge with the display hinge when the laptop is closed. So if you hold the laptop like a book along the edge with the hinge, you will feel the top and the bottom of the laptop squishing a bit. I does bug me a bit and takes away from the rock solid construction the laptop has everywhere else, but it is a minor annoyance. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
I've owned over 5 Lenovo Thinkpads, but this Thinkbook will have to be the last one. It's had an INSANE Battery issue where it will continue running while told to turn off, the touchpad will make erratic movements randomly, and even when successfully powered off the battery will experience parasitic drain. Amazon had many reviews that were similar to my experience, so the Gen 2 model likely had poor quality control and bad engineering.I use my laptops for CSM and project management work, so when lenovo suggested a possible 90 day turnaround for a minimum 3 repair attempt solution, that's simply not acceptable. A little powerhouse. The performance is excellent. I am able to play Heroes of the Storm on High settings without any real fps drop or freezing. Solid battery life if you are doing things like just browsing the web. Gaming drains the battery quite quickly but I think that's to be expected amongst laptops in general. Touchpad is a bit sensitive in the sense that I find I consistently bump it with my palm and it registers as a left-click. When I am writing a word doc, it will move around where I am typing my text. This might sound small, but it is quite annoying and happens enough for me to explicitly mention it here. Also, when I first received the laptop, the touchpad had a dead zone, so I had to send it in.
Pros: It feels sturdy and strong.- It has a backlit keyboard- Display/screen is great with no reflections- So far it's fast, but it's a brand new laptop so that's a given; only time will tell how this CPU stands up.Cons: Battery Life: Not the greatest, not the worst. When doing light web browsing, only lasts about 3-4 hours on medium brightness. Good luck if you're running programs that require more power- Speakers are under the laptop so all the sounds are muffled and not great. I wish they were above the keyboard instead- There's a "grip stick" under the laptop (near the speakers) that sticks out and, guess what? Most people use their laptops on their laps, Lenovo! So after about 10-15 minutes of it digging into your laptop, it becomes quite irritating- I was excited it had an ethernet/RJ45 port until I actually tried to use it. Whoever designed this, and whoever approved this design need to be fired immediately, AND fined. It didn't fit at first, but apparently after looking it up online, if I try hard enough 1 of 2 things will happen. It will either go in, or it will break and I will not be able to order a replacement part from Lenovo. I've worked with computers a lot and I've never struggled so hard with simply plugging in an ethernet wire. It should not be this hard. And what is even the point of making it expand? It offers NO improvement for the laptop whatsoever. It not like it's blocking dust and debris from getting in, so I really see NO point in making it expand. It looks like it might be a quick fix for a design flaw for the thickness of the laptops. The laptop is thick enough to house the whole port normally, so I just do not get why they make it like that. So far I've decided not to use it as long as I can.- End of Rant -
Terrible, terrible laptop. I was unfortunate enough to have this deemed my work laptop. It's brand new. The very first time I booted it up, it not only took 20 minutes to fully start running, but every single thing I opened crashed. I can't even make a new folder on my desktop without my screen freezing, and then the desktop completely disappearing for 5 minutes at a time.Audio is muffled, the screen is poor all around (low brightness, poor resolution, etc.) and the option to flatten the screen 180 degrees is completely useless. This is an ugly, heavy, poorly-made, over-priced, and just horrendous laptop all around. The worst I've ever used.
