This is a really lovely item for any young Harry Potter fan. The build is challenging, but not off-puttingly so, and the final result is fantastic. Hedwig's wing movement is superb: the wings flex in the middle creating a much more realistic wing flap than you would expect from what is essentially a piece of Lego sculpture. The feather elements are beautiful, and the overall look of Hedwig is just beautiful. If your child loves Harry Potter, this is a perfect addition. My 9 year old needed a little assistance with some of the gears, but this is still doable for younger builders. Highly recommend!

Hedwig was a disappointment. Challenging build, and wings don’t work with the crank. We have disassembled and reassembled to check it was done properly. The crank turns, and we can feel the internal gears slipping, but the small plastic mechanisms are not strong enough to move the wings. If the wings are lifted manually, and the crank held in place, the gears still cannot hold them up. The assembly is correct and the gears are not stripped. Too bad. It should have been priced much lower to be just a stationary Hedwig model.

This was my first ever kit that I had been bought since I was a little girl.I’m a massive Harry Potter fan, so was itching to get started on Hedwig on Christmas Morning.Things were going well until I reached the end of bag 3 and found pieces missing, and then began bag 4 and experienced missing parts from that bag too.So I am unable to complete my build.The tail feather on the right hand side can not be connected, nor can the feathers on the wing on the right hand side.I have tried to order the missing pieces, only to have my order cancelled as it didn’t pass the verification process, and then some of the vital parts I need are out of stock.I am so unhappy.
I was thoroughly enchanted by this little set. There are so many little details included that it really is packed with iconic images from the films. Even has the otter and hare patronuses which I wasn't expecting (note to self, check the pack pictures!). My favourite pieces are the sliding door which was a new build technique to me and the wooden training dummy. It’s $20 and your getting 4 minifigures (I’m counting the dummy as one) that are all in some way exclusive plus 2 new molds for Patronus and a nice build! The three student minifigures although not new characters have wonderful new torsos specific to how the characters wear there cardigans and there accessories! (Harry having is unbuttoned cardigan, Hermionies being very neat and proper, and Luna having her necklace!) Plus you get an awesome death eater training dummy with exclusive prints that you can only get in the set! And for the Patronus they are 2 completely new molds for a hare and a otter and they are wonderful!
