Knog Scout Bike Alarm and Finder
With the Knog Scout bike alarm, you can park your bike with a sense of security and prevent the theft of your bike. The Knog Scout responds to movement and vibrations by emitting an 85db alarm, deterring thieves. You will also receive a notification if your iPhone is within Bluetooth range. Bike Finder In addition, iPhone users can also use the Knog Scout as a Bike Finder, using Apple's 'Find My' app. It works exactly the same as with an Apple Airtag and thus allows you to see the location of your bike and retrieve it. Use Using it is simple: switch the Knog Scout on as soon as you park your bike somewhere, and switch it off again when you cycle away. There are several ways how you can switch the Scout on and off: either via a button on the device itself, or via Knog's free iOS app when your iPhone is within Bluetooth range. Connection You attach the Knog Scout to your bike's bottle cage lugs. You can mount it discreetly underneath bottle cage. Alternatively, you can mount it on your bike without a bottle cage and use the included neon silicone cover, which makes the Knog Scout stand out well enough to be a deterrent. Battery power The Knog Scout has high battery capacity despite its low weight and compact size. You can use the Scout for 6 months without having to recharge it. It is rechargeable by means of a USB-c cable (not included).

We’ll, the bike hasn’t been stolen yet.Seriously though, well packaged, engineered.Fits as advertised. The supplied security screws are a great idea but seem to be too short (at least for the the bottle holder nut inserts on my 2022 Specialized levo comp)Functions as described. Battery life is good.I would love to see battery level status on the app. That would help a ton. Great product. I’m going to order a second unit for my other bike and already recommend to a friend who just received his in the mail. Thanks

Gives peace of mind that the bike is still where I left itSuggestionsSetup requires a little patience to get the pairing consistentProvide the ability to arm or disarm from a distanceFix the bugs where it inconsistently flicks from Knog to find my phone automatically and you are unable to get back to Knog to disarm from find my phone. Which means sometimes you can only disarm manually on the Scout not through the app.Screws are too long for my Trek so I had to pad it out with washers to be a firm fit. My bottle holder does not fit well on the trek so the scout is fitted without it.Create the ability to transfer arm/disarm to more than one phone. This allows sharing of bikes and security.Make the alarm louder. Or make the volume variableProvide a battery status

The Knog Scout is a brilliant security system for my bike. However, I have a couple of suggestions for its iOS integration:- An Apple Watch app, to more conveniently arm and disarm my bike without digging through my bag;- Shortcuts app integration, to allow for Siri integration; &- A widget or widgets that can go on the home screen or widget pane for, again, greater ease of arming & disarming.Otherwise, this alarm has been an excellent addition to my bike and gives me greater confidence locking up in crowded locations.

I was considering buying an Apple air tag, cracking it open, removing the part that produces the sound, and hiding it in my bicycle. The idea was to have the burglars not aware that I could track them AFTER they stole my bike. The problem is that all my bike has quick-release locks - so they might just still the wheels, the seat post, etc... and I would never know, cause the bike had not been moved. Air tags would not help in this case.I decided instead to buy the Knog Scout. It takes the opposite approach - clearly visible - don't mess with my bike.I really really like it. It is really well-designed!It only costs about 10€ more than the air tags, but offers more features!
I really love the device. However the app is mediocre. It does its job, but it's 2023, even washing machines are more inteligent.1. You can't change your email address.2. It is not possible to check what alarms sound like inside the app.3. There are 2 settings' menus in the app. Both have the same options and they do not override each other. There should be general settings menu in the app, that sets options for all devices and also device specific settings menu where you can choose separate options for one device.4. No widgets. There should be some, like battery lvl of a device or an arm/disarm button.5. There is zero Shortcuts/Focus integration. It would be usefull to have the abillity to set some automations. The Knog Scout has easily paid itself off and saved both money and heartbreak. My bike was stolen, while locked and within a secure bike room. With the Scout attached, and seemingly unnoticed by the thief, I was able to easily follow its movements and luckily found my bike unsecured only a few suburbs away. While I was overseas, I was able to easily check that my bike was still safely at home. You can add the Find My widget to your iPhone and see your bike on a map at any time. And while out and about, it's reassuring to turn on the movement alarm for extra piece of mind.Sometimes arming can be quite slow, taking upwards of 5 seconds to arm and another 5 seconds for the app to recognise the armed state (either armed from the Scout or the app).Additional ... MoreThe Knog Scout has easily paid itself off and saved both money and heartbreak. For example, I don't need a notification whenever my phone and bike are separated: this would be every time I lock my bike up somewhere (this is the only option offered within the Find My app). What I do want, however, is a notification when my bike leaves moves without me. Movement/stolen alarm also requires Bluetooth range to notify your phone, which is of little help once you leave close range. A notification through the Find My network would be ideal, but again this is likely an Apple limitation.
Decided to purchase the scout as an extra security measure after the purchase of an expensive new e-bike. First issue I had was it not linking with Find My app on my iPhone after a firmware update. Fixed after a factory reset. The second and more pressing issue is the fact that it can only be used with 1 iPhone/account. My partner and I share the e-bike so ideally we both need to be able to arm/disarm the scout with our phones. I had hoped logging into her phone with my account would solve this but it never connects as I think the security protocol is very rigid to just one connection at a time.Apart from these it works great and with the bright yellow cover I think is a good deterrent for potential thieves.
I was initially impressed with the Knog Scout and the alarm function seems to work well enough. However, I could not connect to the tracking ‘Find My’ function. Although it is NOT stated on the Knog website (nor on Pushys’) your iPhone requires the same connectivity as for an Apple AirTag. Turns out, this EXCLUDES iPhone SE versions 1, 2 and 3 (such as mine). So, unless I upgrade my iPhone, I either need to return the unit or I have purchased a pretty expensive alarm. Can’t give it any more than three stars in the circumstances.
Great service as always from Sigma Sports. The Knog Scout came in a neat package, well protected, and with long security screws allowing fitment under a bottle cage. Unlike some reviews, they didn't fall out when the box was opened, in fact they were securely pushed into the thick cardboard insert and required a bit of force to remove. After charging the device for a couple of hours I was able to set up the App and bluetooth connection to my iPhone. Seems to work great but not yet tested in anger. I plan to take my bike abroad next year and I hope the Scout will let me track it through the airport baggage process. Would be nice if the different alarm settings could be demonstrated via the App, but this doesn't seem to be possible.
I ordered a Scout as soon as they where available, to out under the bottle cage of my cargo bike. I know they are just to make stealing your bike more uncomfortable, not impossible. This makes the Scout a very annoying AirTag with much better mounting options. In my estimated use, I will never be alerted as I will almost certainly be out of bluetooth range. But, if the thief can ignore the alarm and other people alarmed by it (fingers crossed), I can track the bike with Apple‘s Find My.Pros: Silent mode to test sensitivity. Lock and unlock w/ button when in phone range.Cons: siren volume lower than expected, but very annoying up close. Not sure the Scout will survive direct tool use, e.g. with a grinder. Open speaker hole on back, could film with dirt if mounted ... MoreI ordered a Scout as soon as they where available, to out under the bottle cage of my cargo bike.
