KitchenAid - Artisan Medallion Silver 1.5L Kettle

I LOVE this kettle! Beautiful styling, a great size that is easy to hold when full but makes a good six cups with ease. Love the beep when you turn on and it turns itself off and love the function to turn the temp up or down. Pours beautifully straight from boiling without sloshing everywhere. A hefty price for a kettle but when it’s used multiple times a day and has all the above good points, then it’s worth every penny. Be careful not to overfill though as it will spill out on boiling!

Beautiful & functional but design can be improved

Pros: a pleasure to look at, easy to use, accurate and effective temperature control that's well-displayed, relatively quiet.Cons: the mechanical lid doesn't open all the way so manual intervention is needed, the water gauge is "hidden" behind the handle so it's hard to assess how much water has been poured in, the kettle is wide and squat and could be narrower and taller, including to accommodate a greater volume (e.g. 1.7L instead of 1.5L).

Best electric kettle so far

We ordered this KicthenAid kettle and it is super good. The design, the quality and practical features are exactly what we were looking for. It is spacious, but not heavy on its own. Straight forward and easy to use (what else to expect from a kettle?:)) Not noisy and has got a pleasant sound when it switches on and finishes boiling. It looks like something that will last for a long time and design is peculiar but not trendy to get out of fashion very soon. Highly recommend if you are looking for a high quality kettle. Be aware that at first it has some specific smell to it coming from material used but it gradually goes away as you use it and fill it up with fresh water before boil it. Excellent kettle

I purchased the kettle on line and initially was disappointed with the colour. It was much darker and more greenish in colour than I had anticipated. I live in N.I.and had no access to any store where I would have been able to see the range of colour or shape of kettles hence purchased on line . I chose Kitchen Aid as I have previous experience of other products and I liked their reliability and robustness although I acknowledge they are expensive.I do find the kettle quite heavy when filled to capacity, however, I generally only boil minimal amounts of water s o it is not a major issue .I like the fact I can boil one or two cups of water instead of a full kettle.I do find the temperature gauge very useful, although I probably have not adjusted the temperature ... MoreI purchased the kettle on line and initially was disappointed with the colour. The cord / lead sits nearly underneath which leads to a very steady base.The kettle is fairly quiet while boiling and I do like the ping noise emitted to alert when it has boiled and switching off.I find the kettle heats and boils quickly and the temperature of the water is maintained for some time.I would like to purchase a matching toaster, but to date I have only been able to source a four slice toaster. I want a two slice toaster as I do not have any space to accommodate the large four slice toaster plus I only require a two slice one.Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend purchasing the kettle.

Gorgeous retro kettle

Honestly, I did wince at the price of this kettle but as we had just refurbished our kitchen we decided to splurge a little (a lot!). However this kettle is not only gorgeous to look at but works really well too. I love the fact that you can set a temperature for the water to heat up to. I never thought we would use it but we do, fairly often. I particularly love the touch button to turn it on and the little 'ping' sound it makes when it's ready. I think it does sound a little like the button to call the cabin crew on a flight but don't let that put you off it's so much nicer than the loud click of a button being released on previous kettles we've owned. If I could offer one bit of feedback to KitchenAid it would be that the lid needs to open a little wider. This is a small price to pay for such a lovely product. I can't speak for longevity yet but fingers crossed we'll get years of use out of it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kettle.

Great looks but they don't last. Poor value

We have two Kitchenaid products and both have become a problem. Firstly our Proline kettle (now costs around 200) failed after 5 years of use. The heating element failed and Kitchenaid refuse to supply a new element. They patronisingly suggest buying a new kettle for another 200! Our Proline toaster (150) has been replaced once under warranty (3 years in UK but 5 years in USA) and again some years later is only partially working. Again Kitchenaid will not repair anything. It's all made in China so no surprises really. Very poor value so I suggest you don't get taken in as we were by the great looks and lifestyle marketing

Great product

This is my second Kitchen Aid kettle which I absolutely love. From its doubly insulated inner wall so it’s safe to use, to its adjustable temperature gauge with the light increasing as it moves up the temperature scale and then dinging to tell me it has boiled. Although it’s quite expensive to purchase it should last many, many years (my first kettle lasted around 10 years). A fast boiling kettle which is quiet and easily managed when pouring boiling water. Sits nice and steady on its base with a good firm handle too. Well worth the purchase.

KitchenAid Artisan Retro Kettle - Onyx Black 5KEK1522BOB

Bought to replace an identical kettle that had failed after 5 years of constant use. Initially replaced with a much cheaper option. Very quickly realised that the cheaper option was exactly that. I found that I missed the features that seemed pointless when I first bought the kettle; double skin, temperature control, thermometer etc were very it turned out quite useful. It is expensive but you get what you pay for and 5 years for a kitchen item that gets hammered every day isn't that bad.

Lovely kettle

Lovely kettle. I have spent a few months deciding to buy this kettle, looking at cheaper kettles, reading reviews. I liked the idea of it being quiet and IT IS FAR quieter than I expected. I like the bing to tell me it’s boiled, the dial to alter the temperature and the lights to tell me the temperature it is currently at. It looks very stylish, goes well with our coffee making equipment and I can fill it from the fridge dispenser. I found it at a good price and I’m very happy with it.
