I purchased two Kilner 3 litres Round Clip Top Jars. During the day I had made a batch of Victoria Plum Gin and found to my dismay that my 2 litre jar was not big enough! I realised that I needed a 3 litre jar to accommodate all the ingredients. So I went online about 6pm late on a Friday and found that my local Dunelm stocked the 3 litre jars at a reasonable price and would be ready in 3 hours. So I thought I'd need to pick them up on Saturday morning. However, to my delight I received an email approx 30 mins later to say they were ready. I have bought no fewer than 5 Kilner cliptop jars from Robert Dyas. They are sturdy, durable and I use them with confidence to brew kombucha and ferment sauerkraut. Whether new to fermentation, an expert, or just looking for attractive storage, these jars are indispensable!

I love kilner jars, great for keeping ingredients fresh and easily to see. Plus no taste transfer, I've recently changed over completely from plastic as I found contents sometimes tasted.After watching morning TV I didn't realise plastic boxes had a life and then started to deteriorate.So now it's glass all the way, just change seals when required.

I dont know anything about pickling or preserving but this is a very. very nice looking jar and it has a fantastic seal that would be perfect for those things. The clip is very sturdy, the jar itself too. Its a quality item for a bargain price.I actually bought this entirely by mistake. I meant to get the smallest one and ended up buying the 0.5 litre one. Even had I got the one I thought I was buying it wasnt what I wanted but I was desperate to fill my 20 requirement for free delivery and I had been looking for hours. So my brain failed to read all the details.None of that is the fault of the seller nor is a fault with the jar so I have given it 5 stars. Be aware that the bottle type jars for liquids cannot be cleaned easily, which is a problem for example if you have stored oil and then want to store something else. For extended freshness, I like to toss in an oxygen absorber before clamping down the lid. A line of these jars, filled with various foods, and arrayed neatly on your counters or pantry shelf, is so satisfying and pleasing to the eye! So much better than the jumble of messy bags I had before. This was my first time using kilner jars, I bought one to make some sloe gin. Found the metal clips for the lid to be very flimsy in comparison to my usual brand of jar. On filling with liquid and checking for water tightness I discovered that I couldn’t stop it leaking.Gave up in the end and used it for dry goods. Made my sloe gin successfully in another brand of jar.
You just can't get any better than a true Kilner jar. I use them to store all my dry cupboard essentials like rice & pasta and then as they are air tight I use them for biscuits, crackers, and for preserving. I have all sizes from 500ml up to 3 litres and they stack well. My cupboards have never been so tidy and all at a great price too.
